    Octo 2 is my top 2 favorite game off all time!!!
    I expect that in a possible sequel they change the genres of the Warrior and the Scholar characters or even... MAKE NEW 8 STARTING JOBS!!
    Cause I'm tired of Hired Help (it makes multiple boss fights extremely easy)
    There's no reason to repeat those jobs...
    They need increase the difficulty... And make the story really feel like a journey for the 8 characters, similar to Final Fantasy 6...

    1. Shared exp for people outside party
    2. Decrease the random encounter rate

      The way I played the game was trying not to warp to cities for progressing the story. I fought every random encounter while traveling. I think the EXP rate was a little high such that my travelers were a few levels overleveled for the chapter I was aiming. I don't think the random encounter rate was that bad.

      People complain about the random encounters but they are actually quite low compared to most JRPGs I've played.

      There should be an option for low, medium, and high that way people get what they want.

    I love this series so much and feel like I am very invested in its longevity and its continuation with sequels. I basically agree with everything you said in this video. The uniqueness of each character and the combat system is where this series shines for me, as well as the games amazing music.
    Also this is random, but give us a male dancer SQUARE ENIX 😂 just flavor him as a bard to fit an acceptable gender role since that would matter to them and make him have interest in in the role Light magic has in the world. Just a random thought / idea lol.

      I definitely hope they mix up genders of characters who have been the same for the first two games. Male dancer and hunter, and female warrior and scholar.

    I think the difficulty needs to be rebalanced. If Octopath Traveler 2 had OT1’s difficulty, I’d call it perfect. But for some reason, I felt like bosses died too easily and didn’t do enough damage. Also, having adjusted level scaling is a great idea. If Pokemon Crystal Legacy can do it, Square can.

      Adjusted level scaling is a brilliant idea. The reason I prefer OT2's difficulty to OT1's though is because I think it's more consistent. My biggest issue with game's difficulties is when there are wild spikes and dips and OT1 had that in spades. I'm sure they can find a nice balance in between for OT3, whether they will though is another matter.

    They need to make it so that all characters get exp (but less) if they are not in your current party, it’s just more convenient

      I mean, you'd still need to get JP
      Better idea would to update character levels to 12 for example after Chapter 2s are fully complete, along with some JP

      Idk. My first playthrough I did the first 4 I got all the way through, then started fresh with the last 4. Can't do things like that if they add exp. share. I mean, I can, but it wouldn't be fun because my team would be overleveled for the first few chapters.

    OT3 needs these things to be a perfect game (in my mind:
    More crossed paths. The way you described crossed paths sounds amazing.
    Side quests that require multiple path actions to subtlypush players into actively changing their team formation.
    Formation needs to be available earlier on and would help the first two points greatly. I always felt like my four characters were distant from the four that aren’t active. But, have formations earlier and having party members drop in and out would be amazing.
    Combo attacks and combo path actions. I know they are thinking about this because the OT1 case has them in their fights. Latent actions are amazing, but I was really coming into OT2 expecting combo attacks because it seems so obvious. Combo attacks would also help the first three points. As, characters can grow closer together in story and that be shown in combat.
    Secret jobs that are a mix of “you need to find the weapon to unlock the skill” and “you need to beat this mini-boss to unlock the class.” Basically. A mix of OT1 and OT2.

    I totally agree with the improvments you said, I also think from visual standpoint I'd like to make the cast sprites more detailed or maybe a bit bigger.

      That might help although they'd have to figure out how to adjust all the other sizes of the objects and buildings to accommodate for the change, so I feel like it may be unlikely they'd consider that

