Using the open breath of the concertina as a percussion instrument during the breakdown thing was genius
haha, absolutely! i just found this music and was completely stunned - ready for a little story?
i´m a musician myself and in the early 80s i borrowed a big accordion - as i couldn´t play it, i just practised some staccato sounds and recorded them - somehow i kept this strange little recording and always thought i might do something with it - two years ago i did! i praise the digital world to enable us to do such wonderous things, haha - well, i just sent my staccato song to a friend, and now i am here and - - - in awe!
i love youtube for providing us with so much beautiful music from all over the world and from all times... :-)

love and greetings from germany
Check out a song called 'Far from Portland', by Lau the accordion player loops a similar sound but adds in a couple of thumps and stuff to create a percussive loop for the tune ua-cam.com/video/8HhgbPF5fhg/v-deo.html
@@eimead way cool, i love this way of making music: loop station combined with live played instruments... :-)
thank you for that one - one of my big faves in that direction is binkbeats, a very skilled loop station artist:

The only breakdowns I perform are mental.
@@scp5358 well, that´s a point - i learned that good breathing can help - i reckon you are not a great artist who gives big concerts, but rather a small artist who gives small concertinas - so if you use open breath on a concertina it might help, no?
Please buy the album, the Concertina player needs a decent pair of trousers.
I love that it's the pants that make the lasting impression!
I was just goona suggest we start a crowd-funder for Mohsen's new wardrobe. It wouldn't last, though, he just wears them out.
@@blainepauls Yeah it's no use. The jumping leg creates so much friction at the knee that it just burns right through the material!
@@AnanasX3 The man's a walking fire hazard, I tell you. Or sitting fire hazard, I suppose.
What the fuck are you talking about, there's kids in Africa that could eat that concinrtear!
There's a fair bit of sad when one finds an awesome band for the first time and the song is entitled 'Farewell' and contains what seems to be a retrospective of years of musical relationships... followed by joy when reading and surmising that it's "Just a track on their second album, and they're not going away anytime soon." and you have wonderful things to look forward to in future. :) Thank you all... that was lovely.
Christian Cepel oh we aren’t stopping anytime soon!!
@@TaliskMusic I was all set to travel from Tampa to Nashville to hear you play, but then ...
Phantom Memer next time hopefully 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
haha exactly what happened to me
Holy smokes, I thought the exact same thing! Thankful it’s just a tune title. Whew!
I'm Japanese. I love Talisk and this song. I've been listening to "Farewell" non stop.
I was born in Japan, but I feel like "this music is my native place's song!"
Maybe, I was born in Ireland or Scotland in the previous life. So I feel nostalgic when I listen to this song.
Sorry, I can't express my emotion well. It is so difficult and complicated.
But whatever it takes, I want to tell my love.
I love "farewell" so much!
Hopefully we see you next time we come to Japan!
yes..its very cool tunes eh!
I felt the same way when I heard this tune! I'm Chinese and Hawaiian but their music doesn't stir up my soul as much as these tunes! There is music from Ireland, Scotland and Wales that make me feel nostalgic, too! Maybe the both of us were both either Scottish, Irish, or Welsh in another lifetime and that's why this music seems so familiar!
@@sunlion0823 I so believe this - in my core. Now doing genealogy, this all pans out. No matter, enjoy whatever music you love, and wherever it takes you to in time and space. That is the magic of music.
@@sunlion0823 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
Try sitting still to this...just fabulous!!! Aff yer seats folks...it's toe-tappin' time...thanx so much. Loved it!!!
This song fills me with a comfortable bittersweet sense of longing.
☺️🙏🏻
I’m new to Talisk, but have fallen completely in love with their music. This is a beautiful piece. I’m a mixture of Irish, Swiss and English but brought up in Scotland. I consider myself Celtic. I feel extremely nostalgic hearing this. Talisk, your music means so much to me. Thank you 🙏🏼
Swiss and English are definitely celts.
me too, but i've grown up in switzerland and goddamn I wanna move to scotland so badly, I've been in love with the culture for so long and I can't wait to experience everything
Awesome!
