It's so lovely that you donate even when your children aren't attending that school. It's not something we do over here in England but I think it's such a good idea.

It would be nice if people did, but they more so do in America, as the schools over there aren’t provided with stationery and such, the teachers have to buy all that stuff themselves with their own money, so parents often buy stuff to donate to the schools for everyone to use 😊
Even though I’m in my 30’s I still get a pang of melancholy at the sight of back to school ads and imagery. It’s that clear reminder that summer is coming to a close.

Damn screw that lol! I can't wait for autumn though that's mainly due to living in extreme heat.
I also fully believe the US education system is a complete waste of time, I regret not just going into an internship after middle school. Seeing all the school supplies just makes me happy to be out of those prisons.

This video made me realize how much anxiety school gave me. I graduated high school and I'm taking a gap year and this is the first time I don't feel uneasy. Sure I'm going to be working 30 hours a week but I'm not stressed about school. It's so nice

I watched this after midnight with my wife sleeping beside me. When you talked about the hand sanitizer, I started laughing. I had to control myself and not shake the bed too much. She was not disturbed.

I don't know if I've mentioned this much but I really love your sense of humor nothing like a good belly giggle before I fall asleep. My husband has a set of the groove wireless earbuds they are amazing he's only accidentally lost him one time but I was able to find them they were on the ground in the dirt and they still work amazingly they're super tough and they handle pretty much everything he's thrown at them.

I'm 59. But I remember filling a new book bag with new erasers, pencils, glue bottle, crayons, campfire notebooks. We didn't need hand sanitizer. The first day of school was of Earth shattering importance. Having new supplies was utterly necessary. A snazzy pencil case to hold your little pencil sharpener, eraser and pencils meant that you were organized and together. Oh, it was Christmas!

I can testify to the discomfort of being a left-handed kid at school in the 80s and 90s! 🤣. My mom bought me a special pair of left handed scissors and they were stolen from my desk…. When I had to use right-handed scissors, they would cut into my thumb 🤣

I was wondering since you did shopping at both places-- did you see a big difference in prices at Walmart and target? Would you say that Walmart was significantly cheaper or were they similarly priced?
I'd say the prices were pretty much the same. They have to compete with each other, especially with back-to-school stuff, so it motivates them to keep an eye on the other guy's prices and try to not go too much higher on stuff.

So schools in US put out supply lists so people can donate the stuff? Isnt it bought with the money parents pay for admitting? How does it work? And is it for the kids to use that cant afford it and/or staff?
In our country, public schools (which are free) put out supply lists that they would prefer the parents purchase for their kids for school, but it is not mandatory. But sometimes a lot of parents cannot afford to buy supplies for their kids, so it is very nice when people donate supplies. What Mary did is she purchased everything on the list for every grade of a elementary school and is going to donate them to that school. You can find the lists on their websites. She is such a kind person, and as someone who grew up less fortunate it warms my heart. :)
Oh I forgot to add that a lot of parents buy extra for the teachers to give to the class, but usually they only buy supplies for their kids.
