Ayo this is awesome! Seeing your name up with the others: Klischee, Caravan Palace, etc. I love your music and it’s great to hear yours next to some of my favorite songs
YES! I WAS JUST LISTENING TO THIS ON SOUNDCLOUD! So cool to hear this without the speaking audio covering some stuff, especially the transition from Prohibition Swing to Shoot Him Down. Compared to your other mixes, this one really stands out, for almost every single song is literally mixed together. You're a master mixer, man! 1. You mixed in key. 2. You stayed within tempo range for transitions. 3. You made most of the transitions different. 4. You picked the right samplers. 5. You picked the right songs (obviously). Bonus: You didn't have to change the key of any song! Obviously, it's okay if you do, but... if you mix in key, there's no need for that ;) Here are some transitions that stood out to me: 1. Victor - Twitch: Introducing Twitch a semitone step higher to blend was so genius, and then changing the key was so well done that I didn't even notice at first! I believe you shifted from 10A to 3A... is that correct? 2. Higher Love - Grandpa's Groove: There was something so fluent about this... it just feels like butter. 3. Showtime - Baska Brother: Best ever. Nuff said. Bonus: The transitions into Jimmy's Gang and Higher Love... those are really cool because it can be hard to abruptly change songs like that. For future's sake, here are a few minor critiques: 1. Try adding in songs that have slower tempos (90-110 BPM). This is a huge factor for the sake of variety and making sure that the upbeat feeling doesn't get repetitive. "But Evan, that's hard." Well, that's DJing for ya! Takes lots of practice, as you know. 2. I know you don't have your DJ gear on you, but do try to at least do some looping and apply some more interesting FXs like you did at the end of Russian (gotta love reverb!). 3. Perhaps Chappie's Tune couldn't mix in well with Grandpa's Groove, but... harmonizing keys, similar tempos? I would've used that to my advantage for sure! Same goes for finishing it off with Beatophone, although that intro to the song was a nice touch. Bonus: Add an intro and outro; I know you're great at producing them in your songs, so why not add them to a mix? Overall, this is one of my favorite mixes to listen to, and I found some new songs to add to my playlists. I really look forward to more mixes like these. I know you're already busy and DJing can be really time-consuming, but don't lie; it's so much fun, and it really stretches your creativity. Cheers, mate!
Ayeee cheers mate for the epic comment. I do have a blast making these mixes even though they might take a while. Love your critiques as well. As you know I do all this in ableton so changing up and down the tempo should be super easy and I'll remember for next time, I should aim for a swing hop mix at some point since I've made so many of those kind of tunes haha. Also for this one I dragged all my songs into "Traktor" to analyse all the audio for what keys and BPM each song is in and then that mostly dictated what sort of direction the mix should head in and what works well together so then I could drag it back into ableton to move around and edit. And figuring out those keys early on is what hopefully makes everything blend so nicely, fingers crossed lol. If I ever get more gear I'll do a mix live and video it to put up on the channel!
@@OddChap I would pay to see this video of you mixing. That's your old school stuff anyways, right? VirtualDJ? I prefer rekordbox but either way... it would be epic to SEE you do it.

... I just realized that you didn't shift the key of "Twitch"; I have no clue why I thought so lol
Ah, now I see... the entire track is out of tune, so you tuned the intro to match the key of the previous track.