Music is keeping us alive in these dark days.
This is the fifth time today. Thank you.
Saw them in the Club Tent earlier in the day and the place was packed and pumping. You could not believe so much visceral human joy could be concentrated in one place .
Paul Robinson that was some gig!!!
Beautiful. Uplifting. Please, please, bring more of this into existence. This world needs it. ✌️
Imagine if everyone danced when they went out like they used to-to this type of music. It would be revolutionary.
Outstanding.. credit to Scotland..alba gu bràth
Oh Gosh, the Violin and Concertina sounds make a perfect match, its so pleasurable to listening that
This song gives me hope that things can and will get better.
Adrenaline the SkyWing I’m from the future and I’m here to say your hopes were slightly misguided. With that said, your comment is now more appropriate than ever.
@@gxtmfa I wouldn't say they were misguided at all - at the time I made this comment I was deep in depression, but through the past 7 months I have climbed to a better place. Never criticize anyone for having hope, it's a precious thing. :)
@@trinmiller292 Perfectly stated with the sure knowledge of strength reborn; keep climbing upward until you are flying!
This music is very close to my heart.
I heard it on the island while fishing on the banks of the Paraná River in Rosario, Argentina.
The first thing I came across was a Chamamé (which is a music of the area, in which the Polka is mixed with Central European music).
But then I noticed that it was faster and took me back to my Celtic roots in the north of Spain (my grandparents from Aragon, in the border with the Pyrenees).
But I see it more on the side of Ireland or Scotland .
It is beautiful this music !!!
Thank you very much !!!
It made me want to take a good whiskey .
The Dude on the Concertina is amazing!! I never knew......Just wow!
Thank You Talisk for bringing these beautiful songs of Scotland heritage to the Rainforest World Music Festival. I was one of the volunteers during the soundcheck and it is a true honor to have met you all in person. Warmest regards from Kuching, Sarawak Borneo.
This song ended up on a collaborative playlist, and every time I hear it I think of Chrono Trigger. It sounds so much like the composer it's crazy, and I end up feeling this profound sense of wonder and nostalgic peace from it.
Can't get enough of it.
I love the conversation your instruments are having with each other. Your work is amazing and I'm glad to hear it.
Okay, I just heard this band for the first time. Talisk takes me to my happy place.
Beautiful people, irresistible Celtic groove, warm smiles. What more do you kneed?
La la laaaaa la la laaaa la la laaaa…I’ve discovered my hidden talent for vocals….thank you
I’m not sure why anyone would give a thumbs down to this. It is beautiful. All musicians are very talented. The video is fun to watch.
People give thumbs down because they are so pitifully negative in their own world, they want everyone else to share. Trolls are to be pitied as their doling out random thumbs down makes them feel validated. Very sad they miss sharing the joy and fun of this video.
They may be people but the devil is close to them.
The violin and concertina make such a beautiful Irish sound together.
Its a bad thing that they are Scottish then
Scottish* the accordion is more Irish than the concertina
Just let the man enjoy his music. Also, all 3 of you are wrong, the anglo-concertina and accordion are both German in origin, designed by men with the middle name Friedrich. The reason it's known as an Irish instrument is because it's used the most in Irish songs and Gaelic songs, which consisted of present-day Scotland and Ireland.
@@gh0stwithpants it’s mostly used in Scottish Gaelic songs. And Scottish songs. The accordion is mainly used for Irish songs. It’s inventor is of no concern since it’s not as often used in German songs. I never claimed the concertina to be of any origin. I said it’s more of a Scottish instrument
@@cadenbrown7407 the scots were using the accordian long before the irish.
Thx A higland song for send me here 🙌
Me, too🎉
Awesome! “ The future of British folk is in safe hands”. Indeed.
Inna litvak and Scottish 🤷🏻♀️🙋🏼♀️
Talisk Music absolutely 😊
Guys. Every song you release is simply perfect.
I just love what you guys can do with only 3 instruments.
