Cat and Mouse, published in Hughes’ collection Lupercal in 1960, depicts a mouse hopes to make a break for freedom but doesn’t, for fear of being eaten by a cat. In the poem, Hughes uses words and images to strikingly portray the mouse by the lively description of the mouse, personifying the movement of the mouse and exploring the similarities between human and animals, and finally, exploring religious figures.
Hello! Thanks for commenting. I think your points are great. However, you may want to explore the personification of the mouse in one of the body paragraphs as this is a technique that is used. You would still have three strong body paragraphs and you are lesson likely to repeat analysis. Hope this helps 🌺 K
No set structure. My only suggestion would be to organise your points chronologically (e.g. how is the moon presented in Harvest Moon? Think how is it presented at the start, in the middle, at the end - this will allow you to focus evenly on all parts of the poem!) Best of luck 🌺 K
