What a fabulous documentary about a wonderful project with benefits for all and completely unrecognised back in the 1960's when the canal was abandoned. A big WellDone from a Canadian Expat to all involved.
These are such heartening developments - the canals are a fantastic amenity the country can be proud of. It's exactly a year after this video uploading and the railway underbridge is now built and functional. Eventually the canal will connect to the Thames at Lechlade.
I remember the Stroud canal back in the early 80's when doing block release at Mid Gloucestershire technical college on London Rd at Stonehouse and back then it was completely derelict being little more than a muddy stream/ditch and dumping ground, i'm amazed at what all the parties involved have achieved and wish them all the very best of luck with completion of this section of the Cotswold canal and hope one day the whole of the canal from the Thames to the Severn is completed.
My wish is the Towpath improvement should be priority for Walkers, cyclists, runners as they will be biggest user groups from public (many more than boat owners !) also canal side residential development is a major beneficiary/influence on canal progress but needs to be balanced with preserving the countryside canal that it always was 🙏🏻
How do you get someone like Mark Horton to back a project like this, i have just been looking at the Lancaster canal Northern reaches restoration, sadly it seems to be bogging down, it need a high profile person to give it a boost, but i have no idea how to go about it.
It’s always been the unspoken history of the industrial revolution with out them there would not have been the mass transport of goods before steam locomotives.
A lot has changed since this video. Would be good to see an update video :)

Very interesting and worthy project, a map would have been helpful to non-UK residents.
