This video shows you 10 unusual variegated houseplants that are highly unlikely to revert - in some cases they CANNOT revert at all!
Please excuse the bad audio quality! I've done my best to fix it but apologies if it is a little sharp. Microphone malfunction :')

Thanks for the feedback guys! I'll get together a video for plants with notoriously UNSTABLE variegation 😄❤
Thank you! Also a video on how to bring back variegation on reverted plants would be mighty helpful as well ;) Haha
I think a great addition to that video would be chemically induced variegation- birkin, pink congo, adansonii for some examples 💚
Thank you!!
Good idea!

Kaylee Ellen: "it is a calathea on steroids."
me: *takes calathea white fusion off of my wish list.*
Mine did wonderfully until she got spider mites :( I am willing to try again, i can't get enough of those gorgeous leaves
@@cuddlefish322Calathea ‘White Fusion’ really benefits spending summer outdoors in filtered morning sun. My white fusion got spider mites too, so I forgot about it outside and by the end of the summer, it regrew leaves that seem tougher. It must be a case of shock, like how a Ficus benjamina throws a fit when it’s conditions change. Organic fertilizer will be easier on the plant as well.
Cuddlefish omg me too. I had to quarantine it and because it wasn't in my general view, I neglected it and i had to trash it. I really hope to try again with another. I was literally thinking about it the other day and I realized too late that I probably could've regrown it from the tubers
I really like a few calatheas but I always avoided them because everyone says they are such divas and very sensitive to pests. but the white fusion was secretly on my list for a while now and a few days ago I finally ordered one (Black Friday deal 15€ lol) now I am scared to death lol I don't know anything about calatheas and after watching this video I am even more scared xD fingers crossed that it likes me tho
Bahareh Zameni filtered water, high humidity, and indirect bright light. That's about it. I don't even have high humidity most of the time 30-40% 😳and my calathea was fine. The calathea I have right now(medallion) is doing ok, it's a little dry and I sometimes for get to water it so the edges are a little crisp, but it's other wise pretty ok. They just be trouble adjusting/transitioning most of the time so you gotta pamper them a little bit for the first couple days/ weeks with a humidifier or a mist-er and it's worked well for me.
Excuse me while I feel special for having a living white fusion.
Under glass. And it only gets distilled water. 😂
😂
Treated like a queen 👸 😍🥰
Pam's Pretty Plants which one you've got? I've just found out there are 3 different types, white fusion, fusion white and white tiger. I've just brought back to life almost dead division of white fusion and am rewriting my wish list 😅 oh and I'm giving her fishtank water 💚
Hey that’s an accomplishment!! 😃💚
@@katec4447 it’s the White Fusion according to the Logee’s site (where I got it from!). I also brought this one back from the dead!
Please make an top10 about dark/black foliage plants :D
Yes please
Yes please!!!
Yess
Yes pleaaaase
Not usually a huge commenter on UA-cam but wanted to give advice to anyone who has issues with Goeppertia (formerly Calathea) White Fusion. The humidity in my room is roughly 60-65 and I don't shove it close to a whole bunch of plants (which is usually done to increase humidity in a tight area). Watering with distilled water helps (I use reverse osmosis), and having a healthy amount of light helps! Lots of browning of variegated plants aren't actually from lack of humidity, but just lack of light, nutrition and water! Oh, and of course, let it acclimate for a few months :D My White fusion has been thriving for months and the biggest thing I've learned is just not to be nervous about taking care of it, it senses your fear
the last sentence.. I hope it is true. my verrucosum is growing like weed even though everyone says it is the biggest diva, but for me it is thriving and I love it.. I hope my white fusion will be like that too.
I guess mine does sense my fear 🤣 it's not dying, but it has some brown spots. The humidity oscillates around 55-65 at my place though :D so not the best.. do you have any secret plant food which it likes? I want to bribe it 🤣
@@veronikavysoudilova9697 😂😂🤣🤣
@Veronika Vysoudilova I'm giving fish tank water to all my calatheas and they're doing really great 💚
Do you have problems with the damp in a room with 60% humidity? That seems crazy high for indoors and I just imagine paint molding...
I mean I could even just watch that living wall for 30 minutes 😍💚
Live stream ?¿
Same 😁
Sameeee!!!
It’s incredibly beautiful.
A great topic no one expected! Thank you!
The ctenanthe does revert to green in low light, and I have 5-6 white fusions and they revert to green when put into low light, and will give variegation when I give them dappled direct sunlight. However, I live in the tropics and plants respond different to light and watering here.
omg I've found Sean comment in the wild :) Hi Sean! Love your Anthurium content!
