I wonder if there was any incentive for Richard T Jones to say that line? But I agree with both sides. It's hard for other races to understand the nuances of someone else's culture if you aren't a member of that culture. Just taking a kid to a black church doesn't fully integrate him or her to black culture which could have long term effects down the line but also taking him or her away from the family he or she has known can be detrimental immediately. That's a tough decision
The sad part is none of the racists in this episode are white. Bruce basically said give baby to Grandma because they're both black and too bad if he would've been taken better care of with the other lady. It was just race as his qualification.
