As far as I'm concerned, it's still 59 because a movie was grandfathered in to market Tangled as the 50th, but when I say "a" movie it's actually two different films depending on the country (Dinosaur in US+ and The Wild in UK+), and neither of them were full-on Animation Studios productions.

Fun fact: when Camilo was running towards the candle, it was confirmed that he wasn’t trying to save the candle, he was trying to reach and save Mirabel. He cared more about his cousin than his gift. Also, when he lost his magic, one of the first things he said (which can be heard in the background is “What about Antonio, what is he going to do?”
I just think that Camilo is so caring about his family and always wants to protect them and make them happy

Can we talking about Bruno being a homie? Bruno resembles his father. He's selfless, loves his family enough to separate himself from them and 'sacrifice' himself if that means that his family would be happy. Just like his father did. He was even willing to take the blame for the house falling apart so Mirabel doesn't get blamed for it and doesn't turn into him.
He was described as Seven foot frame by Camilio (shape-shifting boy) probably because he was a kid and Bruno just seemed tall to him. Plus after years of hearing bad stories about it, it probably elevated that image to about seven foot, towering, creepy man.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to think so. Add to that is the possibility that Mirabel may have replaced the candle herself--in other words, she may now be the source of the magic or the embodiment of the candle's role.

The song about Bruno gives a clear foreshadowing that Dolores knew about Bruno's presence, with the lyrics:
"I can always hear him sort of muttering and mumbling".
You can also see him in the background vibing to her part since she's the only one who's objective and understanding about his burden of foresight:
"It's a heavy lift with a gift so humbling
Always left Abuela and the family fumbling
Grappling with prophecies they couldn't understand
    Do you understand?"

Also about this verse, I kinda like to think that Dolores heard Mirabel when she was in Bruno's tower and guessed that she found the vision but didn't actually hear what was in it (maybe because the sand starting to fall and the cracks forming covered up when Mirabel said "Me?"), which is why she asks "Do you understand?" at the end of her verse, as if to say "They couldn't understand their prophecies, do you understand the one you found?"
Or it could also have been her asking if Mirabel understands the underlying message of what she said, i.e. the fact that Bruno is still around, and/or that he wasn't a bad guy.

Notes that aren't spoilers, but point to the characters -
1 ) Dolores actively participates in the opening song, and appears to really enjoy it. Her line at the end "Oh, she didn't get one" is said like it's not really that important, and her cousin is still her cousin. And what she later says to Isabella's former fiance shows what she finds important, and none of those things reference his appearance.
2 ) Antonio doesn't say he wishes Mirabel had a Gift - he says he wishes she had a DOOR. Small, but significant difference, that tells to how he loves his cousin for HER, not for any gift.
3 ) The only person that Luisa would have EVER confessed her stress and pressure to is Mirabel. Even during the song, she does little things to take care of her sister - like straightening her glasses after the iceberg line.
4 ) When Mirabel's parents stand up for their daughter, everyone I knew cheered. :D

Many of the songs explain the intense pressure or the need to be perfect to satisfy their parents. And something not many adults see (I'm so glad we got a movie about something so normalized) it's that is so normalized that when you comment this to your parents they say things like "I survived through it, it's normal" and I'm so glad this generation is finally seeing how harmful that is.

And then when we see the full story near the end it's far more detailed - we see the sword in the horseman's hand and fully understand the impact of that, young Abuella has a much bigger reaction to the loss, and then when the miracle happens she loses the chance to process her grief as she's suddenly surrounded by all those people looking to her to lead them because she's the one with the miracle and she doesn't really know what she's doing, just that she has to protect everyone. It's the difference between a child's and an adults understanding of what it means to lose everything.

I'm so glad you did this one. It is such a layered film. Like everyone seemed simple, but also carried their own complexities. The visuals were absolutely stunning. The attention to detail on the fabrics, the voice acting was amazing and realistic, there was no real 'villain'. Like you thought Abuela was the villain, but turns out she was just a victim of a greater conflict that was only briefly touched on. If you look into Colombian culture and history, the film becomes even sadder and more poignant in its telling.

