Listen, I'm a 55 yr old Black Woman born & raised in Buffalo, NY. Giving 6 yrs credit to Auburn, Ala. so it's safe to say that R&B is my Sh!t! BUT THIS IS THE COLDEST COUNTRY PERFORMANCE IVE EVER SEEN. I PLAY IT ON REPEAT... REPEATEDLY!!!!❤❤
Tennessee Whiskeys sound is rooted in soul, rhythm and blues that’s why it speaks to you. The last song they sang was soulful too. Our sound is the blueprint 😏.
Chris kills the (thin) boundaries in american music (and races stereotypes too). His "Country" got so much Soul in it, he pulls my tears out with every single note he sings
My late wife, Patricia, and I saw this performance the night it happened and it gave us chills. Chris Stapleton and Morganne are what Elvis was to rock & roll. Before this I would have turned the channel the instant Timberlake came on, but his performance was spectacular. I would never have dreamed he had the soul or ability, but man, what a performance. I can watch this a dozen times a day!!! It does make me miss my gorgeous doll, Patricia.
Chris and Justin absolutely killed this performance we all know this.... but as a musician myself we have to give it up to that band behind them!! The precision , patience and timing is INSANELY perfect.... laying back... grooving out... letting those two singers do there thing and killing it like they did! Cheers!!!
@@amremnant I think he is talking about the vibe of the second song. Yes the song is about drinking, but the vibe and feeling of the music is comparable to church.
She is the angel of the morning. Nobody, but nobody, can harmonize with that sweet redemption like Morganne. She is the silver lining that makes the dark cloud seem beautiful.
@@tihomir7 I mean, that's a two-part discredit. Her backing was the harmony of Chris and Justin's melody. And secondly, that mashup would've never happened without her. She was the one that pushed Chris hard to contact Justin and make a collab happen. Chris has talked about this in an interview. Chris and Justin happened BECAUSE of Morgane.
When Justin takes that moment and says “Sing it Chris” and then leans away from the mic to enjoy the moment, immediate chills. These two men and Morganne made magic happen that night.
@@gaetanhoule706 I was kinda referring to the moment when even Justin, takes the time to appreciate Chris Stapleton’s command of the song. I think the magic comes from all three of them and the entire band/room feeling the moment. I agree that Chris and Morganne have incredible stage presence together and easily could have done just as well without Justin. That being said, I like the fun and high notes Justin throws into this performance.
I love how as they get into the tail end of Drink You Away, you can see Chris looking to Justin for cues. It's easy to forget that when this happened, Chris was still relatively new to the big stages and JT absolutely was coaching him along through his song. It's an amazing collaboration.
I’m not a big fan of Justine Timberlake but I give credit where it’s due. And I have to admit I would have LOVED to be at this concert. They really did the thing!
This has got to be one of the best performances I’ve ever heard, and I wasn’t even there to see it live, I couldn’t even imagine being there! Literally otherworldly performance!
God bless my UA-cam algorithm: I’m a blues and soul man, was never into Justin or Country as a whole; this changed a few things. Just paid a visit to New Orleans, Memphis and Nashville with my lady, had a great night at Justin’s place in Nashville, The Twelve Thirty Club and got ourselves immersed in some great Country music up and down Broadway. Soooo goood
This is probably my I don’t know 75th time to watch this and it just keeps getting better. When are they going to let these two go play at the Super Bowl? Now that would be a show
Chris can lay down a track in the studio and it's good. But you watch Chris live and he will rock the foundation of your soul he is SO much better IRL! Justin is the same. Hell last down a track but you don't get the runs and vocal acrobatics he's capable of until his live shows. These two, live together, are legendary!!!
This has replaced my coffee in the morning. Crank this on a Bluetooth speaker to max and just watch how you feel pumped after. You can thank me later. Try it ya’ll!
NOW THAT'S MUSIC TO MAKE HISTORY! I love Keith Urban being so excited for them.... when he can out play them both on guitar and match voice for voice! He's so humble.
If this performance doesn’t make you happy then you OBVIOUSLY DO NOT HAVE A SOUL. The second song, just puts you in a groove & I dare you not to move your head to the beat, close your eyes and/or EVEN make the “stank” face!❤
Every person in that joint was watching the music world change for the better, and didn’t even know it. Bro country started to die that night, and thank god it did.

So sorry for your loss. God bless you. I am a singer sometimes to an old bar and sing. Sometimes people clap and sometimes they cry.
Love and light.
Justin has sooo much soul. Hes incredible.
My condolences. What a nice memory to have.
So sorry. Glad you found a little comfort from this.

You know you're killing it when Keith Urban starts taping your performance on his phone!
Keith Urban is overstated , i just don't get it, we are born and raised 5km apart
So true!
That's what I was thinking!

Right?!?
Chris Stapleton really has a once in a generation type of voice.
Don't overlook Jamey

I need JT to do more of this
Been saying this for a while too, he should have a blues album with Chris
Morganne deserves more credit for her part in this.