Would you consider doing a similar video for plants with unstable variegation? So I know which ones I should not impulse buy haha
Thanks for breaking it down to basics for us. I know I’m not alone when I say I don’t want to gamble my money right now on fluctuating prices. You are a true business woman and regardless of where we live we’ll remember ‘the time you persuaded us to hold off till prices became more stable’. I mean this in the best way possible. You are the shit! (Hope they still say that)
Me sitting with my marble queen pothos like: "shh... you'r alright, don't be jealous, its not like I have space for any more plants......"
Marble queens are still absolutely stunning even if they are common and not expensive
MOMMA STILL LOVES YOU!!! Hahahahaha mine too
I'm in LOVE with my marble queen. She's a stunner. I have a big one, and a baby one. I'm so happy I'm not a fiend for variegated plants LOL, but I completely understand why people love them. They're beautiful.
Common plants deserve the same amount of love as rare ones.
Love this! Pls do more videos like these. Also a vid on the most unstable variegated plants would be helpful as well! Love all your top 10s!
Seriously! Haha, I'm sitting here crying over my reverted Florida Beauty that I paid "plantdemic price" for :(
@@MJMEGANJONES I’m sorry to hear that! This is exactly why we need that vid!
@@octaviaschulte6419 YES! And also a video on how to bring back variegation would be good as well ;)
I want a living wall just so I can be buried in front of it when I die lol
Thank you so much for this!!! To my knowledge nobody has done a video on this topic!!! I would much rather spend my money on stable variegation than one those plants that one has try and control for to much or reverting! Thanks again Ms Ellen!!!😎
And I'm just sitting here, wondering how Gus is doing
Great that you returned to your usual kind of videos :)
As a Canadian who has pretty limited access to rare and uncommon plants locally and online...the white fusions are so common here. They’re maybe $9.99 for a 4” pot and you can definitely find larger ones quite easily.
I’m just here to laugh at how strict your country is on importing plants. It’s like New Zealand, but even funnier bc of the accents.
I'm also from Alberta, but haven't seen them at all. Where have you seen them here?
I've been looking online and the seems similar in the U.S as well
Wow 😮
@@manniquin I know your comment is a couple months old but I'm on Edmonton and got my pretty full 4 inch pot for $18 at Glass Earth Inc. a couple months ago.
Triostars are just the most gorgeous plants. Mine just keeps growing and growing, I want it to become a massive beast 😍
30 minutes of relaxing music and the living wall would be amazing btw😍
EDIT: With Christmas lights/decorations on the wall? Does someone agree with me?
Beats a Yule log video for the holidays! 😂
A time lapse of moving leaves would be amazing!!!
To lo-fi Christmas music
I left my tristar at home without watering for three weeks over christmas,, and it's completely fine after a couple of days of care, it's so easy to look after, love it!
My father in law has one. It pretty much gets watered only when either me or his mum visits. So it's like 1-3 times a month. And it looks wonderful.
Love this video. Also, really like the discussion of the prices. You give enough info for further reference but aren’t too specific. Really hope you continue to do this as I know you haven’t loved to talk about prices before.
You would be such a good news caster lady! I love the way you deliver the information to us. Your voice can be so soothing
So sorry for the off topic, but you look stunning! Always a pleasure to watch your videos, but this week? Guurl! 😍
Thank you for this Kaylee! Much love from Singapore ❤
thank you thank you thank you for creating this video. I've been waiting AGES for you to make something like this. Please make more!
Another wonderful video. You look absolutely beautiful today. I’m in the states and I’ve been following Costa Farms. It’s hard to wait but I know the price will be more affordable so wait I will. Your background is drool worthy! 💕💕
11:00 Even the kitty is variegated!
Wowie I never get the chance to be this early! Love your content and your personality, your videos are always so informative and fun to watch!
Love to profile picture or Eros
@@Your_mom_approved aw thx!!
Great video, love the info 👍
Thank you for all the knowledge and info.. and new plants for my wishlist!
Stuck at work so can’t watch for an hour. But excited to watch later. 🌱🎉🌱
I keep my Trio Star outside. It loves it. Gets water from the hose as well. ☘🌿☘
I am so glad a couple of my plants made your list. I was thinking I would have to maintain the Variegation of them.
