I have the 1974 Dinky toys catalogue. I had the Pink Panther car, UFO toys and Jensen as a child in 1974. I was 9 years old. Brings back fond memories.
Had the Spectrum Patrol Car. Bought it on vacation with my parents in Ithaca New York. My father was a teacher and had to attend a course at Ithaca college to further his degree. Got to stay at the dorm on campus in my own room and visit the town with my mom while he was in class. And visit places at night like 3 Boxcars put together where they showed silent movies and served snacks and drinks. Then visited Niagara Falls on the way back home. Great times.
Oh wow grew up with Dinky toys I was 6 in 1974 and remember Patrick’s of Fulham had the full range one Easter I get the thunderbird 2 and shado mobile ,never understood why Dinky painted the thunderbird 2 metallic blue later on
Had a few of these but i especially remember the meccano army multikit because there was one piece missing lol. Nobody here who remembers these catalogues didnt look through them and go "right, i want that, that, that aaand that and that.....that, that and that too"
OMG! I’ve got a Dinky and a Corgi catalogue from around 1977, it never occurred to me someone would post them on UA-cam like this, so glad you did though, without doubt one my of my all time fav toys. As a kid I would sometimes cut out the cars from mums big catalogue , from the toy section, and paste them into my own scrap book, a kinda wish list I guess. Thanks for posting.
I can honestly say that the Merryweather was the best toy I ever owned- loved the locker for the hose and the working pump - hours and hours of fun:-))
I was reminded that I had this catalogue as soon as the video began. I also owned a fair-few of the vehicles on display, but I always wanted 917 Mercedes Benz Truck and Trailer but it was never available in my local toy-shop where I used to spend several hours of my week with that look of wanton desire on my face and fingers at the ready to do a quick calculation of how long it would be until Christmas. I was far too young to consider the idea of pre-ordering products, a)because I couldn't guarantee that my budget would cover the cost, and b) because I wanted everything now. I used to think that the boy who lived in that toy-shop must have been the luckiest boy alive. If the woman behind the counter was the owner of the shop and she had a son of about my age, then he had to be the luckiest boy alive... As a grown-up now, I would happily purchase every single item in that catalogue if I were given the chance. Sadly, the original company no longer exists and I don't care much for buying collectors items. (and my budget wouldn't allow it neither).
I have similar memories , there were more local toyshops I always remember a kid around my age in 70s he brought in his startrek communicator yes the original series toy god I wanted one those turned out they never worked lol. Again local were I lived shop full airfix models & all classic. Plus dinky & corgi. Happy days thanks for your comments ✌️😜
Check out Ebay- you might be lucky. I've discovered a whole new hobby restoring these wonderful toys and if you ever fancy giving it a go, check out Martin Dares restorations.
When the Binns Road factory in Liverpool closed down in the early 1980s, the administrators wanted the quickest possible sale of the assets. Consequently all the die cast metal component moulds for these toys were last seen at Liverpool docks being loaded as ship's ballast, to be dumped at sea to offset the intake of sea water. Apparently the plastic component moulds were sold to a plastics company who used them to make replacement parts for the collector market.
Nice.. I still have one of those MK1 Capris in very good condition. It is In metallic green, I once owned a real one in that colour. I also have one of the red and white Land Rover recovery truck in mint condition. (No, I won't sell it)
love the artwork, so many models I have not seen before, thanks I enjoyed this - I will have to put up some of my old ones, I have some Corgi and Dinky catalogues from the 70s
I'd see them years later. Chipped paint, tire-less, string round the chassis, missing doors and cracked wind screens. RTA's and write offs in jumble sales..Gringy Toys.
As a youngster Matchbox, Dinky and Corgi were my obsession. I would spend hours looking through their catalogues. Magical.
I've had more of these in my 50s than I ever had as a kid! The joy of Ebay and having hobby time to restore them. Long live Dinky 👏👏👏👏

Who else sat there saying "had that, had that, wanted that ..." nice to see, brought back lots of happy memories from simpler times.
I remember having a few of these. The Thunderbird ship and the Cadillac ambulance were my favorites. Wish I still had them.
Still have some of these toys. Some in boxes too! Remember this catalogue like it was yesterday..! Lol
Forgotten how good this company was.
