Poor turtle.. He just wanted to know what it meant
"c'mon, for real, guys... what does that mean?"
Gray Fruit

Thank you.
Legend has it, till this day he still does not understand what that means, and neither do we
@@grayfruit holy shit dude i love you
Every sound in this song, and in all of The Avalanches music is a sample. It's really incredible. They don't get the credit they deserve, not even a fraction of it. It's a unique microgenre of music called plunderphonics , btw. Which, obviously or not, means literally "stolen sounds". That's the reason it takes more than a decade for each new Avalanches album to be made. Not because they aren't working their asses off, but because every sound you hear is a sample that has to first be sourced, or found, then woven into a song with all the other samples, which would take long enough as it is, but then the band has to write to the owners of each sound sample, like if its taken from a certain movie or song, they have to write and ask for permission to use that sample, then wait to hear back and make sure they get the go ahead, or else they could, and very likely would in most cases, be sued. And if they never hear back, or hear back and the answer is no, then they have to scrap that whole element, and try to find something else that will work in its place. And if they can't find something else that will work in its place, or get permission to use THAT sample, or any others in that one song? Then they have to scrap the whole song. The entire scope of their work and how much goes into all of it is really too much for most of us to even wrap our heads around. I sort of wonder if they are even human sometimes, or if they are some sort of super powerful breed of aliens, or a small group of gods that got together out of the goodness of their hearts to create these gifts to mankind that each of their songs, much less each album, or their entire discography, is.
Thank you, The Avalanches. We truly are not worthy.
😊👍
Beautifully said
We Love you The Avalanches. Thank you for those awesome gifts 🎁 ❤ ❤ 🫡 well said.
If there could only be one thing that represents humanity for an alien species to find I'm totally okay with it being this.
You found us out this comment will be deleted and your brain will be erased
Can you imaging the casting call for this video? Do you think they were told what they'd be making?

director: we got some weird ideas!
avalanches : yes
Anyone else's favorite part the ghosts swaying back and forth?! :D
Now I wish I'd been one of those ghosts.
Nope, Egyptian chic for sure.
Absolutely! And the little old lady on the end of the row cracks me up every time!
This is my new favorite song. It makes me happy. It doesn't remind me of my past or look to the future. I'm just in the present.
it disturbs me how much I like this.....
My Cousin called Dexter introduced me to this song; It resonated with him for some reason.
+Joseph Braga he's a nut! Crazier than a coconut!
+Jordan (FoeHammer) what does that mean?
And now for something completely different.
I recently picked up a new sword from this strange woman lying in the pond, Now I am king!
grandma playing drums always makes me laugh
None of us will ever be as awesome as any of the people in this video.
Why does this give me nostalgia? I don't know where I remember it from.
+Parabola Same boat
+Parabola We were all in the chair once, straps to the temple and light behind. Some of us remember it more than others; some did not take as well as the rest.

have you ever seen the film Inside I'm Dancing?
The main melody Is used as music in Basically every german tv-report...

What people think when they first meet me: 0:52
The production of DJ Shadow
The samples of RJD2

Q-Bert and Shadow are great.

*UA-camr voice* storytime: way back in 6th grade, my friends and i were in different classes. the math teacher always had eccentric taste in music. this was played regularly for the kids in her homeroom, and became a cult.
The curly-q black instrument is called a Serpent, it's an obsolete medieval instrument evolutionarily related to many different brass and woodwind instruments of our more recent times.
The CC on this is pure gold.
I tend to listen to a lot of experimental music in the last couple years, things like Godspeed You! and Swans and Sonic Youth, and today I found this song and I remembered really liking this back when I was 13, so maybe I always enjoyed weird ass music.
most of this was sampled from the film polyester (1981). its is a great film you guys should watch it!
No, not most. Just the opening dialogue about Dexter. All of John Waters filmography is God tier , though. He's a gift to mankind.