    I agree with most everything you said here, I'd just do them a bit differently.
    -I hope they do switch up the standard classes and weapons more, since there are many archetypes they could use. Like a berserker warrior (Axe/Sword), a stealthy hunter (Bow/Knife), a monk cleric, etc. Importing in fans and tomes from Cotc would be nice too. I liked how OT2 did the Armsmaster and Inventor, too. You got the job early on, but got more skills over time. While OT1, you would get all the starting classes after/before all the Chapter 1's, then you'd be too underleveled to get the advanced jobs till Chapter 3/4.
    -Love the idea of Field Actions, I can imagine the apothecary having Forage to get mixing items depending on the field; or the scholar could have Chart, to make an actual map of the area. They'd need to be balanced but it would offset a feeling I have that Path Actions aren't being used to their full potential. For example, after guiding a prisoner they don't go back to prison after being used in battle, they go to their hometown, and a quest could start from there. Or maybe after stealing from a noble, they become humble and move to a rural area. Stuff like that would hit the journey theme of the series.
    -Crossed Paths did improve interactions between the cast but I think it should've taken place during the core story, too. Like if Agnea and Hikari both had chapter 2 in the same place, Hikari could help Agnea find where to perform and Agnea would help Hikari find his allies. You could even choose whether to use either character's Path Actions to solve a problem.
    -I think the chapter structure of "arrive in town, meet people in cutscenes, Path Action, dungeon, and boss" gets repetitive, especially if you don't find a character interesting. I think some stories should be broken up by having a chapter end without a boss, like buying the ship in Partitio's story. The thief could just steal something from a mansion, the Apothecary could find a herb in a forest, the merchant could buy more stuff for traversal, etc.
    -I guess battles could use a shake up, but I'm unsure how. Maybe you could use BP for a special effect? This would probably go probably around the middle of the game, maybe after everyone's chapter 2. You could also have dual skills for each pair, like Burgle between a thief and merchant.
    -I think stuff like a beastiary or being able to change random encounters is a genre wide expectation for all JRPG's at this point. Also while it would be nice to swap party mid battle, I think having all 8 travelers at once should only be saved for the final boss and secret boss, whatever they may be.
    Anyway I rambled, but great video.

    Big no to character portraits for me. The appeal to the stories comes from using your imagination for the scenes. Goofy portraits that take up 50% of the screen would take away from that.
    Keep the focus on the sprites, keep the screen clear.

    Here’s an idea for the 3rd game (note this could be a horrible idea but whatever haven’t really read it out loud or shared this idea so go easy on me if it sucks ass)
    So maybe for the 3rd game they could somehow tie in both games. Instead of choosing from 8 characters you choose from 4 (yes reducing from 8 so slightly worse starting options but bear with me). But along your journey you can find the other characters from the other games but older so in total it would be 20 characters to choose for your party. Since there are dupe classes of jobs maybe make it to where the two of the same have maybe a different fighting style which would also change the skills. Also making the skills inherently different would help. To make it less of a pain to choose your party increase the party limit but also increase the difficulty along the lines of Octo 1. Granted having 20 characters to choose from is insane but I was bored one day and just thought what if all characters were in the same game.
    Any thoughts?

    One idea I have for a secret job would be spell sword. This job would add a physical weapon strike of your choice to everyone’s elemental attacks. I say go for new jobs that really shake things up.

    I think that having each character have their own unique variant of their job but not have others have huge same variant. Maybe even have it possible to have a cleric have another cleric job to become a stronger cleric job

    Ot3 : each character main job should be exclusive for them, plus their exclusive main job can be upgraded twice for example from a thief to assassin to master assassin. For their secondary job it should be other jobs non exlusive to them that can also be upgraded but only once instead of twice. Also they should improve the game meshes and textures into more highly detailed game with ultrawide support. The game is already great in the first one then massive improvement in the second one. Cant wait for the third one. I assume as early as early 2016. That or bravely default 3 then octopath traveler 3 somewhere in 2018. But people like octopath traveler IP more than bravely IP so we'll see.

    I agree with everything you said! The only thing I think both Octo games lack is puzzles inside dungeons. About the release date, I really doubt it is going to be in 2026. I expect a trailer in 2027 and a release date in 2028

    I think it would be cool if you could start a chapter but at a certain point you would need a path action of another character to progress the chapter. This would make crossed paths feel more natural. It would even be cool if for some chapters you would need the path actions of several characters.

    One big thing kind of irritating me with the game is that each battle resets the last memorized battle option, so I find myself having to renavigate the same menu selections less intuitively.
    I would also like to see more path options that aren't functionally similar at all.

    There are two things I would like to see the most. Even though I didn't play the seconed game
    1. Make the ost official.
    2. REMOVE RANDOM ENCOUNTERS.

      No random encounters would be quite nice, they could even do it like Star Ocean The Second Story R did. I really hope Team Asano paid attention to that game for ideas.

    Oh also if they add new characters and old characters in one seamless world where they are all connected and use the OT COTC mechanic of 8 players in one battle.

    One thing i hope they add is more pixels to the world and characters like they did with OT2. Adding more is a big goal but adding more to really show more of the characters designs and the worlds designs would be grand. Also if they add airships which I think they will would be a great mechanic for world travel as well as new kinds of enemies and gameplay field actions.
