  • The Pliosaurs ruled the oceans for millions of years but near the end of the Cretaceous they disappeared. Before their demise however they produced one of their most incredible species.
Today we breakdown the Pliosaurs final gasp, Megacephalosaurus.

Didn’t know a pliosaur survived till the late Cretaceous

We've uncovered Cretaceous Stegosaurs, Allosaurs, Diplodocids, Megalosaurs, and Brachiosaurs. It's hard understanding why people give any successful organism(s) little credit.

I would love to hear a breakdown video on a Pterosaur that I believe is very poorly represented; the American Anurognathid, Mesadactylus ( May-Suh-Dak-Til-Us)
Or maybe even a break down on the rare Australian Pterosaurs! Seeing as a brand new one was just announced not too long ago!

This was a great video about an underrated pliosaur! Thank you for making it.

In my opinion the pliosaurs represent the ultimate predator
With their strong bodies propelled through the water with their four huge flippers and of course their jaws which to me are the definition of what macropredatory's jaws should look like

Pliosaurs are cooler than Mosasaurs, it's a shame people hardly talk about them anymore

@@evodolka I'm also quite fascinated by mosasaurs, imo they're are quite different from pliosaurs in the sense that they embody this sea serpents form that we can find in old tails about the sea
However I would rlly like if we had an update for pliosaurs representation like mosasaurs had with prehistoric planet

@@vectil6055 true, Mosasaurs ARE super interesting too, they did just sort of show up and become the rulers of the seas out of the blue, bit funny when you think of it, I just feel like Pliosaurs have been ignored a bit is all

The "Megalo"part can mean great, giant, big or large, it's basically just a way to say a thing is massive

Maybe you could do a video on lokiceratops the new ceratopsian dinosaur. Although new to the scene it probably wasn't that much different from the other horned dinosaurs you did a video one. Four legs, robust body, horns and frill. Ate plants competed with rivals, fought off predators like dromaeosaurs and tyrannosaurs.

FYI I'm not referring to the specific name of medusaceratops which is lokii with two I's. I'm referring to the creature with a scientific species name based the bilateral asymmetry I heard that it shares with reindeer.

If you don't mind in answering--what exactly is so special about _Megacephalosaurus_ that is worth discussing? A quick check on Wikipedia will tell you that it wasn't even the last Brachauchenine pliosaur to live in the Late Cretaceous, _Brachauchenius_ was. It's fossils date 2 MYA after the former genus died off.
