You have become one of my top channels - educational, tutorial, fascinating, and challenging! I used to speed thru your material because of limited time…….I just can not do that in all your materials, all are so very interesting & and personal value to me, my literary journey and my continuing maturation in learning to truly love reading classics. Well done, very well done!
You could talk about anything and I'd be intrigued 😉 I love listening to all your reviews. I'll share this with my youngest daughter who loves reading. Cheers Obelia From Australia 🦘
Hi! Just wanted to pop on here and say I read this on your recommendation and really enjoyed myself. I always love a whodunit more original than the norm, and massively appreciate one where you can identify the culprit if you pay enough attention, and this book delivers both. I do agree with you it's just short of prize-winning quality, but well worth a read nonetheless.
Am looking forward to reading this..I actually purchased it just now. I will send the recommend to Bibliophile reads group, that should be fun ! I looked at the stack on your desk and I have read almost all of those !!!! ekkkk
I will definitely go look for Morality Play. I see you have a Terry Pratchett book in your stack - I love Terry Pratchett! I hope you do a video about his books.
Great video. Where can I see the list of 100 best classics? Also, have you thought of possibly doing a list of best classics for beginners (to classics reading). Things that won't scare us away.
FACTOID: In the theatre the profits are called THE NUT. The term comes from the Middle Ages when players traveled by wagons. In the middle of the wagon wheels was the ‘nut’ holding the spokes together. Because actors were not trusted, the town citizens removed a nut from the wheels and only gave it back if no actor had stolen anything and nobody’s wife had been seduced. So it was called. ‘making your nut’.
Will read it! Btw, what do you think of Dorothy Sayers? I started Five Red Herrings today and am loving it best of the ones I have read. The writing is great.
I love your videos as much as I love Unsworth's writing. I listened to an other historical novel "Ruby in her Navel" written by him: - highly recommended. 😊 Let me know if you read it.😊
When I was a kid, I read the Choose Your Own Adventure book, Who Killed Harlowe Thromby? in which the reader is asked to by the future victim to find out who is trying to kill him. I thought there should have been at least one ending in which the reader doesn't fial miserably at this job, and Harlowe Thromby survives, but I guess that would contradict the title.
Love your reviews! Have you ever read or heard of a book called The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon? It is highly acclaimed. It is the best book I’ve ever read!! Amazingly fun mystery. This would be great for your new channel on modern books
It was from my other channel to do with modern books which I'm consolidating into this channel. The focus will still be 90-95% on the Classics but I will add some modern literary works here too, if they are good enough. My other channel will be focused on aspects of life in the modern world and how to deal with stress.😀
Greetings, fellow Tristanite. I could be wrong, but I believe both channels are now merged into one. This is most likely a previously recorded video from before the merger. I think there’s a video where he lets us know his reasons, and where he mentions he’ll upload some previously recorded stuff so it doesn’t go to waste.
I found Morality Play in the used book store. I found most of the book interesting but the end....not really. But if the ending could be changed....very good for a more modern book.
Oh I say, I may have dropped a clanger. A moment ago your user name appeared on my screen as Marlon Brando. Now it says drbenway. That's why I made the Brando comment. Now I fear I look rather silly.🤦♂️😀❤️
A contemporary author, Caleb Carr, recently died and should be remembered. He wrote "The Alienist" and "The Angel of Darkness", mysteries taking place at the end of the 19th century. He had many other notable achievements. There is even very good interview with him on YT.
Tristan, you already talked about this book. Same author, same plot. It is a good book, only not sure if the title was the same. But it is the same book, and I read it thanks to you. You talked about it in your other channel.
You are right. I am consolidating my books onto one channel. The other channel is going to focus on aspects and musings on modern life and how to find relief from it's stresses. I have a feeling my garden will feature in it a fair bit.😀
I love that you and your wife spent the evening reading the book together. That's sounds so nice and cosy, even if it was a book about murder 😂
We did the same with "And Then There Were None" by Agatha Christie. There was a gale blowing and we were scared silly 😜 😅
@@tristanandtheclassics6538 it's cozy as long as you both end up being alive 🤣🤣

"Do you like murder?" Why yes sir I do. Reading about it anyway.😂
Lol😂
Well I love the "brutally honest book review" part Captain! I want to read Morality play just from the first bit you read. Well done 👏
Sounds interesting and I've added it to my TBR.
You have done it again..
I just ordered the book
Tristan has that knack. I would have ordered it, too, but I had it already.
Thank you for this great review - I’m intrigued by this book!📚📚📚
Wonderful start to your new channel!

