Beautiful era One of my friends as a kid had an old school bar set up in the basement kind of like one of these Thanks for sharing these memories Reminds me so much of growing up Cheers 14 By the way, thanks for your comment on the academy. I have been a docent at the academy of science for about a a year. Fun to engage with the kids - some really are smarter than me
That's great. My parents installed a little bar when they built our downstairs room. Once in San Francisco I saw a really decorated basement bar like seen in the film only not as much stuff. I asked the man where he got all his stuff and he said he was a garbage collector (back in the day when garbagemen lifted the cans themselves.) He said all his good stuff had been thrown away - even flags from WWII. It was impressive. I didn't know you were a docent. That's wonderful. They do such a service for visitors and it takes a lot of training and knowledge (besides knowing where the bathrooms are)! My mom was really impressed by certain kids who actually knew their science. For years she used a cart with items on it for people to see and pickup.
This was awesome. A time capsule into the life of Frank and Grace. They were so proud of their house, especially their Bar Room. Completely and eclectically decorated with their travels. They couldnt of covered it with more gee gaws, so proud were they. The picture of them both above the phonograph spoke volumes and the deco standing ashtray , made me invision how it must of reeked of cigarettes. I think that they had no children. Thats how they could afford the fancy color film and camera. ,Alcohol was a huge source of entertainment and obviously played a huge role in their lifestyle, of which looked empty. He filming her in lounge attire , and she filming him, haming it up , cutting the turkey. At least Grace and Frank had each other. The music was perfect. What a great window into a 50's couples life. . 6:06
Thank you for your comment. I'm glad you liked the music. I was thinking a person could also always open another window and play Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, etc., when watching home movies like this. I agree that Frank and Grace were proud of their house and especially each other. Would love to know more of their story. I did see an old newspaper article that announced Grace Genta took over hostess duties for another person at Bruno's restaurant. I get this feeling that they were both restaurant people because there is another film which I have yet to upload that shows Frank working in a restaurant. However to me I don't think their lifestyle looked empty. I think they had productive lives and certainly got around to different places with the film camera. Here is a list of some of their films that I have worked on and uploaded to my channel: SFO Helicopter Airline, Frontier Village in San Jose, 1969 Union Square, Sailing SF Bay, SF Peninsula, SF Columbus Day Parade, Sonoma County Fair, Backyard Garden/Outdoor Dining, SF Stern Grove Festival, Chateau Marmont Las Vegas Sign in Los Angeles, 1967 Redwood City Centennial Parade, The Nut Tree Railroad, Snow in SF 1962, 1968 SFSU Student Strike, 1971 SF Oil Spill Cleanup, Sausalito Hippies 1967, SF Peach March 1971, and the SF Human Be-In. They travelled to many other places. I hope to continue to share their films and the places they saw.
@@mcmd2009 They definitely had relatives. I just haven't figured out the family tree but I'm sure someone with the ancestry know-how could put it together. It's possible one or the other had a child from a previous marriage unless they only married each other.

@@spinsandneedles I really enjoyed it, and all your other work. Thank you for what you do. ❤️
@@theresaroda Thank you. It's especially nice when home movies don't have the shaky camera work. They really did a good job with these.
I thought the two younger women near the end might be their daughters.
