    So beautiful! In my country. The melon grows and bears fruit on the ground and not in the pot because when it matures it comes off the plant. I loved your video!

    But I really like the most is that you recycled the paper tissue rolls❤️.
    Now I won't throw them away☺️

      Don't use the paper tissue rolls. Ink and glue are chemicals. The soil is mixed with chemicals.
      휴지심을 쓰지 마세요. 잉크는 화학물질입니다. 또한 휴지심에는 접착제 본드 성분도 있습니다.
      그런 화학물질에 흙에 섞입니다. 물론 식물이 죽지는 않지만, 우리나라 토양에 어떤 화학물질도 섞이지 않길 원합니다.

    Ah I see. Male flowers are on stem and female flowers on leaf branch. Is that right? So much to learn new things! 😄

    • @ajlifesolutions7072
      @ajlifesolutions7072 3 роки тому +4

      All flowers have “male” pollen and “female” stamen. You just need to cross pollinate the pollen from one flower to another...use a small paint brush to manually mix and transfer. Each flower will give fruit...this is nature.

  • @jakeo1209
    @jakeo1209 4 роки тому +32

    It was a very nice video. I actually like it when they show something growing from the very beginning to actual fruit. But it would be even more helpful if we had a little bit more information.
    This summer I grew these type of mellons. No experience so some things didn't work out too well and some did. The leaves on my plants started to turn white, as if dusted by white powder, and soon after they began to wilt. I ended up with dozens of very small mellons, but I picked up two good sized ones. They looked just like those in the video. One of them fell and broke and though on the outside it looks perfect on the inside it was not even close to being ready. I had to throw it away.
    When is the time to pick them up? How do I know it's ready? If I pick it up early, will it ripen on its own? How long does it take to ripen after it's picked up?
    I noticed that this person in the video was snipping flowers. Why those particular flowers?
    Why polinate the female flowers by hand if those female flowers already have a fruit growing?
    What is the best number of mellons to grow on one vine? I saw this person snipping baby mellons. How many should be left?
    How tall should I let this plant grow?
    Why the leaves on the plant in the video had brown spots on them? Is that normal?
    How many days from planting to picking?
    More detail, please.

    • @gcc2313

      This is what I know about curcubits( melons,cucumbers, and pumpkins)
      The little fruit on female curcubits are just the base/beginning of which the fruit will grow. But the plant will only grow it once it’s been properly pollinated. Otherwise it’ll die off. As the end result of the plant is obviously reproduce by seed in the fruit.
      You can let the plant grow as large as you want the larger it is the more and bigger it can produce. However it will need a good root system to go with it. In my experience planting it in the ground is better for this as most curcubits are very big plants.
      The number fruits on the vines depend again on the size of the plant and also the size of the fruit. The bigger the fruit the less you leave on the vine and the smaller the more. I think people leave between 1/3 per vine but again it’s very variable.
      From seed to fruit can take between 70/150 days depending on the variety of fruit grown.
      Growing melons specifically is really a learning curve.
      I think he snipped of male flowers because the plants tend to produce a lot and he probable had enough or there weren’t any female flowers to pollinate. So it’s wasted energy for the plant.
      Ripening also depends on the variety so it’s also a learning curve people have different tips that you can search online or on yt.
      Often the older leaves die as the vine grows and starts focusing on the fruit so this should be quite normal.

    • @slchang01
      @slchang01 4 роки тому +9

      The white powdery stuff on the leaves, as the name implies, is called powdery white mildew fungus disease. It is very common in the hot and humid area, which can be treated with some home made solution/emulsion. Search the Internet, and you will find many videos showing you how to...
      For container growers, one fruit per vine is probably the best. For in ground vine, no more than two per vine, if you want big, juicy fruits. When ripening, the fruits will change color and giving out musky smell. There are other types of insect problems to the cucurbit plants, such as vine borers that will attach the vine from inside out in the summer. So start the seeds early, and harvest the fruits in June/July, and be done with it.
