Black Costume Spider-Man will always be my favorite redesign to the point where i think i like it slightly more than the regular costume, the Kaine Scarlet Spider costume is cool and way better than the og Kaine design And i don’t use ComiXology because their pricing sucks in my country, I wish they adjusted the prices depending on the currency like the Marvel app
Wonder Woman’s Rebirth redesign is (IMO) by FAR the greatest, most perfectly balanced character design I have ever seen! 😍 It is the PERFECT blend of warrior-goddess grandeur and pure feminine beauty.
Some of my favorite Superhero redesign Nightwing's Blue and Black suit with fingerstripes. So much better than his 80s diso suit and so iconic that changing it to red caused fan outrage. Captain Marvel's redesign from bathingsuit to the current Red, Blue, and Gold. It's gorgeous, powerful, and looks like something an air force pilot would wear. Scarlett Witch's black pants and red trench coat look from her most recent series. It's 100% more stylish and cool than the red bathing suit and M crown. Star Fire's 2015 and 2017 looks where she's still sexy but in a fun and cute way. She looks like she's wearing clothing that's fashionable and that she would actually enjoy. Both are head and shoulders above the Lobdell Red Hood run.
110% agree with the Armoured Spiderman from Slott's all new all different run being wayyy better in the game than in the comics Lmao just noticed my profile pic is literally the ANAD Spidey suit from the game 😂
I feel like the only person in the world who liked the ANAD Spider Man armor, lol. Then again, I liked New 52 Superman too, so clearly my opinions are wrong...
My two favorites is the black suit Spider-Man, and the pre-New 52 Superman's black and silver suit that he wore when he was thrown into the New 52 universe, which in of itself is a redesign of his 90s black and silver suit
I love the Scarlet Spider designs both Riley and Kaine. I also love the Third Spider Armor, the Anti Sinister Six one. I enjoy armored Wonder Woman, not the Gold Eagle but the Silvery one with the massive Kite Shield
Some new looks i like are Martian Manhunter new 52, Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle, Thor after civil war, ShadowMan, Mr. Terrific, Archangel, & Donna Troy Wonder Girl
Loved Moon Knight's Egyptian Armor from the Warren Ellis run and the redesign from Art Station mainly because it made the beak more compact along with other small changes.
I'm actually kinda surprised that you guys talked a lot about Batman-adjacent characters, but never took a deep dive into Batman himself. A great episode nonetheless. I personally like Barry Allen's current suit (I like the lightning accents added in the past few years), and I really like the Batman Rebirth suit (the one with the purple cape and the yellow accent around the emblem and belt.
Ethan Gohl I’m surprised that you said you liked the lightning accents since I have never heard anyone else say that. It just seems unnecessary for such an iconic costume.
@@DanV900 I think everything about the classic suit is great, but there's something about the yellow lightning accents on his chest that I really appreciate.
I agree about the flash redesign, but it depends on the artist. The reason why I think they didn't go deep into batman, is because they did it not so long ago
Batman would take an entire episode (I might be remembering it wrong, but I think they did one just on his costumes). As heretical as this may be to say, I actually like some of his movie costumes better than a lot of his comic costumes.
Whatever misinterpretations I have of your demeanor, I will say that you, Sal, are really great at reflecting on the industry & delivering the information in a clear/digestible way. All love here
Darwyn Cooke’s redesign of the Catwoman costume in the Brubaker run is incredible. That was perfect. The new design after the failed wedding with the armpits cut out looks stupid.
I personally love Batman's suit before New 52 happened, when he returned from "dying" and all the way through Batman Inc. The one with bat-symbol on the chest that lights up (and no undies outside the pants). Just too awesome, especially when David Finch and others penciled it. Spidey 2099 is my top favorite too. The original design.
I think Scarlet Spider's ankle pouches are brilliant. It's perfect character design. Spider-Man is one of the only characters where the flexibility makes the stylistic choice also practical for the character. Like Spider-Gwen having a hood because the spider sense makes up for the lack of peripheral vision. The Character informs how the suit is designed and becomes part of the world and reality. Something unique and only what that person would choose.
I love the one year later Robin redesign. I just love that design for Robin. On the marvel side of things I absolutely love the Silver Centurion armor.
My favorite Nightwing costumes are... 1. The classic black/blue, but with the eagle. The tips of the eagle wings stretch either over the shoulders and connect at the back, or they reach down the arms into the fingers. 2. The New 52 red/black with the eagle, but with red accents scattered on the suit.
Some of my favorites are Spider-Woman's leather jacket, Carol Danvers Captain Marvel, Black Suit Spider-Man (obviously), Laura's Wolverine suit (both of em), and Barbara Gordon's Batgirl (take your pick, Burnside, or Murphy's).
Right in the beginning I'd say my favorite redesign would be any of the recent black skin suit Catwoman over the classic purple dress, green cape exposed hair Catwoman
X-Men Jim Lee - Absolutely! That was my introduction to the X-Men and I fully agree that they'll always be iconic. I think the Wolverine Yellow/Blue and brown switches have become more a sign of his psychology (at least in fandom) but his one with the shoulders was fantastic. Also, I totally agree with Sal in that Rogue's jacket look is HER look. Aside from the ripped shreds of her Savage Land time, jacket-Rogue is Rogue. I'm also with Sal in the yellow-blue uniforms were solid and the Jean Grey one is my favourite. Beast - The character who has had the best and worst redesigns in comic history! Wolverine sans Adamantium - I refuse to accept that this ever existed. Or it's a failed Sinister clone while Logan is off Samaruai-ing off somewhere. Black Suit Spider-Man - I really respect that design (not talking of the symbiote stuff). Just like Sal says, it really works for the shadows and him climbing buildings. Scarlet Spider - I don't mind this one (even the pouches). To me, it's like a take on Rogue's jacket mentality and a more grungy version of Spider's outfit. It's visually different to the normal Spider suit without making it totally different to where you couldn't connect to its origins. Wonder Woman - I do like the "newer" version. It's probably my favourite version of the entire collection of her outfits but I really wouldn't mind if she had pants. Pants aren't an issue at all (especially if it's armoured) but her black biker shorts and jacket combo is just...I have no words. Kyle Rayner's Green Lantern - I can't stand his big mask. It looks far more like a villain mask than a hero's. I do like his outfit but I think it would work better if it was for a different hero. Great video guys and I'm surprised there wasn't any Batman talk here until that quick Batman Beyond look.
I think Todd McFarlane is my favorite Spiderman artist. I liked the exaggerated way he drew him. All the weird positions he'd pose him in, was very unique.

To me, Taskmaster always looked like he raided the bargain bin of a costume shop and cobbled together what he could find. I liked the more streamlined and tactical look of the Udon costume.
I LOVE water-bearer Aquaman! While story its self not to great the concept I loved and fueled my own ideas for fan fiction regarding DC superheroes. As to make Superman look more alien I use the electric blue with red, blue and yellow suit
Wait?! Are you not showing the many examples of what's being described? I only slightly remember any of this. SHOW THE SUITS. The before and after is why i clicked on this in the first place. Love the shows Sal.
My favorite has to be Superboy’s costume within the year before he got the boring t shirt and jeans look. I think it was 2001/2002..? I loved the colors, his hair, he actually had a bit of scruff like he was getting older. It was fun and it was nice. Too bad it changed so quickly with the move to Smallville.
Didn't get mentioned: Punisher. I'm personally a fan of the version that's just an old guy in a skull Tshirt, a la Tim Bradstreet cover's for the Max run. Most of the spandex costumes are basically minor variations of the same thing (sometimes they add a coat), but John Romita Jr's version is the only one that looks really cool.