They are so beautiful I did not want to cut them 😩 until they were more matured (except for my plant insurance propagation) Now I am more secure in my plants 🪴
Appreciate your knowledge and willingness to research for us. Big hugs 🤗
I am considered a plant expert at my work and with friends. However. It is all because of your videos and I recommend your channel to anyone that asks. You are engaging and extremely fun to watch. You are amazing. All the best. 😃🌱
I do have a request. I don’t know if you have done this. With your plants in LECA. How do you maintain them? What nutrients? When to flush? And so on. I have started some cutting in LECA 4 months ago and was thinking of keeping them in it as that seem happy. I would love to know your procedure for small pots and maybe how that differs to your big wall? Thank you 😊
I've been waiting for this video since last year probably. Love every single video you make! 😍🤷♀️💖
Loved it! Thankful for your vids!!
This is the video I have been waiting for. THANK YOU!!
Love this vid! I am so wanting the Thai Constellation! It is my favorite wish list one right now.
Also the standleyana seems to do better with the big chunky variegation if happy on a pole. I had a stem get little specs, I put it on a pole and she threw out a half white leaf. There as and yellow variegation one now too. They seem to be in the tripple digits in the pnw of the us rn in Nov.
I don't have the means to get many of these, but I love learning about them and really like how passionate you are about them.
Ilsemanii rarely reverts, but it in fact does. The owner of the nursery where I purchased mine, David Fell of Fantastic Gardens Hawaii, has shown examples of the plant reverted. Siddhartha has a great write up on Ilsemanii in his Facebook “Philodendron Enthusiasts” group that details this plant and how to tell it from its Jose Buono not-so doppelgänger.
Is it my headset or is the audio weird?
I wrote in the description about this - audio is borked. Did my best to fix it so it was at least audible
Great video! Thank you Kaylee!
More rare plant indexes pls 😂
yeaaaah ! for example a syngonium one would be great !
Nice video! Who doesn't love to see and learn about variegation😊
Thank you! I have been waiting on this type of video.
I really liked the video and would love to watch a part two!😍
Unfortunate how in 2020, people need to make a 2 minute long disclaimer about what they’re gonna be discussing so that people dont get offended or try to correct you cause people are SO READY to jump down throats
You can thank the SJW lefties for that.
I bought 2-leaf cutting of Ilsemanii few months ago, when it was still relatively cheap. It was beautifully variegated. When it started producing new leaves they were all green with no variegation. Recently it produced one leaf with 1/6th of a leaf sector with variegation. I'll know more when I'll see a new leaf.
They can and do revert, the variegation def isn't stable on them.
Same with mine. 3 leaves and all green atm.
Wondering if the variegation pops back? Planning to get one 😀
@@jasonh402 yes! And as my almost-3-year observation goes cutting kind of helps it become variegated. Since I wrote this comment every leaf on my ilse is either marbled, sectorally variegated or totally variegated. I actually have one rooted cutting now.
@@Juicetynka Thank you! Now I have the confidence to buy it!
Thanks for this video! I’ve been hesitating to make a big purchase into a more rare plant and this definitely helped with my decision making!
I got my calathea white fusion around 10 weeks ago. I got it at a discount as a “sparse” plant, and when I received it I wasn’t sure I’d be able to rehab it (I’m relatively new to this). It had spider mites and the new leaves coming in looked wet and transparent, I was worried it was a bacterial infection. I sprayed it down, treated the spider mites, cut off the new leaves that were worrying me, stuck it in a very large glass jar for humidity, and crossed my fingers. Since then it has outgrown the jar and is now in an ikea Socker mini greenhouse. It has put out three perfect new leaves, larger than any it had before, and I haven’t seen any new browning. Soon I’ll be moving it into an ikea greenhouse cabinet since it is starting to outgrow the Socker. This was the first calathea I purchased and I was scared as hell, but really it has not been that difficult. I don’t have a humidifier but keeping it in an enclosed space has done the trick for me.
Love my ikea socker. Also have found my calathea easier than I expected. It's just started flowering.
the encouragement haha! over the summer i purchased a calathea white fusion, it was very happy until October … and now my battle for keeping it alive has begun.
Kaylee being like: hey here's some amazing plants with stable variegation! ...You can't have them tho.
Love this info. Put trio star on my wish list for next year!
Can confirm regarding the difficulty of the White Fusion. That was a nightmare both for keeping up with its thirst and keeping spidermites off. Tried three times and lost it every time. :(
If you live in a climate where you can out them outside do so. The natural predators will eat the spider mites
Really happy to hear that p. ilsemanii has stable variegation :) not that I can afford it or anything
It doesn't have stable variegation, she's misinformed. It can revert.