There's a really cool detail someone pointed out that explains why Mirabel didn't get a gift like her cousins and sisters. If you look closely during her cousins ceremony and her flashback of her own ceremony, you'll see after Mirabel touched the candle, she wiped her hands on her dress before touching her doorknob, which then disappeared. Antonio doesn't wipe his hands. He touches the candle, then the doorknob and gets his animal powers.
What I would love to know is how Abuela's three children got their powers. How did this whole ceremony of inviting the community over, touching the candle, and getting a room that showcases their powers start? How did they discover this? Did Pepe, Bruno, and Julieta touch the candle when they were 5 by accident and get powers? Did Casita somehow tell them?

YESS your enjoyment of this was so much fun, and I love how you were so intrigued by the Latin American Magical Realism genre! And Mirabel DID have a power this whole time -- the reason her first door ceremony when she was 5 didn't work was because it was the wrong door. Recall that every family member has a door that shows them in brighter etching in the center, surrounded by a depiction of their power in lighter etching, which leads to a room that caters to their power. For Mirabel, though, her power is being the heart of the family, holding them together, getting them to open up, supporting them, and eventually leading them. Her door, which she got at the end, showed her etched more brightly in the center, with her family, the depiction of her power, etched around her more lightly, just like the other doors, and her door leads to THE WHOLE HOUSE, the FRONT door, because Casita is the representation of Mirabel's family magic. Her room is the whole house, she just needed the right door, and because her power is magical but not supernatural the way the others' powers were, it looked like she had no gift when the first door ceremony failed. This is further confirmed by the fact that Mirabel is now the embodiment of the encanto, because they never got the candle back -- Casita came back and the family powers returned because of Mirabel. I also posit that Mirabel will be the next community leader, after Abuela steps down.

You're the first one I've seen who noticed/pointed out the M on the front door was for both Madrigal and Mirabel. Mirabel is the only one in the family with a name that starts with M. That, in itself, could have been foreshadowing. From the beginning, she had the most interaction with Casita. Other than Abuela, she was the only one who openly communicated with it. Mirabel's gift is her family, she is next in line to be the keeper of the candle. Like Abuela Alma.

It only became recently in 2016 that both the government and rebel forces signed a ceasefire. Ah, I was waiting for your reaction, I've been really obsessed with this film for more than two weeks. As you said, the film is magnificent both visually, musically and in its message. And you can watch it several times to get all the details, there are so many, like for example all the pressure allegories during Luisa's song, the donkeys that are a representation of her (a beast of burden), and the fact that the fear that we see on Mirabel's face is not for herself, but for her sister who is doing too much.
You can see Bruno in the background also during the passage of Dolores in "we don't talk about Bruno" and other really well rendered expressions, like Isabella who really doesn't look comfortable in the idea of having five babies and getting married (as she later reveals).
For me, one of the greatest successes is precisely the expressiveness of the characters, through their facial expression and their movement, all of them are full of life, of emotion, with the acting as a bonus, it was ideal for this kind of films, which is not based on a villain to face for once, but on personal problems to solve (like an Inside Out).
I really loved this movie and I think it will remain one of my favorites for a long time.

They really did a great job with how you really start to resent abuela - only to realise that while her actions weren't good, they were the result of deepseated and treeible Trauma, that she never had any chance to work through. Instead of being able to seee a Therapist or lean on someone, she was mostly alone and responsible for at least the three lifes of her infants, not too mention she seems to be a Village Leader (and this seems to have been the case before, her and Pedro are leading the People out, so either they led together or he was the main leader and she assumed his role after he died) and is now responsible for rebuilding this community of refugees.
So, instead of processing and moving on, she held tight and became more and more hardened and scared of losing control.
