The Vat of Acid idea reminds me of the Pirates of The Pancreas. Some old idea Rick had that he’s waaaay to attached to that gets dumped on by everyone.
Lmao Pirates of the Pancreas
Interesting idea.
(too* before attached) but yeah, I agree
I loved this episode. It was definitely an instant Rick and morty classic. It had such a mix of emotion and comedy. And gives us more reasons to be pissed at Jerry.
Yeah it felt like a season 1 episode

Rick's laser gun didn't need to be charged when Morty shot it. It was turned to a lower setting so Rick could shoot a hole in the gangsters ladle.
Ass 2 the movie is an easter egg of the movie "idiocracy" no?
I was so looking for that exact comment !! xD
Kieth Crazy I don’t understand your comment
And in 15:00 Morty sets the gun to max when shooting the ladle ends up killing the cop.
@@omsymosh You’d think a channel that rinses and repeats the same clips would notice. Thank god for writers and animators making the bums of society active for 15:02 minutes a time.
5:49 I think in the second run, Morty ordered the lobster dish that Summer has ordered.
Thank you, was looking for this
Yes I just commented about this, hella obvious, glad others noticed
Hahaha I’ve been looking for this comment
Yeah how did they not get this? Morty was holding up two fingers as in “make that two” or “two of those” referring to the lobster
Aaaaaaaaand THIS is why I read the comments before I post.
At the start of this episode i thought they were gonna pull a bojack horseman and rick and morty are going to say in the “acid” for the full episode while the mobster aliens were gonna have a big monologue.
I was lowkey hoping for that actually XD
I wish
Which would have been ironic when the Emmy gives this ep an award over bojack
That would have been hilarious!
I just realized the Ball Fondlers movie theater sign was screaming that Morty was in alternate dimensions.
They let us know 7 mins into the episode....
That refrence makes so much sense now
pkleaf freaking right
Holy shit
Morty: Wait you’re not even my Rick? Then...how’d you know about the vat?
Rick: EVERY RICK HAS A VAT!!!
The blaster didn't need to recharge it was just set on low because rick turned it down to kill the rat
yup, and too shoot the ladle
Jari Fuller to*

Jerry resetting the long romance story literally made me cackle with laughter
And to think Morty melted right in front of them.
It made me feel so bad...
So bad...
Made me feel bad
That was so priceless. And then he keeps getting maced
It made me scream in anger .
Totally agree this is THE best episode of this season. No fan service. No meta humor. Just a good old fashioned episode about a grandpa murdering hundreds of versions of himself.
Luke Johnson I disagree that the meta humor has gone overboard, I think that it’s the perfect amount. There is also some meta humor I think.
Except it is Morty who killed other Morty's
@@dorjjodvo1992 true. Rick did kill the first one though
Doni Bathuu same old story, morts killin mortys
Isn’t that season 5 ep 2?
That whole section with Mortys Girlfriend hit me in a different way, I felt really bad. I kinda cried too 😭
I know it was going to be twisted in some way but I still had tears in my eyes.
Ikr, i lowkey felt that
It made me depressed bruh
I was fcking pissed cos i saw that scene online b4 i watched this episode.
Any other that did that id feel bad but its morty. Of course that would happen
This episode was funny and sad at the same time
Have to say this episode was really cool one of my favs.
Totally

I see the moes bar and when Morty killed himself at the gorilla it reminds me of deadpool's killing himself and the remote is a bit like the matrix pill
Red and blue pill. Nice catch
I thought it was a Harambe joke
Literally cried when I remembered rick told morty to go nuts with the device.
This is by far the best episode of Rick and Morty so far. Change my mind. I watched it again after watching it the first time. Then I watched it two more times that day.
*of this season.
There was definitely better episodes imo but this was probably the most fun I had watching rick and morty
Long reign episode 3.01!!!
@@jesse1086 Hahaha I was just thinking that. The cliffhanger was soooo built up and then we got "...anyway, that's how I escaped from space prison".
I knew at that point it was gonna be a great episode.
probably cause we had so many bad episodes in a row it stands out
I'm sad we're never gonna see Morty's girlfriend. :(
First time Morty had ever done something right outside of Rick
Probably will, just not the way we are expecting...
I felt the pain for Morty
Maybe, maybe one day they'll be kind to morty...
There’s atleast one reality where it worked out
Why hasn’t anyone talk about how rick told Morty “since when have you been this cocky” what if this is just a way for Rick to prevent Morty from getting “too” cocky like Evil Morty did
Supremesock Nah, we are watching Morty become evil Morty in this season. This is like an alternative timeline to season 1.
It’s even crazier to think that jerry killed a different Morty in an other universe
another*
Which episode? I don't remember :O
@@Kemaaaaa this one, by using the remote at the end of the episode
It’s in the vat of acid episode
@@David_AC90 uoy evah dco
Uh he’s saying make that two after seeing how good summer’s order looked lol.
also has anyone else thought about how rick said "a cocky morty can lead to some big problems" in episode 10 season 1 and rick said in the opening scene "when did you get so cocky"
Your point?
