@Motorcycle Adventure Stories : I have just acquired the Gaerne boots, they are really great, thank you very much, on the other hand, I found a difficulty in changing gears with the selector, is it just a matter of time for my foot to adapt?
you’re right. you probably have to raise your gear shifter a little bit. I have a video showing how to it. the f850 genuine shifter has its limitations. the best one is the one that comes with the adventure version. not sure if after 2021 bmw introduced the adjusted shifter in all versions. the video you can find here Problems shifting gears on BMW F850gs F850 with off road boots - adjust gear shifter for boots ua-cam.com/video/BcNPqf20bEE/v-deo.html. all the best and good luck with your gaerne.
Are you worried these boots dont provide enough protection, crush protection on the sides for example if the bike falls and lands on your knee and ankle ? I know some people say it's a MUST to have that crush protection for ADV bikes.
As a matter of fact i´ve been wearing these boots for almosto 20.000km. i´ve experienced a few situations offroad that can assure me the boots are excellent. Once my foot was literally under the back footpeg and the boot did its job. I would buy another one for sure. All the best.
Yes they do just fine for touring. I’ve been riding with them for quite sometime and they are surprisingly comfortable. The only problem is that they are not waterproof and not as walkable as a typical touring boot.If you don’t mind that, it’s excellent for touring . After one full day of use they will break in and look like any other pair of boots as far as comfort is concerned.
@@MrLuk78 Many thanks for the response. Yes lack of waterproof is a missing feature. But can make it up with a GoreTex socks. So you mean to say, the boots will be comfortable even for short walks in between tours after the break in period? If that's the case, I can just pick this up. How about gear shifting? I ride a Royal Enfield Interceptor...
@@MrLuk78 Just to add on top of the previous comment regarding walkability after break in period, hope the sole has a good grip, in case if I need to push my heavy bike in a slush or during rains if it will be grippy.
@@dudefromcbee for short walks they are ok, specially off road. They are sturdy and look very durable. Also, they do fine in warm weather . I haven’t tested it in very cold days (minimum 15o C) but will certainly require warm socks in low temperatures. The lining is thinner than the Sidi adventure. For gear changing you will probably have to adjust your gear shifter to open a bit o space so that you can fit the boot . Otherwise it will make uncomfortable to dive in your foot on a stand up position. The boot appears not to be as thick as some 100% off road but it it is still thicker than ordinary touring boots .
@@MrLuk78 Thanks a lot for the insights. This is really helpful. Mine would be more of tarmac touring and 10-15% off the road. So I guess it should be comfortable after the break in period. I was confused between the Fastback enduro, Gaerne Dakar and Sidi ADV 2.
Boa tarde Cristiano .
