  • Detail some habitat improvements we did this summer on some retired CRP ground with shrub and tree plantings. Recap this past season from the beginning of the archery season to the accumulation of harvesting a great slough buck during the rifle season. Share a few tips like how to prepare mock scrapes and licking branches along with scouting in country with big agriculture.
The Great Plains states can offer some quality deer hunting opportunities on the prairie but there are much lower deer population densities and quality wintering habitat can be limited where bad winters can be devastating on deer numbers. Because of the recent bad winters and lower deer numbers, we are using this as an opportunity to establish more desirable shrubs and trees with aggressive plantings.
