      So glad you enjoyed it and remember it! I have other Disney videos from the early 1980s you might like: 1982 Fantasy on Parade, 1983 American Gazette Parade, and 3 different 1982 EPCOT Center videos.

      We’ve been finding other gems from 40 years ago too. Look on my channel for videos from 1982 EPCOT Center and Disneyland parades from 1982-84.

      Not that I know of, but I’ve been discovering several vintage Disney gems in my old VHS tapes. More to come! Thanks for watching!

    This is so cool!! I didn’t go to Disneyland till 1995. Miss the 80’s vibe so much!
    They used a song from Willy Wonka. They would never do that now.🤣
    Even the Wooden Soldiers were there!😄
    Thanks so much for the video!!

      I remember the song Pure Imagination from Willie Wonka surprised me even at the time, great song though! I agree they’d never do that now. Thanks for watching!

    15:08 - That song is from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971). It's from Paramount Pictures.

      Yes, it was a very interesting choice considering it’s not Disney. However, it is a fantastic song and fits into the theme well.

      @@PalmSpringsLinguist Also, that movie is owned by Warner Bros. Pictures. The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray has the 1968 Paramount Pictures logo.

    What a great take on Disneyland and the Disney parks. Thanks! May I propose you take yourself to Paris, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Hong Kong. You're going to experience some very interesting takes on Disneyland cir 1980. -Frank

    Why are they doing a song from "Willy Wonka" (at 15:08)? That's not Disney. The closest it comes is an episode of "The Muppet Show", where guest star du jour Ben Vereen sings it, but Disney did not own the Muppets back then.

    • @PalmSpringsLinguist
      @PalmSpringsLinguist  Рік тому +3

      Weird, I know. I have always loved that song, but it’s surprising knowing how many Disney songs there were to pick from!

      Well, to be fair, I just remembered: "Willy Wonka" was shown on the Disney Channel a few times, which is where I first heard of that movie.

      Probably the same way they did in the original book. Or in the Tim Burton movie from 2005.

      Disney Parks, over the years, have never shied away from using "foreign" songs if they fit the theme ... in fact, during those years too ... Leslie Bricusse's other songs were also used for the Xmas Spectacular Show at WDW .... songs from SCROOGE actually! ;-)
