They can turn their defense around and be really good. And if not, why not be just like the 2017 Rose Bowl team that beat Penn State 52-49? You don't need an elite defense to win games anymore. You just need offense, and where they are located, he can get a local 5 star QB, RB, and multiple 5 star WR's and turn it around. If the defense thing happens along the way, then that's just an added bonus.

The 10 game wins every season is great in the sunbelt, but he never won the conference. Whats his signature win against a P5 power? It’s not really hard to recruit to Florida, especially when FSU and Miami are down. As long as he’s not a lazy recruiter similar to Mullen he will do well in that aspect. I think he’ll be replaced in 4 years. This hire have red flags all over the place.

We keep hearing about how "LSU is a top 5 job." I listen every week unless it's the worthless (to me) betting pod late in the week. Why do we never really get any in-depth analysis about why LSU has all of these advantages but never really gets any serioius interest from who are considered to be top candidates?

Here's the problem with the Luke Fickle thing. I think that you have made some good points, but Cincinnatti is joining the Big 12 in two years. Why should he leave when they are going to be in a potential power conference in two years? He could sustain this success in the Big 12 and then win a national title with better recruits and only have to leave to take one of the jobs he "wants" to take.
If I were Riley and money everywhere was equal, I would have took the LSU job as choice 1, stayed at OU 2, went to Florida 3 and USC would have been option 4.

Three years max for Napier. He’s never recruited for an SEC team as a head coach. He’s always been able to say come play for ______. Never had to recruit against the likes of Georgia, Bama, Kentucky, or Ole Miss. Florida wants to be known for womens’s basketball. Ask Stricklin, he’ll tell ya.
I disagree. Urban Meyer had never recruited at a school like Utah...and people said he would fail because he coached Bowling Green. Well he was successful at Utah. Then everyone was saying Meyer would fail at UF because he never had coached in the SEC. Well he won big. So your logic is off. If your a very good recruiter, you can recruit anywhere. Freeman has no head coaching experience and no major recruiting experience outside of some defensive players. So if you think lowly of Fickell then should think less of Freeman. Now I think Fickell and Freeman don’t fit OU job because of where they are and what they are familiar in seeing and coaching and recruiting and scheduling and scheming for and against. Meaning one takes the Notre Dame job and the other stays put or Fickell to Notre Dame and Freeman to Cincinnati.

Here's the problem with the Luke Fickle thing. I think that you have made some good points, but Cincinnatti is joining the Big 12 in two years. Why should he leave when they are going to be in a potential power conference in two years? He could sustain this success in the Big 12 and then win a national title with better recruits and only have to leave to take one of the jobs he "wants" to take.
If I were Riley and money everywhere was equal, I would have took the LSU job as choice 1, stayed at OU 2, went to Florida 3 and USC would have been option 4.

UTSA, UNT, Tulsa, La Tech, or Houston is possible especially if Houston moves to Big12 while OU is still in the conference as we all know how Dana Holgersen likes to use former castoff players who were perceived to be mistreated or were mistreated by previous programs in current or future conference and stick it to said colleges and conferences. I could see him going to Utah State out west or Colorado State since he is from out west. The only P5 spots that make the most sense would be his home state of Arizona. The only SEC college that could take him and fit is if they keep their head coach and that’s Ole Miss and Kiffin still at the helm.
