The guy mentions quickly a saw, cleaning supplies, gloves, duct tape, knives, fake blood spilling everywhere ... all immediate red flags.

Listening to him rattle on about his hopes and dreams…ugh I’d slap him one, give him a second to let it sink in wtf is up, finish interview. If you look into the full story, he was quite a success with his first movie. He had the eyes of a couple of A listers looking his way. He was going to go places. What got him caught was the fact he wrote a script based on what he did to his victims... and the police were like, "Well, hang on, none of this info was released to the public." So great at movies but, dumb asf. Lol. Oh yeah, and like you said.. a narcissist and a sociopath.
Mr. Ballen covered this on his channel. He is an amazing story teller.
Also, this guys first victim got beaten ALMOST to death but fought his way out and survived. However, he didn't go to police though, but regrets not going to police because he feels he could've saved anyone else getting killed. But when you're the victim you can't blame yourself for your actions and the way you deal with things afterwards. The victim that got away has written a book about his experience and stuff.

I was watching a video on a different channel where the mom and her bf killed her 5 y/o daughter, left her naked body in the dark basement, and buried her body at a landfill. The bf would play a game called "chicken" where he would choke her until she passed out. The few times she was allowed outside, the bf would shoot her with his pellet gun, making her run and cry. I wanted to kill the mom/bf and while in tears, I thought about how I wouldn't be able to sit across from the POS people and fake being nice/sympathetic like the detectives.

Yes, rent a garage in your name and then post in messages online to the victim the address and describe how to get to YOUR garage and what it looks like. So that way when they go missing, the last messages will bring the police right to YOUR garage. Quite an intriguing mystery, I bet his movie making is incredible, surprised he hasn't won any film awards, I would think A-listers would be lining up to work for such a brilliant man. With the evidence, the interrogation was not even necessary...… yet, he even gave them MORE evidence in the interrogation to ensure the dots were connected.

I think in Florida it’s easy to get interrogation footage because agencies want to release some of it and redact it themselves, but other states usually require a freedom of information request and a fee to pay for redactions of personal info etc. Most channels don’t want to do the research and spend the money officially requesting interrogation footage, especially if you don’t know what time in the interview process you need and have to request dozens of hours of footage.
The agency releasing the footage then has to pay someone to watch and redact that dozens of hours of footage and they pass that cost on. I assume for major crimes there’s tons of footage and proceedings to filter through just to find the interesting parts and it could get costly in money and time.

Our group had a story about a fly getting into my soup while we were at a restaurant and was some sort of a comedy. We had a script that was partially written, and the final act was mostly improv. If he had said he had multiple sets of keys a good detective would have asked where he got the duplicates made. You follow that lie. If he said a set went missing you ask who would have taken them, where did you leave them usually? All lies lead to the truth eventually. You're always screwed if you run into a good detective.
