I am impressed with your WRAP demonstration. All those straps shown in your vlog reminded me of what had happened to me when I was committed to the Mental Hospital where I became institutionalized for over a month with additional 90 days as ordered by the probate court after three days of assessment, 11 years ago, Anyway, my long and strict confinement under intensive and constant supervision, I got in trouble for my violent behavior and high emotions . The hospital psychiatrist ordered me to be strapped to a bed , The two stocky orderlies locked me into leather cuffs with locking mechanism that required a key to release, for my wrists and ankles, That was when I became quiet but now was upset and embarrassed, Then they fastened a belt on my forehead, another one on my chest, yet another one on my waist, and still another one on my knees, All of them were really snug, But I am still breathing just fine and my blood circulation was okay, One orderly checked on me every 15 minutes, He also brought a sip cup of water from time to time for me to drink with the belt off my forehead, He also would ask me if I were okay when I was awake from my sleep, I would reply yes. Finally I was released after four hours! Later on I was restrained for the second time, The psychiatrist then placed me in waist leather belt with attached leather cuffs and leather shackle cuffs. My hands were released only for meals. But still I could walk around in hallways and the day room, and attended mandatory therapy sessions and workshops before I would return to my cell, My cell mate would help me and accompany with me sometimes, Now I realized that restraints had helped to calm me down. However, if it should happen to me again, would prefer my hospital and restraints over your WRAP and jails, Ha! I must apologize for my long-winded story, You folks have done an excellent job on your vlogs with demonstrations. Okay, bye for now!
I watched a body cam video of a wrap being employed. It was not quick to stop the conflict, nor was it de-escalating, and being placed sideways in the back of a police car hardly appears a safe way to transport. It took considerable time and additional force to place the person, whom was already handcuffed in the back of a police vehicle, into the wrap. The wrap was used as a threat against the person who was panicking (crying / hyperventilating) over being restrained, that if they did not calm down, they would have to be placed in even more restraint ( the wrap ), which they had to wait to be brought by another officer to the scene, and during which time they could have already arrived at the police station and released the panicking person from their initial restrain.
