From what I hear this what happened. When she was 16 her family drifted apart and her, her mom, and her brother didn't live together. Her mom ended up moving in with her new boyfriend, her brother lived with his girlfriend and baby. Before she left to live with her brother, she was living with her grandmother. Then a year later her mom's relationship ended and she also went and lived with her son (Layton's brother) till he lost his job and they all got kicked out. Then they lived in a motel for a year until Layton moved out to live with her boyfriend when she was 18. Since ya'll seem confused.

I had a couple times where I was hungry as hell but didn't take away from my babies. I was to proud to go on welfare. I regret that now because America has no problem taking from me. Anyways I'm about to graduate in August so anyone struggling just know , the world is yours if you get an education. It may be hard but trust me it'll be worth it in 4 years your whole life can change. From poor to rich with the comfort in knowing your kids will never go hungry

she recently did an interview w Ebro in October . this interview is OLD! She doesn’t feel comfortable talking about her current situations while going through them. SHES OVER HER PAST NOW which is why she felt comfortable to make a song, talking about her past. Her mom currently lives w her in Atlanta now, doing fine. And let’s be honest, this interviewer is very aggy. You can tell she was uncomfortable and not ready to fully open up about her situation w her mom. She was trying to be respectful and not bash her mom, you can tell she’s not that type of person!
