I have a 14k 2.5 Cuban and it has an 18k plating. I’m looking forward to the plating wearing off as it’s a daily chain. I like the lighter tone of 14k against my skin.
The coloring difference between 2 different chains in the same purity is due to one having a higher karat plating. On your thoughts about never going back down in purity after getting up there in 22/24K is something I've been contemplating lately. For me, it's the fact that I don't feel comfortable having clasps on 24K (hate M & S clasps), which limits the length for me to 24" or longer to slip over my head. Plus, there's much more variety to pick from in 14/18K. My favorite style is the Box chain in the 3-5mm range, & can't seem to find much above 14K. I feel like the smaller, machine made Miami Cuban links all have tighter links compared to the larger, handmade Cubans.
I do love the tighter links of the smaller chains! But honestly it’s not a problem for me to alternate purities. I say go for it especially if you’re going for variety
You know I’m not sure since majority of micro ones are machine made and imported, I feel like they’d all be the same kinda filing. Maybe you can ask Daniels to handmake one for you
I’ve purchased so many chains on HRC because of your vids lol. Can you please review the 18k flat curb tho? I bought one from Sarraf and it’s garbage 🤮There’s also not many pictures on the site
I’m never confident enough to buy from a website. Go to a jewelry store and 14k solid gold Cuban 3mm at 20 inches runs about $3,000 while the website is under a thousand, something’s got to be up
That's extreme markup for store overhead, employee payroll, etc. Many manufacturers/companies are now going direct to consumers and online businesses have very few employees if not one person running everything so those savings get passed on. My testing and appraisals always reflect what the jewelry was advertised to be. Just need to be knowledgeable about jewelry which the average person is not and that is how people get ripped off for 17 grams worth of gold jewelry for $3000.

I get that. Thankfully I’ve built trust with certain online brands. Majority of jewelry stores are up charging like crazy
Check the price of gold and how many grams you’re buying… then you’ll see that jewelry stores are the ones you shouldn’t be trusting.
