I always hate it when people say conservatives need to "compromise" with leftists. We've been doing that for many decades now, and look where it has gotten us.
Ok, I see the point here, but I've also seen people use the "there's only one party and everything's fixed" (or something like that) excuse to just not care about anything, not stay informed, not vote. There might be a nefarious for promoting this "uniparty" idea because it makes otherwise caring people just give up and run out the clock of their lives seeking dopamine hits and nothing else.
It's not "giving up" if it's true. If you end up in the same place by voting or not voting, what difference does it make which you choose, except that you sleep better in the former case? The only concession I will make is that rather than waste their time participating in rigged elections between corrupt politicians, people should invest that time in improving their skill set, broadening their knowledge, and working harder, in other words helping themselves. That has a much better chance of fixing their problems than expecting some politician to magically do it for them. Millions of working class people came out alive from Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, and Maoist China. It can be done with determination and effort.
I stopped voting, but I sure as heck am still informed and I still care.
But Im not American so my political situation is different.
I remember how optimistic the NPR commentator was years ago when announcing the election of Robert Mugabe as president of Zimbabwe, instituting a "single-party democracy." I guess we all know how that worked out--or we definitely should.

You should count them as you need to know how many people are in your country, but exclude them from any state population total for representative seat or electoral college allocation.

The dems' open praise of socialist leaders like Castro (Bernie Sanders in Florida) and their courting of lgbt people, combined with the economic success of Trvmps policies has temporarily blunted the drift of latinos toward the left, but those ameliorating factors will fade with time I think. McCain's thumbs down killed any chances of it being repealed, even though he ran for re-election on the platform that he was going to end it. He only said it because he believed Hillary was going to win and he wouldn't have to follow through with that promise.

But what they are doing this every young child that grew up with my kids who are now in their 20s and 30s Grew up with massive government benefits that you can get just for having children born here. Even if you're not a citizen. These kids grew up believing the democratic government was their Benefactor. They were very hateful towards republicans.And quite often said derogatory Things to my children. They even tore down my porch rails and an american flag during the fourth of july years ago. Now that generation already grew up. But I had a child late in life She is now thirteen and i'm in my fifties. After already arguing with my 25-year-old daughter's friends when she was growing up.And my son who's in his Thirties I saw those kids Indoctrinated into being democrats. My youngest too is the only one still at home.When she was about nine years old was playing with one of the latino children across the street. That child had a TikTok accoand she was wanting to pull in my child.So she put a video upity, I will saying that my child supported Trump.Even though she doesn't even know she doesn't even know doesn't even talk about her know about those things at that point in any detail. Yep. Democrats are better at canvassing the youth, that's for sure. Republicans need to do some learning in that department if they expect to go on existing. Personally I think that both parties are losing support right left and center because thanks to the internet many are waking up to the reality that it's the same either way, and that the politicians don't really control anything. I'm one of them. Never been a republican or democrat, and never will be.
What's funny about the whole 3/5ths thing you mentioned is that the Southern politicians who pushed for it would've been Democrats. While the ones who were calling it out as shenanigans were people who went on to become Republicans. I guess some things truly never change lol. Actually, the south wanted them to be counted as a whole person for the purpose of representation while denying them the right to vote. The north didn't want to them counted at all if they couldn't vote. The south agreed to the compromise but they weren't very happy about it.
Now, the left uses this so they can say, "See? The right doesn't even consider you to be people!"
The story I heard was that the Dems wanted noncitizens to count as 1 whole person for the purpose of representation in congress. Republicans argued "noncitizens don't count"

Geographically the parties switched but that's because of mass migration occurring during the 20th century. Ideologically they didn't switch. Republicans didn't win a majority of southern seats in congress until the 1990s, thirty years after the Civil Rights movement. Furthermore socialists literally ran as Democrats throughout the 1900s. It's just that a lot of Democrats like the Kennedy family despised communism whereas nowadays they view commies as useful tools.

The big L Libertarians were saying this 2-3 decades ago. The fact is, starting about with the boomers, the general population has lost all sense of personal responsibility and has appointed the government as a suragate parent so that they could be children all the way to retirement.
There were some key structures put in place by earlier generations that made this possible but it all clicked together with the babyboom. My current hypothesis is that the massive shift in the parent:child ratio combined with the population density crossing a critical threshold was the trigger, (yeah people had a lot of kids in earlier generations but half of them died.) they ended up leaning heavilly on economies of scale and minimal supervision to raise them producing a low quality product. Which caused the boomer gen to inevitably run wild with the hippy thing, morphing into the 70s thing
Combine that with the remanants of the early 20th century progessives and dixiecrats who's way of doing business was still active and willing to ignore the constitution anywhere conveinient ["lets be reasonable, nothing is absolute" BS]. So the counter to the hippy crap was just shittng on the constitution at every turn.

I don't mind non citizens from being on the census as long as it's clearly indicated that they are non citizens. It would be nice to know exactly how many visa holders, resident aliens, and illegals are in the nation. Of course I don't expect illegals to out themselves, but the other categories would be nice to know about in the same reporting data set so that we can understand what's going on in our country. I would be nice to see how many H1B holders are here as well after all we should have an understanding of how many American jobs are being filled by citizens of other countries.
We should also clearly state that non-citizens cannot vote in any election federal, state, or local. To allow that would mean that foreign powers would have an in at directly impacting who sits in the legislature; not to say that foreign donations don't find their way into the system as it is, but this would be another avenue of influence.
The next step to all this? Kind Civil Action. For Notorious Service Below and Behind the Call of Duty we the people now forcibly retire congress for the corrupt and self serving activity. Term limits instituted with all new elections at every level.

Looking at the past of most democrat candidates for the primaries, most of them have been teachers and artists. That party is dying, not being able to receive anybody that has done one serios hour of real work their entire life