Congrats, another incredible song. Love from south coast of Brasil.
You mean three instruments apart from the kick and the bass? Not hating or anything, love their sound, but the electronic stuff really adds that extra dimension to it.
UA-cam: Here's a Talisk video you've watched 9,000 times.
Me: Make it 9,001.
It's over 9000!
(Dumb joke, but I had to make it)
@@Ssure2 I don't blame you. I would have done the same thing. haha
I currently have it on repeat while studying - its perfect! Not so boring and repetitive that it doesn't help but enough in the background that it doesn't distract me. 10/10 fully reccomend.
What a sound they have, but Mohsen's barely heard rapid runs are outstanding. What a player he is, but God does he need a new pair of pants! Genius. Well geniuses. Best wishes William at Irish Ways Radio Programme Florida.
Thank you Talisk. ❤️🎼💜🏴
I wish I were as good at anything as this man is at playing a concertina.
Just subscribed to your channel as a way of showing my support. You got this🎉
I've never heard anything like this. As a musician, I always try to broaden my horizons, and you've done just that. Thank you.
I can recommend Lau
You have been wonderful in Montelago
So you guys at Cambridge folk festival. Honestly the best group to play there and created the best atmosphere by far
They were fucking awesome at Cambridge
walkingpictures yes they were!
When I saw this the first time, some months ago, I actually thought this was some kind of Corona--induced recording, keeping literally many miles of distance between all groups and singers. In fact, it´s exactly 2 years old now but I still find comfort in seeing so many guys making music together without distance being any kind of obstacle. And I love this vid featuring the great Breabach and East Pointers!
I already loved celtic/Irish music but I really fell in love with your music ❤️
All three of these musicians are fabulous. The button accordion player is a genius. This is wonderful. Thank you for posting!
I watch this and I listen and I can't quite believe the pace of it all, but I absolutely love it. Gives my brain plenty to chew on.
You just never know where you're going to find good acoustics.
Seen Talisk live in 2022 & last month!! Both times when they performed this song, the whole audience stood up & sang just like the musicians did in this video! It was heartwarming!!
Can't get enough of this song, and echo :D
Merveilleux spectacle ce soir à Ripon. MERCI
I just found this song, and it's one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard. It's so simple on the surface, but there's so much heart and feeling in it that it makes me tear up, in a good way. It sounds like a goodbye, but a happy one, saying goodbye to a good friend after a good visit, knowing you'll see them again soon. I love it so much.
Listening again again bought the album but love watching you all!
With songs this fresh you will definitely be saying hello much more than farewell. 😍
Every musician in this band is brilliant ... Beautiful music that is also, even in a song with a slightly melancholy tone like this "farewell", has a sense of the playful and asks one to dance ....
Музыка не делится на хорошую или плохую. Есть два состояния, идут мурашки и нет. От вас идут. Спасибо! =)
This is lovely featuring all my favourites from Speyfest over the years
Each player is distinct, yet so harmonious with each other. They play like it's a conversation between good friends, it's incredible to hear!
First time listener and I just want to say that y'all are phenomenal.
Love and light
I’ll never be as good on my guitar as that dude is on his button box…which makes me sad. However, it makes me happy to watch/listen to this ensemble, which restores the balance - thank you 😀
They are Amazing!
I dont know how this band got into my suggestions but I'm SO GLAD that it did.
OMG, I've got a goosepums when the violin started to play. Amazing. I am in heaven. Thanks s lot! Greetings from Ukraine!
Incredible! Love your energy & musicianship
Absolutely love this song! Makes me happy and sad all at the same time. Brilliant!
I saw you guys live last year at sidmouth folk festival and finally found out who this track was by. My dad has been playing this to us for as long as I can remember , it’s a big part of my childhood. Thank you for everything you do, your music is incredible .
I love this, this is beautiful (la la la, la la la la, la la la)
This... this speaks to me. WOW!
Since today Morning i was searching for IRIS traditional Music. It's always upbeat and makes my feet move. In evening found Talisk. Want more from you guys. Love from India.
fantastic play love Talisk !
