There are NO BAD WAYS to stack silver! If your are buying silver then you are on the right path, I would learn as much as possible before starting to buy silver. Knowledge is power.......
"Terrible Way to Stack Silver" #6. Buying too many different items/designs, (1 of these, 2 of those, etc). If you have 100 oz of different designs they become somewhat of a collection. And there's a chance you'll run into the issue of "What Ones Should I Sale", when the time is good. It happened to me!! Remedy, have tubes of ASEs, Britannias, Buffalo's, Kangaroos, etc. That way, when you let something go, (Half of tube of this, half of tube of that) it's buch easier. Just my opinion.
That’s another great point and I agree it becomes more of a collection when you get too diverse - plus you then have to keep track of the relative collectibility of each one versus having a bunch of generics. Great point!
Well look what the cat dragged in! 😂 I appreciate the welcome back and of all the stackers out there, definitely appreciate that you are not just a lock-step boot licker. You think for yourself and have no issue disagreeing with others’ opinions and backing it up. Good stuff.
Merry Christmas my friend☺💚❤ I don't recall ever battling against you for any Auction Item's. 🤣🤣 Happy, Healthy and a prosperous 2022 to you brother👊🇺🇸
Agreed, the only "fractional" silver that I would recommend would be "junk" silver (for me USA 90% Quarters). Other than that, 1oz rounds would be my minimum size of silver purchase. I do buy some collectable silver items via online auction - these are hard to find collectable items and I know I am paying more per ounce than I should - but those go into my collection, not my "stack". Like your last point - better to buying silver collections than other useless item collections!!

Why thanks so much! It has been a necessary absence and I'm excited to be back with my community friends such as yourself. Thanks so much for saying hello!
I am in a brief (hopefully) hiatus from silver until the prices come down. Yes, gold has been my main stack for a while now. I don’t stack much cash other than an emergency fund because I use it to fund other very liquid hard money lending type operations.
I've never bought a single gram of silver but I have quite a bit of constitutional silver, all of which I bought at or very close to spot. Also I really dislike the large bars and man are those things hard to move. Of the coin dealers that I have known at least three of them refuse/refused anything larger than ten ounces. Anything larger was too difficult to move and the hundred ounce bars can be hollowed out and filled with lead. Good stuff and good to see you back. Thanks!
Yes! Good to know I'm not out on an island by myself lol. I agree on all counts and our LCSs must be very similar in their approach. Thank you very much for commenting! And good to see you as well.
Silver here (CZ) is incredibly overprized. Spot 1oz 502 CZK, cheapest bar 1250 CZK (AH) - 1450 CZK (PAMP), Coin (Philharmoniker) 790 CZ, also, there is 21% VAT on silver, no tax on pure gold. So, stacking silver has not much tradition. Prague groschen are popular, but silver content is secondary.
I've been in other countries where the VAT just destroys incentive to stack, and why would you when you have that kind of "premium" attached to every ounce. Ouch! SO when you say pure gold, does that include bullion with less than 24k gold such as a Krugerrand? Or does it have to be 24k?
@@VerticalStacker it has to be 90%+, so Krugerrands and Eagles are OK, also historical Crows, Dukats, Rubles... Cheapest 1 oz of gold is Philharmoniker pure gold coin, even cheaper than bars, but smaller have some significant premium. I decided to start with 5-10 g bars, acceptable premium and possible financialy for monthly stacking. May be I can afford some nice coins later. I am new in this, I am hobby goldwasher, so I dig some gold and buy some gold... 🌟⛏️❤️😀

Hey hey hey! Good to hear from my friend FLR! I don’t even remember my gestures, so no need to bring it up lol. Hope all is well for you and looking forward to more interaction!
I agree with part of your methodology. However, I would never purposely see myself with less than 100 ounces of Silver in my stack. So long as we are not in a genuine crisis, which goes far beyond anything we've experienced in the United States over the last 80 years or so, I would always be trying to grow my stack until I'd reached my core positions in Gold, Silver, Nickel, and Copper (emphasis on Gold & Silver). At a minimum, that would mean 5,000 ounces of Silver and at least 100 ounces of Gold or more. Since I'm nowhere near that level, I don't foresee a time in the near future when I won't still be accumulating. Given the circumstances around the world and at home, I would also not be trading in and out of my position, until after I'd reach my core position and had established some clearly discretionary amount of whatever monetary metal it was that I wanted to trade with. My stack avoids fractional Silver outside the 90%, 40%, or 35% variety. I focus on the 90% and only pick up the other on occasions when I can get a very good deal. In other words, you won't see my buying fractional bullion of any kind, nor will you see me buying pours or any kind of channel specific Silver. I save the collecting and other fun stuff for when I've established my core positions, and I'm just not there yet. My stack is made up 50% Constitutional or Junk Silver, all of it being proportional. So if I had 20 Morgan dollars, that necessarily means that I would have 20 Peace dollars, 80 half dollars as evenly split between '65 Kennedys, Franklin halves, and Walking Liberty halves as is possible. That would also mean that I'd have 160 Washington Silver quarters (no Standing Liberty & no Barbers), and of course I'd have 200 Mercury dimes and 200 Roosevelt dimes as well. Those are not actual numbers, but just examples of how my stack is structured. I think I'm between $700 to $800 face value currently, so I've got a long way to go. The other half of my Silver stack is composed of 1/3 government minted bullion coins (i.e. American Silver Eagles, Canadian Maples, Mexican Libertads, Brittanias, and Austrian Philharmonics) weighted 85% toward the ASE. The other 1/3 is composed of generic Silver rounds, and the last 1/3 is composed of generic 1 ounce bullion bars. I also passively purchase, mostly 90%, for what I call my sellable stack, which I use to insulate my core position from the necessity of being used immediately in an emergency. So I add anywhere from 2 to maybe 10 ounces in any given year to that small stack of mostly 90% Constitutional, which I do not count as part of my overall stack. I avoid anything larger than 1 ounce because fakes are more possible as the size increases, and your universe of possible buyers increases with the smaller increment size. This same concept applies to Gold and is part of what justifies paying something of a premium for smaller denomination Gold coins. My hope is to never use my stack of monetary metals. If I must, I will use them in an emergency or in order to supplement the falling ability of Americans entirely denominated in fiat currencies to actually retire, but my hope is to pass it on to my family when I die. You can't take it with you, and the entire reason that I have a stack of monetary metals is born specifically out of prudence and a desire to take care of those that I love. Pretty simple.
I’m amazed at how proportional your stack is. I can appreciate you not buying channel silver/pours. I get it. I got caught up in stupid and made some painfully poor decisions motivated by pride, ego, and more. It happens, but discipline comes with experience, which comes mainly through undisciplined actions. I’m certainly smarter today than I was two years ago, five years ago, etc. I’m going to give your proportionality process some thought. I don’t know whether it would work for my style of stacking, but I am intrigued. Thank you for the thoughtful comment.
