Another awesome video of information, would’ve been nice to hear what kind of fertilizer and how to use it, maybe you can make a short video explaining the different fertilizers and the one you use.
Hey Ross here’s a tip that I’m not sure if you do it or not. When potting a new fig I add compost worms to the soil, at least 10 worms per 10 gallons, its not much compost but it does help, oh I also add compost food for them as well like same pieces of thin cardboard run through the shredder my dirt is super healthy and nice and dark. Just a little something to share with you. I also use rock dust and volcanic rock dust for the mineral content. 1.Azomite 2.Basalt 3.Gaia glacial These are the three rock dusts I use. You can use as much as you want in each pot it’s impossible to burn the roots with these dusts.
Ross: Great setup for taking care of the watering chore which, as you mentioned, could be quite time-consuming especially for a large no. of plants as you have. A couple of questions: what water-soluble fertilizer do you use? In what strength in PPM in the orange bucket? Do you mix the ingredients yourself or get one premixed? Lastly, what are you using for water-soluble micro-nutrients in the fertilizer mix? Thanks for sharing such useful information. You certainly have a beautiful orchard.
It's great to see how simple your approach to watering a large number of trees is. I am installing a drip system now and wondering if you achieve an even distribution of water through the large containers using the one emitter per container?
What’s up Ross can I just got my Grow Heat Matt and I’m using two 24inch wide LED Grow lights for my Fig Clippings that started rooting since the beginning of September. They look like plants 🌱 now but 5 of them have died from Rot. I’m using Black Magic potting soil now and my Question to you is can I feed my cuttings that are now plants or fertilize them and can I keep them going for the winter or should I let them go dormant ??
Your soil sounds like it's not well draining. Potting mixes is not what you want. Instead find a soil conditioner or make your own. I just did a video last weekend on the method I use to root figs. You can fertilize, but you must dilute it quite a bit.
Ross Raddi thanks Ross. I’ll try to look for it! If I can’t find it ? I may need the link to it . Is it the one with just bark or a mix and of compost? Can I use peat moss or mix the bark with my potting soil?

Best way to water! I have a very similar system and it’s makes caring for the trees that much more convenient!
Oh yeahhh.

I got pretty much the same irrigation system with the 1 Outlet Hose Faucet Timer......Works pretty good.
May you please make a video on watering... how much how often?
If you have already made one may you link down it would be much appreciated
What size tubing do you use and where did you purchase your tubing and emitters? Thanks!

Yeah. Mix the potting soil with a lot of perlite, bark, vermiculite or rice hulls my favorite option.
Ross Raddi thank you Brother 💥👍💥🤝
Thanks for the siphon link. I tried a different one and it didn't work at all. I'll give this one a go for disturbing worm tea to my plants.
They can be a pain to get working. Minor adjustments is all.
How fo you protect the potted figs in winter. What do you use if they are left outside in very freezing weather. Thank you
George,
We just did a video last weekend. We will be doing a whole series on the topic all released in the next month.
Yay!!
Great vid! I prefer an irritation system from Hunter, really superb technology but quite expensive...
I'll have to check that out.