@@AllTheCloudsArePink TIL that the genre of music is called Plunderphonics and I just love that!
absolutely amazing music. I have no idea how you do this. I don't know why you're not super famous. This is an amazing piece of art. Thank you for making it.
It's actually super cool what they do. They take samples from old records and mess around with them and they get these awesome songs!
@@laserpigeon778 That's even selling it a little short. The album this is from uses roughly 3,500 samples total. Impressive to say the least. Totally underrated!
@@k-dogg711 Didn't it take about a decade to get permission for all of the samples used?
This is one of the most creative things ever in the history of the universe . X
I don't usually like this kind of music, but this is freaking great.
I was not aware this song had a music video. This is the greatest thing I've ever seen (this week).
"Bird is the word!"
This is the kind of music that hits home if you can remember where home is
I forgot 🙄
The Avalanches are an AUSTRALIAN band!
This makes complete sense now.
What the heck is that supposed to mean?
How many Australians do you think understand any of this?
***** VINDICATION! Thank you!
IvanStrelnikov
As an Australian I can confirm, it only rates a 4 on the confusion scale
malikbane I want an Australian Confusion Scale chart now.
I have no idea what I watched but I kinda like it 😂
Man I think this stuff just kicked in. I gotta call my dealer and apologize.
this song is weirdly good o_o
I honestly have watched this 3 times in a row, and now i think I might need therapy...
This is something that I'd imagine Lew from Unbox Therapy listens to, all day, every day.
I watched this while high. Pure euphoria
This is utterly, blissfully absurd. Crazy in the coconut. Love it!!
This is so fucking weird but I love it so much
As a folk/bluegrass/blues/rock fan, this is one of the few electronic music artists I actually like. Really original and cool; but maybe that's just because I have never heard any other groups/artists who are that good.
Have you listened to Chemical Brothers Surrender or Leftfield Leftism both worthy electronic albums
@@stevenwardrope1460 thanks for the tip. I may have to check those out!
Such a great song! I wish I had an ounce of musical talent that The Avalanches have
this vid better have millions of views elsewhere, tooo incredible

MadBrainBox excellent (mr. burns voice)

This video is 11 years old but I had this album 13 years ago
pretty ingenious video tbh, underrated.
This song is crazier than a coconut.
Perfect music video. Their one for Since I Left You is brilliant too. Wish they made more videos haha.

very very strange video but still made of awesome
When they started cutting and scratching the crow -
I nearly lost my shit.
I just found this rare jewel. What a fucking delight.
I love this song. It's just simply Crazy, but a masterpiece at the same time.
Happy 20th Anniversary to the original Lo-Fi jam!
This is an art piece still
this music video is hypnotic.

Pure madness

DjR37 Yeah, I know.

The automatic captions make about as much sense as the actual lyrics!
OMG It all makes sense now
In a covid world this seems strangely normal
This is what goes on inside my head in school! xD
I swear to god Ive watched this video at least a dozen times and Im still noticing new details.
Underrated
The Avalanches are all Crazy in the Coconut ! hahaha
One of the best music videos ever made !
a fav song of mine for 10 years and I used to make false teeth 20 years ago ! ;D
Genius.
Just found this song after forgetting about it for many years, was it in a video game? I coulda sworn it was where I heard first it
The entire album is timeless, such a great concept, which almost didn't happen due to rights issues. Introduce yourself to it if you haven't already done so...
Stabby stabby :P
my friend just texted me a link to this and I didn't know what to expect from it but wow just wow I have no idea how to describe this but damn is it beautiful in every way
I was a young man , my older brother bought this on 12 inch a long time ago. I thank him for my taste in music , And he also made false teeth
I... have no idea what I've just seen but I want to see more of it.
I like how the suggestions feature Gorillaz and Flaming Lips. Good suggestions going on there, guys.
This sounds so tragic, but so comedic with the music video.
This is seriously underrated. Amazing work
