Gambler's Fallacy is a the (incorrect) belief that a string of probability-based events will affect the next. As an example, in the event of flipping a coin, you flip two heads in a row, and say "Okay, two heads in a row, that means tails is next." Each coin flip is a 50/50 and the previous flip has no impact on the next. The law of averages means that given enough coin flips, you should see an even distribution of heads and tails, but each individual event is an entirely separate event with it's own probability.
That said, Gambler's Fallacy as applied to Honkai SR's gatcha gets difficult specifically because of the 'pity' and 'guarantee' systems. Given enough pulls, you WILL get your desired outcome, but in the base probability tables, there is no 'coming due', etc (tinfoil hat comes out...) unless that's what Hoyo WANTS you to think....
From Wikipedia: In statistics, regression toward the mean is the phenomenon where if one sample of a random variable is extreme, the next sampling of the same random variable is likely to be closer to its mean.
At some point the randomness has to be fair, to 'come due', from a legal standpoint, also for good game design.
I fact, in statistics, hypothesis tests can be conducted where traditionally a threshold for statistical significance is a p-value of 5% or less and the null hypothesis can be rejected that the game was fair in the first place.
Also, from a programming standpoint, randomness is typically achieved thru a random sequence which is sometimes seeded. It is a sequence that achieves a desired probability distribution over a reasonably short run, making it not truly random, and your point irrelevant.
@@blastyblast1010 The difference there is that the statistical analysis is discussing outcomes as a collection of the series, so regardless of any individual outcome, as you add more samples the the likelihood is that it will draw closer to its mean.
Gambler's Fallacy is specific the idea that a specific outcome will directly affect the following, which is incorrect. Each individual event has it's own probability. Of course, given a specific probability of an outcome, the likelihood of that outcome 'increases' over a series, when you consider many results as a series, but the Gambler's Fallacy is specifically about specific outcomes affecting the next.
So no, point is not irrelevant. Sorry. Also, spend some time on the wiki page for the Gambler's Fallacy if you're interested in a better explanation.
That's not necessarily true. There are instances in which the outcome of an event will, in fact, affect the outcome of the next e.g. through increasing or decreasing the probability that an event will occur.
I'm not saying that the fallacy isn't applicable in this game, just that the fallacy doesn't always hold true.

I love when garbage genshin players quit instead of trying to get hoyoverse to make the game easier. Go play in your little teapot, you won't get any excessive anxiety

7:04 you read it wrong originally before you get E2 you needed 2 Nihility character in the party for Acheron to get the bonus with E2 you only need to run 1 Nihility unit with Acheron to get the full bonus which means you free up a spot for a Harmony unit.
so basically her E2 is like screw every nihility unit i will do it myself then

This E2 is definitely very strong now but it's susceptible to losing value in the future. They will release strong Nihility debuffers in the future that can compete with Harmony. Question is how long it'll take.
@@ehalemusic6246 kinda but not really you will still run 1 other nihility with her which will be Silver Wolf she's a strong support for Acheron ofc of you don't have SW then Pela is the next runner up followed by Galleger who is an abundance healer that can help with Acheron stackd then Guinafen.
Acherons E2 will only lose value if you dont run Nihilty units with her. Even if strong Nihilty debuffers come it won't devalue her E2 because you will always have a Nihility with her. Case in point her E2 will always have value die to how she and her kit works.

I understand your pain.. Bailu is my highest eidolon character (at E3) and I didn't select her on the standard banner so those are all from lost 50/50s.
She just won't leave me alone.
Edit: Wait I just got an idea (rare for me actually). They should make it so you can block a character from your pulls. No, it should be up to 3 characters you can block from your pulls!

I got 3 black swans and her lightcone before a misha and i wasted like 90 pulls and i had like 60 pity in character one and idk in loghtcone because my history reset
I got 6 5 stars including her and her lightcone both once, across all banners all at extremely low pity i was livin happy
God that pain... I feel so bad. I got E6S1 Acheron and E6 Gallagher in 363 pulls. I had been saving since the losing the 50/50 on Kafka's rerun.
e2 acheron is insane, because sparkle is so good for her, even at e0 she is slightly better than other nihility options in her team(beating the 115% to 160% dmg jump they give) so e2 is basically just giving you back that 45% additional dmg and then some
How does she pair with Bronya compared to sparkle?
@@chipham9837not as good cuz sp and its not great. Also, the nihility trace is insane because it’s not additive, it’s multiplicative so do the math

I won my 50/50 ok acheron and then made a 10 pull on the wepon banner i got her sig weapon 2 times very lucky tho her lc is useless on every other character.
My first Acheron is on 80 pity but I won the 50/50, my second and third Acheron is on like their 10th pity or something. For lightcone, I got them in one pull 😅

I hit a crazy lucky patch where I got Himeko, Kafka, 2! Dhils , Fu Xuan and topaz in like less then 90 pulls ! Although that was a while ago and my luck has been complete trash as of late (missed out on ruin mei and sparkle and all my 5 stars now have been at like 80 plus pulls ) so yeah there are def highs and lows lol

Lost both the 50-50 and 75-25 at high pity (75-78 and LC 72), felt as gutted as you and had a similar logic for giving up on the LC (instead of Eidolons in this case), I'll be saving the guaranteed for Sam's LC instead.

My Archeron is doing 120k-170k max damage so far, relics are all at 0 w terrible substats. Traces are maxed and I have her light cone. Team was Aventurine, black swan and ruan mei …I am going to try her w silver wolf and Kafka tonight n see 🥹

Wish I could have shown my last 10 pull for her LC. Not sure the likelihood or rarity of the pull is, but I not only got the LC itself, but 2 more copies as well. So got her LC 3 times in 1 pull.

I get the feeling. I've been real bad being consistent playing star rail because I haven't won the 50/50 since 1.0. Genuinely I have lost 6 50/50s in a row and only one was at 45 or lower, I follow the standard of almost every character arriving at 77-80. I had guarantee on Black Swan so I tried for her cone, second bronya cone came out at 76 rolls. If my math is right, my account has had a 1.5% chance of losing this many times in a row. My friends watched me roll my E3 Bailu when Acheron's banner arrived and were kind enough (or horrified enough) to all gift me rolls to pity. I, however, don't play this game as a job. So for that alone, I really hope your luck turns around and you get blessed your next banners my guy. With some of Aventurine's gambling luck maybe we'll all feel better on the next banner...right? - a fellow gacha masochist