@@lucy6423 do you have one that reverted?
I dont see one that has reverted. But there are a few people out there, which saying it can revert.... i'm looking on this myself for nearly two month and didnt find an answer....
Would love to see a "Plants with silver foliage" list! Please 5x
Not sure if it's my phone or the audio but it sounds like it's spiking! Great video though! Thank you!
Love this video. Thank you! Also love your makeup look today! What is it?
Bring on those disclamimers!! As long as they come with this quality b-roll
Great info. I was just researching variegation and viruses earlier tonight.
"If you look at it wrong" had me dying 🤣
Omg the variegated banana is lovely. I didn't know it existed! Very interesting.
Yes please more videos of top 10! 🥰🥰
Thank you for being one of the fireflies in the room! 😉💚
Thank you finally someone speaks in this topic❤️❤️❤️❤️
The living wall is so epic!😭🤩🤩🤩💚💚💚
"do it if you like the pain" -kaylee ellen ❤️🤣
Here nice and early got that notification and jumped on it
Hello thanks for saying this video I'll be learning a lot I'm looking at your videos I will be looking forward for your next video keep up the good work thank you and God bless
I need the Thai Con and Jose Bon in my life 🥰🌱💚
I loove ur new setups and backround🧡🧡🧡
Love the wall! I can watch the wall all Day.
I've had a stromanthe triostar for 12 years. I love it. It's put out shoots that have hand like bunches of leaves at the end and has got quite tall. I've repotted it 3 times since I bought it.
Täx again for another high quality video 😃👍
8:50 "If you look at it wrong, it will go brown..and crispy." I agree 100%! It's beautiful but taking care of it gives me gray hair!
It makes sense to me that the Ae Ae would be more sensitive given that it's a heirloom variety from Hawaii which (at sea level at least) has a milder climate than pretty much anywhere in Florida.
Thanks I've been woundering which plants have stable verigation. 2 of my wish list plants in that list. X
Loved this video!
I had a feeling that Cobra is for me, but after your recommendation I am sure 😊 I invited one to my home. First it seems so inconspicuous, but it can repay you with constant surprises - recently every second leaf is half or most of the white 😁 Love her 😍
I am never going to get those plants but I really enjoy watching your content, very informative.
honestly, a calathea white fusion was my first calathea. I've never had brown tips or something. I give it tap water and I've never checked about the humidity. It just has it's place next to quite a few other plants and it's thriving
Wow I have never been so early for something in my life
My White Fusion is such a drama queen 🙄
Had a shitty day, I'm in desperate need of a good Kaylee video
Glad to know the caramel marble is tending unstable because now I don’t have to want it as much! I love my ring of fire, good enoughb
I so love this video nice information thanks
Hello Kaylee, calathea white fusion likes to revert a lot.
Maybe you could do a video where you list you top picks from different plant genus
Listing again!!! Got jose buono and triostar.. I killed my Thai const. last year 🥴🥺😩
I know your nit in U.S.A but hope yoy have a wonderful weekend. I had a great Thanksgiving and looking forward to dunday for my home celerbration.
Love your videos always
Would love a part 2!
This is SO HELPFUL! I (and many people out there) love variegated plants but I'm a newer plant parent so I don't want want to spend $$$ on a plant and then have it lose its variegation. Thank you! Sending you love from Canada xx
Great video Kaylee!
BTW My Clip on Grow Lights and My Smaller (Alexa) Humidifier links are broken
Me and my friend were talking about calatheas and then I showed to her my new wishlists (which are the plants mentioned in this video) and my dear friend is an angel. She said she is sending me some white fusion and lubbersiana cuttings!!! I’m so happy 😭😭😭
It would be a very interesting video about the top 10 plants in 2021. Thank you in advance!
Def make more videos like this. Any sort. Considering that these plants are more expensive and that you are a grower and seller. Most of us wouldn’t know any better. I def wouldn’t. Ty!
Stromanthe Triostar is my biggest love and mine looks like it's looking variegation. I had a highly variegated one and the offshoots are coming out mostly green. I'm currently experimenting with light to hopefully get it back.
Just bought a triostar it's so beautiful and is growing lots already
When you said about the calathea white fusion- If you look at it wrong it will go brown 😂 Literally laughed out lout. I bought one today for my birthday! Wish me luck
is the philodendron paraiso verde stable ? do you have one ?
No, it's extremely unstable.
Amazing video
