    It is a great feeling have a freezer full of meat, you'll need another freezer when you harvest your 2 pigs. Good Video!

    I really don't think I could process my own food that way but I really admire those that do.
    Congrats on raising and freezing your first batch!!

      Thanks Annie. I would hope everyone feels a little something for the animal.

      @@HiddenCreekHomestead 🤣 It is. We recently slaughtered our own meat birds as well. We've been doing it for a while so we have our own little system.

      I saw the coop, the posts for the lean to and the garden fence and the house paint.. But, i didnt see the rest of the lean to build, the meat bird coop build, or the rest of the garden get put in.

    Great job.....y'all are very wise waiting to get all the necessary equipment to do the job from beginning to end. Having this gentleman and his wife come and show you exactly how to do it is the best. Since you still have other things you need to purchase to complete your homestead, having his help, expertise and equipment usage makes sense. In the meantime you can watch for equipment coming on the market to purchase used. Like a giant stock pot on a propane stand (like a turkey fryer with a larger pot). Have a Blessed Memorial Day.

    good stuff...not sure I could do it myself...i think I could start but would end up naming all the animals and eventually becoming a sanctuary...lol esp those pigs...too cute :)

      Yep, our ducks, egg layers and goats have names - the pigs and poultry chickens don’t for that reason lol.

    Great video, plenty of detail without it being grizzly. Tell your wife that she has a new member for her "club" as I have just been diagnosed with the dreaded C but mine is a lot lower down. Between us all we WILL beat this darn thing. Thanks for posting

    I would at least raise a few cornish cross.. taste is the difference.. most also raise 30 to 50 birds at a time 3x over a 6 month period.. you should invest in getting 2 more freezers.. slowly invest in gathering all the items you need to process.. it will safe you $ over time

    • @HiddenCreekHomestead
      @HiddenCreekHomestead  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah especially with 2 hogs on horizon… need a lot of space. Then we haven’t even talked about beef yet

  • @tonycrossbee
    @tonycrossbee 3 роки тому

    How did it taste?

    • @HiddenCreekHomestead
      @HiddenCreekHomestead  2 роки тому

      Better than store bought. Slightly firmer. We did a second batch or cornish cross that was better on all.