Seen them in Stornoway HebDest '19. What a memory ! Thank you folks !
Driving home from work on Friday out of San Francisco and listening to this great tune , quality piece of music , love the video with all the great musicians, keep her lit
I’ve been listening to Farewell for the last couple of months since I first heard it on the radio. Amazing song!
We saw them for the first time last year for my birthday! We're seeing them again in a month!! I was so taken a back I bought a concertina and have been learning to play. Can't wait
I wonder how much time it takes to calm down the spring knees of the concertine player after an exhibition of Talisk is finished, and by the way I love each of them equally. Their strenght is in their blend.
Wow, Celtic music with an amazing groove! Great fun, right in the pocket
Brilliant! As usual! (Note the use of the bass splitter, in case any of you are wondering.) Great lineup of backing singers.
Holy cow you are all fantastic!! I just found you from a suggested video. The video and sound quality is so high and really let's the listener appreciate the mastery each of you have on your instrument. Best from the USA and looking forward to more! Luke
Cousin Harry Robertson (Lord Rockingham from the 50s) would have loved this .. also noted the little rhythm break using the bellows as percussion with joy .. what a cool idea. Love the rhythm legs too. ❤️❤️❤️ Brilliant. Thank you !
enchanting .....Beautifully played ...well done all .
Love Love .
You three make me all smiley!!
You all have to come to the Irish Fair of Minnesota next year!! It's an amazing time and we had We banjo 3 and Skerryvore and the Friel Sisters this time around! Need to see you next time!
Uffffff!! What a piece of song !! The melody is wonderful played with that energy makes one fly very high! Talisk is a tremendous trio that does us all good!
This band keeps blowing my mind you are so good I always love irish folk music ❤️😘
This song fills my eyes with tears....thanks
Please come back to Montelago Celtic Festival it was spectacular!!!
Scasco326 We would love to! What a festival that was!!
I had a feeling that I'd love this even before I heard it. I did not disappoint myself.
Another musical gem I am grateful to have found. Celtic splendor! Bless you guys!
Thanks I am mesmerized and grateful for your talent and ability to share it around the world. I am in Minnesota. Isolated but connected through music.

Sounds a Collective Soul song. I love it. 🌹
Lovely bass sound, very complimentary to the music. Would have like to see him/her featured in the video too. Nice job guys
It comes from an Octave pedal on the guitar :)
You guys deserve way more likes and views. You guys are awesome and I just started watching you guys today
I just found them by accident and love the music so much. Xxx
Amazing song full of longing. Really beautiful a kind of a clever mixture of new modern sounding pop music and traditional folk music with a catchy tune.
New group to me. Wow! This really brought me UP! Fabulous…..
This has to be my absolute favorite song of yours. It's the first one I ever listened to by you guys and I listen to it when I feel lonely or sad and it cheers me right up! I do hope I get to hear you all in person some day!💗
Thanks Mia!!
That video montage was honestly beautifull. I am happy to take part in this small and heartwarming community!
They are so brilliant live on stage! Amazing. Love the albums too
I'm so happy to have discovered this band while looking for Scottish folk music! This tune and the video accompanying it really hit my soul! Like others have mentioned, this tune makes me feel both happy & sad! I love the way all those folks are adding their voices & having a great time doing it!! Wish I could have been there! You 3 are fantastic!!
I didn’t want this song to ever end.
Found y'all during good ol' C19. Thanks for the fantastic music, it's been keeping me happy the last few months. :)
Beautiful.
” Detrás de todo gran hombre , hay una gran mujer " .gracias por toda su hermosa música . Los abrazo con amor paz y unidad
Just to watch them play is my heart 🤌✨🌙it’s like looking at the moon
You three are shining
Lovely! thanks, Talisk. Regards from Brazil.
This group is absolutely fantastic! Love this song and their style. Mohsen Amini in minute 2 is a Genius God Level. I desire a long career for theirs. Amazing!!
