    This documentary was excellent! With all her remarkable accomplishments, her awards, and extraordinary public life, showing her daily life at home really is a fantastic way to bookmark her amazing life! it is for sure that through films like this, the echoes of her magnificent life will be heard for a long time to come! I commend you, my friend, for giving us the opportunity to get wrapped up in the life of such a profoundly resplendent soul! In a world intoxicated with instant celebrity and shallow internet famous people, I thank you for reminding us what a true life of meaning is all about through Helen Keller!

      Thanks for watching. Yes, observing Helen in her home is always interesting.
      This film is classified as a "theatrical documentary". I suppose that means things are scripted and rehearsed before filming. (rather like today's so-called "reality shows".) But even so...I think the home scenes are very revealing. Anyway, have great new day ahead!

    What an incredible woman, a strong force to be reckoned for her amazing strength and positive approach of life. Her blindness did not stop her to do the things she enjoys, like walking and feeling the flowers and the grasses. Thank you dear friend for sharing Helen keller's beautiful story. I wish you a pleasant start of the week!

    I enjoyed seeing Patty Duke. She was the one who introduced me to Helen Keller, by playing her in that very movie, The Miracle Worker. It's a movie that will likely stay with me till the end of my life. So many small unexpected events to keep Helen riveted to the present, clearly, vividly in her heart! Wonderful clip Helen!

    • @IamHelenKeller
      @IamHelenKeller  3 роки тому

      Yes... I prefer the 1962 version of "The Miracle Worker" with Patty Duke and Anne Bancroft. (Actually I thought Anne Bancroft was also in Alfred Hitchcock's movie "The Birds". Until someone pointed out that it was Susan Pleshette that played the role of the school teacher in that film. LOL. But anyway...I'm glad you enjoyed the little film clip.

    It says it's a 1954 documentary but a 1955 oscar and helen kellers death in 1968 are mentioned. So what part of this is from 1954, when was the other stuff produced, and when was it cut together?

    • @IamHelenKeller
      @IamHelenKeller  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Julian...those are questions you would have to ask the producers of the film, whom have all probably passed away many years ago. I think there are film clips of Helen in this documentary from several different time periods. Some as early as 1919. Anyway, hope things are going well for you. Best Wishes! :)

    footage from 7:02 to 7:24 on walk outside house pushing branch out of way was used in the 1963 bigraphy by Mike Wallace on you tube by Les Tuttle at 22:31 to 22:52 Why is the Wallace footage so unclear , cloudy and grainy at this point compared to In My Story? Wallace also has her leaving the house at 22:21 to 22:30 which matches uop to In Her Story, but again why so poor qauality?

      In the video description of the Les Tuttle video...he says the film footage he used comes from VHS recordings from the early 1980's of Mike Wallace's "Biography" series from the early 1960's. VHS tapes often deteriorate very badly over the years (speaking from personal experience). And that can result in degraded poor quality images. Best Wishes!

    We I could've met Miss Keller. Think how they could've help'd her with todays medicene.

      Yes, modern medicine might have prevented her handicaps which were caused by scarlet fever...or perhaps meningitis. At the time...little could be done cure severe cases. Thanks for stopping by. it's a pleasure to see you here.
