When I was 23 my mum died of cancer after 25 years of constant psychological and emotional abuse from my dad.. When she died I didn't blame God but I also didn't know Him... I suffered from emotional pain, guilt and remorse for 15 years and saw many dark times... I was atoning for my dad's cruelty.. I was feeling the things that he should have been feeling for what he did to her.. I felt hat, if I didn't feel it then it was like it never happened and I couldn't allow that to happen to my mum. I became a Christian about 4 years ago and those lyrics mean so much to me.. " 'Oh trampled death, where is your sting?' The Angel's roar for Christ the King..." In her death she found freedom and victory over that darkness. I came to realize that my mum had always sacrificed her happiness, her freedom, her hopes and her dreams to protect us from our dad.. She was kind, loving, compassionate and so forgiving to all life.. Through Jesus I found that my sadness, pain and grief over my mum's death - had turned into immense gratitude for what she had sacrificed to keep us safe from his darkness.