@@stephanrobert5593 Why do you have to be like that?
I like the irony that they talked about feminism and women having speaking parts 2 episodes ago, and the most important female character here doesn’t have a name, doesn’t speak and only interacts with Morty for romantic reasons.
Not really ironic, the whole point of Morty passing the Bechdel Test then was to break the barrier by telling a story that’s different enough from what Rick and Morty is normally like. They’re basically saying “we know we don’t pass your stupid feminism test and we don’t care”.
Battlesheep I thought it was to prove a point that the bechdel test alone cannot decide whether a story is good enough or not. And that it’s better to have well written male characters then poorly written female characters because they have to avoid using a certain formula. Basically we should cut male writers slack for not knowing how to write a convincing female character.
I honestly thought they were gonna stay in the acid the whole episode 🤣
Me too - and glad they didn't.
It would have been like that fly episode from breaking bad lol
@Yamitayo that’s why it would have been wacky lmao
When Jerry pushes the button, and Morty comes to the realization that it all disappeared reminds me of when I wake up from an immersive dream.
I love the fact that the Metoo thing could've been from Morty going into the women's restroom
This is a stretch but the watch poster that said “Reset” could be a reference to that Fairly Odd Parents episode where Timmy has a watch that can redo reality
Morty is clearly breathing after getting shocked by Rick
I wonder why morty didnt save during that whole time.
The creativity in this episode made this one of the best episodes yet
Honestly that was the only episode on season four that I truly laughed out loud, when jerry hits the reset button, damn that was funny
How did you not laugh at slut dragon?
@@EF-wy3di the dragon episode was the worst rick and morty yet
7:18 ok that girl's room is so cool
The first movie “ass” was featured in the movie Idiocracy. 😂
And in the snake 🐍 episode... did anyone else see the poster of back to the future the snake version ? 🤣
The 'Return the Whales' sign makes me think of Star Trek IV: A Voyage Home where they went back in time to get humpback whales to bring back to the future to stop an alien ship with their song
This is what I came looking for, my thought exactly
This is my most favorite rick and morty episode. I got so emotional at morty's relationship. and realises that it was just another rick's jokes and prank on morty. damn you rick
“Are you dying of dementia?!?!”
does 11:58 remind anyone else of when Ego shows Star Lord "eternity" in Guardians 2?
I'm pretty certain morty just also ordered the hummer, that summer got
Remember, alternate timeline/dimention morties were probably also screwing around with horrific reset buttons
small detail: the garage clock stays locked in at 2am, even when morty wakes up at 3am to ask what rick was up to
You noticed that too!
@@BSKI05 glad to see I wasn't the only one! cant imagine the animators would miss out this detail though, makes me wonder if it's done on purpose for some reason unbeknownst to us yet
The ice cream flavors (at least 4 of them) are based on Rick and Morty artists and designers. Kinda cool.
Did anybody realize that when Morty woke at 3:00 a.m to find Rick, the clock in background was at 2:00
In all the episodes I have watched so far the clock in Rick's garage lab is always at 2:00 either day or night
Is that intended by the producers?
anyone else think its weird they called this "the vat of acid episode"? it sounds like something you would call it if you were referring it from the past in the future, almost like this episode has something huge that'll be called back apon in future by the fans, that seems like the type of meta shit justin would do
When Rick says “when did my job become pitching you ideas”
The last time they mentioned pitching ideas it was with Rick and “pirates of the pancreas” it would make sense for Rick to be touchy when it comes to pitching ideas because the last time they didn’t like it.
There was a also a reference in there about mortys inevitable heroin addiction lmfao
What?
What?
What?
Vat?
@@uncleflagzz underrated comment^
I don't know how you missed the obvious one.. When Morty finds himself in a romance simulation, the soundtrack in the background is similar to the SIMS soundtrack, everything that happens around that theme looks like the SIMS gameplay..
I would love if you would discuss Evil Morty related to this episode!
Rick's extreme reaction to Morty's cocky attitude refers very clearly to Rick's earlier statement that a cocky Morty can lead to some big problems. The slowly shifting dynamics in the relationship between Rick and Morty + the whole merging of all the horrible memories into one Morty seems like another huge build up to Evil Morty.
The mind blowers death could be a nod to mind blowers being 3x8 and this is 4x8. This series does have a time loop theme running through it.
Hot take: That was literally the vat-of-acid of Rick and Morty episodes.
When Morty “reset just to get 2 of his meal” he actually saw summers meal and decided he wanted to get it also
When Rick calls the acid mountain dew during the cop with the ladle scene, the Netflix subtitles say Dr Pibb instead of mountain dew. I just thought that was cool/weird
This isn't on Netflix
Matthew Hale depending on your country, it actually is... learned that when we went to Ireland during season 2 and were able to watch the newest episode like 2 days after it aired while in our hotel on a laptop. Its odd but real lol
Netflix has different things to watch depending on the country you are in.