It was great to see the new channel. It is an interesting and intriguing book to start it.
I have taken this on, by your recommendation and whilst not complete yet, it is a wonderful read.
Sounds like an interesting and unique mystery! Thanks for sharing 😁
I thoroughly enjoyed it. Read it in a single sitting even though I had no intention to.😀
I will definitely go look for Morality Play. I see you have a Terry Pratchett book in your stack - I love Terry Pratchett! I hope you do a video about his books.
I enjoyed your review and ordered my copy. Thank you for another bookish discovery!
This is great, thank you. Love the 'reviews' at the end! ;-)
Pleased you enjoyed it. 😀
Great video. Where can I see the list of 100 best classics? Also, have you thought of possibly doing a list of best classics for beginners (to classics reading). Things that won't scare us away.
I will read this - terrific video thank you!
Loved your readings of quotes❤ will be reading Morality Play!
love this genre and your recommendations!
Good video and review. It's on my TBR now.
Added to my list…thanks Tristan!
I enjoyed this enormously. But I got it under Tristan and the classics as usual and you said it should be under Tristan talks books. So I’m confused.
As always, it’s the infectious enthusiasm!

“Factoid” means “something that people think is true, but actually isn’t”.
I'm on the Shetland series at the moment but, holy cow, I'm intrigued.
Thank you Tristan, I always like your recommendations, greetings from Brazil
This will be a great channel! Please review more!
Wonderful review! I laughed at the “reviewers’” voices!!
Haha I love the last part of the video!
It was from my other channel, but I'm consolidating them as the other channel is going to focus on aspects of life in the modern world.😀
It sounds intriguing although not something I would normally choose, but I'm in! I'm going to put it on my " holds" list at my library😊
Very tempting !
I will be adding it to my giant to be read list
This sounds a fun book. Another one to add to my Want to read list.
Will read it! Btw, what do you think of Dorothy Sayers? I started Five Red Herrings today and am loving it best of the ones I have read. The writing is great.
I'm not a murder mystery reader, but now I am so curious.
I love your videos as much as I love Unsworth's writing. I listened to an other historical novel "Ruby in her Navel" written by him: - highly recommended. 😊 Let me know if you read it.😊
I do fancy checking our more by Unsworth. 😀

Oh, I've seen the movie! I didn't know it was based on a book.
When you mentioned the mystery is solved and we go back to normal in the end, how many pages/chapters does this normal go for?
Wonder if the author was inspired by that scene in Hamlet with the traveling acting troupe.
Oooo good theory!😀👍
Love your reviews! Have you ever read or heard of a book called The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon? It is highly acclaimed. It is the best book I’ve ever read!! Amazingly fun mystery. This would be great for your new channel on modern books
Absolutely agree. My favourite book
Add it to the pile
It's a dreadful thing watching that book pile grow, isn't it? 😅❤️
I think I have this book somewhere; I am intrigued now.
This sounds like a very interesting read, though I'm not sure you meant to upload it to this channel?

I like your videos.
Thank you. And I like your films Mr Brando! 😀👍

Has anyone ordered a cheapish copy of this? I'm looking for a paperback but it's 30 pounds on Amazon 😢

Or you just waschen the movie "the reconing" with Paul Battenberg, willen defoe and a very young Tom hardy
Sorry bad autocorrect....watch, Bettany, Willem
I'm at 60 pages...and frankly, not very into it. Must admit, never really like book about mediaval time...update: DNF
