      sweet George doesnt get the credit for all the great guitar work he is the sound of the Beatles so many songs he brilliantly wrote and the more you break it down as in this cool vid the more is clear to see how good he really was, he may well be the most influential of all the Beatles. By far the best guitarist by a mile without him there is no Beatles as we know them this vid is great example , thanks for breaking it down for us very good video I always come back to revisit it, well done

      @@crapple009well im glad that i finally found someone who realises the reality of the popularity of beatles songs. what most other people say about literally any beatles song is that “its a beatles song, it’s extremely well known and popular”. utter bullshit. most people you ask would have only heard hey jude and yellow submarine. very few people you ask would have heard this song, and its just a fact. but of course most people who see this comment would deny it just because “ITS A BEATLES SONG”. just a quick side note, obviously the song is very highly rated, but it is still subjective whether somethings underrated so please just respect their opinion. usually id say this in a much harsher way, but at least youre not an asshole about it, unlike most other people, who would be like “YOUR OPINION IS WRONG NO BEATLES SONG IS UNDERRATED JUST BECAUSE YOUVE NEVER HEARD IT THAT DOESNT MAKE IT UNDERRATED”

    • @HeelBJC
      @HeelBJC 3 роки тому +6

      Despite being someone who covers Beatles music in a similarly perfectionist way to this channel in terms of replicating exactly what the record sounds like, I really can't disagree more with this. While picture perfect covers that replicate everything exactly as they are on record are awesome and I appreciate the work that goes into something like this, the notion that they're the only worthwhile cover type is absolutely insane to me. Don't gatekeep so much. This level of dedication is extremely niche and anyone who enjoys the greatest band of all time's music enough to want to reproduce it in *any* capacity should do so regardless of how much they want to dedicate to replication. And that doesn't make those covers any less legitimate.

    • @johncbeer
      @johncbeer 3 роки тому +5

      @@HeelBJC I sort of agree. I should clarify what I meant. There are three types of covers I've witnessed. The first is like this video; an outstanding effort staying true to the original. The second being someone's truly unique interpretation, such as the version of "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" from Across the Universe. The third is the one I hate. It's when an artist does a half ass cover that is neither authentic, nor original. It's just lazy, and I always hear them try to pass it off as artistic.

      @johncbeer same thing goes for bands live who do the songs they wrote 20+ years ago and they do things different but it's the same, like just play it as we know it and by the record, we know you've play the same song(s) a thousand times and you wanna change it up but... don't. I agree with you. Do it for real or don't at all.

    Honestly, what's always been so cool about this song to me is how it's one of the first guitar songs in recorded history along with Moby Dick and Kashmir by Led Zeppelin that's in drop D tuning. This song, being from 1968, is in the same tuning that 22 years later in the 1990s, would be used in Outshined, Jesus Christ Pose, by Soundgarden, and Sober by Tool. When John was writing this song in Rishikesh and he tuned his low E string on his guitar down to D, he had no idea that at somepoint in the future, men named Chris Cornell, Kim Thayil and Adam Jones would be using his very same tuning in their songs. I always feel like this song is the father to those songs.

    How late can you be to a party?! 😊 Anyway.. Prudence was on todays Beadle guessing game, and it reminded me of the extraordinary nature of this song. And I've been enjoying Mikes breakdowns and re-assemblies of many a Beatles song. So I thought I'd send him something asking for a breakdown of Prudence. Luckily I did my searches first..
    Thank you for this, Mike! It'll ruin my day since the planned basement renovation will now be postponed.
    Time to trim the nails on the right hand (yup, a "southpaw"), bew a big pot of coffe, mute the phone, get paper and pencil, tune up and try this!
    I laughed out loud when the base actualky was left-handed in the other video of this, and when the helping hand came in to pull the towel over the snare. Ten minutes that made this a good day whatever happens next!

    When descending down the bass notes during the verse, you can clearly hear the A note on the G string the first 2 chords, the open G on the next 2. It is very difficult to play a D chord while holding down a C note on the A string, however, that is the correct way to play it. Listen to the Esher version, even John struggles with this, so dont feel bad. I have been practicing this for several days now and am getting better at it slowly but surely

      If you want to get as close to the Beatles late sound ('Revolver' thru 'Let it Be') you're going to want to purchase either an "Epihone Elitist 1965 casino" or the "Inspired by John Lennon" Epiphone Casino, these are both reissues and are basically identical to the quality and build of the Casinos that were being built by Epiphone in the 60s, which keep in mind was a totally different company that had high standards of quality compared to today. Both are equipped with Gibson USA P-90 pick ups, which is what creates that distinctive bell-like sound you'll typically hear in some of their lead guitar work. It also is what gives that distinctive growl sound you hear in songs such as "Come Together"; "Yer Blues', and basically any rhythm coming from John. Stay away from the Casino coups and standard Epiphone casinos. They use cheaper Epiphone p90 pickups and are also built cheaper. The main point, if you're going to get a Casino, its one of those guitars where you better off paying the higher price for the high end model. The two reissue models I mentioned are legit casinos as good as what the Beatles played, the latter are just simply imitations. PM me if you have anymore questions.

    An early one of yours, not as accurate as your later ones. Firstly, I'm sure John is playing an acoustic and George doesn't double the whole part, merely playing the second and first strings, the D to F# etc part; secondly, the second chord in the verse keeps the D position for the A string C, as the A (second string) note is present; thirdly, the first lead break begins at the 10th fret (Dm pentatonic) and a second guitar does the A- D -low D - D part - good effort to combine them but it just doesn't sound bluesy enough; fourthly, the third verse repeating 2 bar lead lick doesn't end on the F#, it slides the A string F# down, ending on the open D string (on the "and'); fifthly, the last ascending lick in the last verse begins on E. Yes I know I need to get a life and should do my own video but first I need to get my hands on an SG. Cheers.