If you have Netflix and would like to watch rick and morty then use a VPN.
@@matthewhale1572 its on netflix in Australia
The movie Ass 2 was that maybe a easter egg referring to Idiocracy
"The #1 movie in America was called "Ass." And that's all it was for 90 minutes. It won eight Oscars that year, including best screenplay."
This episode is by far my favorite not only because it's so good but also because it almost makes me cry 😅
Instant Classic !
Now we now why we had a mid season break .
Remember, Rick killed himself first to prove to Morty about the gun, THEN he shot Morty.
the remote reminded me of the movie Click with adam sandler
I’m starting to wonder where Dan and Justin on 9/11.
Jim Dot Beep maybe they’re telling us someth...
I kept telling my friends that the ball Rick was working on in the garage at the first part of the episode was the flying death ball from Phantasm..
Here's something...
I think Rick knows about evil morty and the rise of the Morty Ratio to Rick... so this was like a win win to keep the morty ratio lower than ricks...
Dang, this was good. I had no idea this episode had so many easter eggs. Going to check out your other videos for this season now.
6:40 I thought that referenced Fairy Odd Parents. They have a similar style episode, but with a watch as the device to go back to the saved spot
*the gun is set to low to shoot the ladle meaning Morty’s first shot was on low. Rick adjusts the power to high to disintegrate the guys.
I have to say that is this the first time Morty maintains a relationship, apart from Rachel from the episode "Anatomy Park"
3rd place still doesn't fill the void in my soul
13:52 And some how the media says we are offended by 911 jokes. They just dont get it
At 6:17 I think the names are a play on famous characters from time travel movies, like Kyle Rhees from Terminator and Michael Caine is in the Prestige which is mentioned in this episode. Idk the others tho
By far my favorite episode of the series.
5:56 he didn't order two of his thing, he realised summer's dish was better so gee got that too
This was the best episode yet ...saved the season for me
Morty has been getting so fed up with Rick
This episode won an Emmy!
This might be my favorite episode ever, and Promortyus, the episode before this, is also a big standout, loving the second half of season 4!
Good job! :)
You forgot to mention that one of the protest signs has the Morty face from the original comic "Doc and Mharti"
I'm surprised that there aren't any Adam Sandler's Click (2006) reference in this break-down!!
mortys done face @1:08 kills me
2:46 I don't think thr blaster "wasn't charged". Rick had toned down its power to blast the ladel that the maffia guys had lowered to make it seem like the ladel had dissolved in the acid.
Morty shot with a low-power gun. Rick took over and put it at maximum power again.
anyone else think the buttons on the save state device look like the red and blue pills from the matrix? "Do you want me to explain it to you or do you just want to have fun?" seems like a reversal of the original premise.
wait, so the final rick is a different one, but returns WITH morty?
Would have been a clever foreshadowing to have some of the ice cream flavor names change in every reset to signify the AUs as Ricky mentions Rocky Road's differences at the end of the episode.
7:03
That head is from Mr. Pickles
Blue and red crystals used are direct nod to matrix’s choice of blue and red pill!
Goddamn it, Morty actually had a good life going on.
@13:06 call me crazy but the character in that video game looks an awfully lot like Calculon from Futurama (fighting the robot devil maybe?)
This episode is already a modern classic
6:36 the watch banner with RESET it might be a refrence to that Fairly Odd Parents episode where Timmy wishes a LITERALLY magic reset watch
I almost cried during this episode. How sad was it.
On the movie theater the movie names i think that one is Backdoor Sl*ts Nine, which is also from south park to go along with those references
Could also be the "save the whales" sign but could be alittle stretch
@ 2:49 blaster was set to a lower setting to kill the rat. Not recharging
I just came back to this and realised the '69 Dodge Charger Morty drives on his rampage looks quite similar to Brock Samson's ride in Venture bros.
Interestingly, Jeffrey Dahmer used a vat of acid too.
Love all the videos
I don't really think that the series finale of Futurama is what Rick was referring to. The Futurama video game has that very idea as a very meta video game mechanic in which the Professor invented a device to respawn your character when you die.
i noticed right away that the beginning of the vat of acid episode was akin to that of Futurama's intro
I think this Episode mentions Sotmayor as a reference to the episode with the brief clip of Ruth Bader Ginsberg
Was not prepared for the Harambe tribute
4:48 Rick only stun Morty, u can M still breathing
and drooling
So in order to protect your privacy the company named Privacy will collect all of your CC info? Or am I not quite getting it?
Ass 2 is a refrence to what Rick and summer was talking about in the dragon episode
Anyone else think that scene where morty kills himself over and over in the gorilla cage seems like when Deadpool kills himself over and over 1 being by jumping into a gorilla cage
Smeed29 or it’s the old movie Groundhog Day
Morty:I am learning english
Rick:its the language you speak
i thought the post credit was joker themed
