- In this video, we start in Le Locle on a line completed in 1860, connecting Neuchâtel with France via La Chaux-de-Fonds, however in La Chaux-de-Fonds, we will deviate onto the line to Biel, which was completed in 1874. Normally the line to Le Locle is served by trains from Neuchâtel, but due to construction work, the trains from Biel were operating all the way to Le Locle.

Before the opening of the Grenchenberg line in 1915, that we've looked at previously (link: • ★ 4K 🇨🇭Tilt train Biel - Moutier - De... ), the part of the line between Biel and Sonceboz-Sombeval served as the international connection between Biel - Moutier - Delémont - Delle - Belfort. Afterwards, it was downgraded to a branch line.
Enjoy the scenery as we descend close to 600 metres on our journey through the Jura mountains from the French border to the city of Biel. We will change from Summer to winter in La Chaux-de-Fonds.

Wonderful presentation
we love these videos and have been watching quite a number of Switzerland. We would like to see when all the videos were made then we get a sense of time of year and day. For example this one Le Locle cut from people wearing shorts to snow, both were gret but we were not sure when they were made. Do keep them coming, not sure about the ones that start off in daylight then halfway through it's night time . Thank you for all of then anyway

Thanks for the video, it brought a memory back - of arriving at Le Locle aboard an SNCF X2800 to see the guard on a departing SBB train about to raise his baton. Cue, mad scramble aboard with bags.... then, when the guard came doing his round after La Chaux-de-Fonds and inquired on our destination (no tickets asked as we were on Eurailpasses) the penny crashed - we were on the wrong train! Our destination for the day would have been Neuchatel, but with the hurry we had got onto the Biel train instead without checking the destination board... rather than backtracking, my parents decided to skip this stage and head for our next stop, Spiez, where the "gastatteleiterin" at our booked accommodation very kindly found us a room ahead of our booked arrival date.
Interesting.. it must've been a while ago. What kind of rolling stock was operating on the Swiss side?
@@lorirocks777 we are talking early 1980's here, I must have been aged 8 or so. I don't remember the train formation, however I'd hazard that the SBB train was a RBe 4/4 + coach + pilot - I really can't remember that we had a proper locomotive.

I think a lot of traffic will be diverted via Lötschberg or mountain route.. but 90 freight trains per day can still use the base tunnel

Beau parcours, mais la vue est très très très inconfortable. La caméra est centrée sur le rail gauche au lieu d'être centrée au milieu des deux rails

On comprend que vous n'êtes jamais monté dans une Domino, je pense que la photo de la face avant donne un premier indice. Et pour le reste faut avoir vu le pupitre. Bon courage pour centrer et avoir un support fixe.
Is this train a commuter train? or is it a mixed use one? Travellers and workers ?
Like all trains in Switzerland, this train will carry a wide variety of passengers. There will be commuters, schoolchildren, students, shoppers, people going to sports or other events etc. Many passengers getting out at Biel will change there for destinations such as Bern, Basel or Zurich.

Blurred vision,, look at cars on road when train comes to a stop at station. They blurred, so as train moves fast on track, they look like the cars on the😮 road... Is a little better as train comes out tunnel, but stil very blurry. 16.58 perfect vision as always ❤
