Pastor Bradshaw explanation reminds me of the woman at the well. The woman tried to get into theological argument with Jesus, talking about how the people suppose to worship God on the mountain. The woman seemed to be used to getting into some debate to appear religious. However, as the story goes, the woman was filled with brokenness as she moved from one relationship to another. The 6th man she was with at that time was not even her husband. How common we see this in everyday occurrence where the things that people say are not reflective of the state of the inner being. We are used to present the outward appearance as a prop to hide brokenness underneath.
