  • Montage with ballet dancer Sergei Polunin created as a "Thank You" to the Russian fans who have supported Sergei Polunin since he left the Royal Ballet in 2012. Selections highlight Sergei's performances in Russia beginning with his "Big Ballet" appearance aired in October 2012 through his most recent performance in July 2022. Locations include Moscow, Novosibirisk, St. Petersburg, Ekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk, Nizhny Novgorod, and Sevastopol.
    * Song: "Sleeping Pill" by Maestro Chives (feat. Royal Blue).
** Editor's note: Because I chose to focus only on Sergei's performances for Russian audiences and tried to include clips from every year since 2012, while also trying to mostly use clips I haven't used in my other montages, many of Sergei's performances, including his more recent classical ballet performances, are missing from this video. To see more of his recent work you can watch these montages:

In May of 2016 he left full time theater work to establish his own independent dance company and pursue a wider variety of independent creative partnerships in dance, film, and modeling. He has toured worldwide with his ballet company, Polunin Ink, producing and performing new solos and ballets including Sacre, Bolero, Satori, Little Red and the Wolf, Rasputin, Dante: Metanoia, and Johan Koborg's "Romeo and Juliet". (Русский перевод в пунктах ниже) ✨ I’ve wanted to make this video for nearly 2 years now, focusing on Sergei’s performances in Russia, to try to express my appreciation for the people who have been there for Sergei since he left the Royal Ballet, who gave him a place to land as he struggled to find a new life and creative freedom.
I’m aware that in the time between my original idea and now, my desire to simply say, “Thank you” has become loaded with a political charge. I wish it was otherwise. But as our world seems to get more and more divided, I find myself feeling even more indebted to the people I want to thank. And I don’t want to be the kind of person who lets a hostile political climate keep me from saying what’s truly on my heart or creating a work of gratitude.
So I offer this montage as my gift of thanks to the Russian people who supported Sergei after he left the Royal ballet, and to those who support him and share with his fans around the world today.
As politics and world events affect Sergei’s opportunities to dance and the ability of his fans to travel to see him, it is you, our Russian friends, who we will continue to owe a debt of gratitude to, knowing your support of him will keep these precious years of dance from being lost to him and to the world. 🌹
Thank you. For supporting Sergei. For sharing his dance with us. For giving us all this immeasurable and priceless gift. Our world is a brighter and more beautiful place because of you. ✨

I adore this video. Cleverly edited and lovely music. Enjoyed it very much. I would like to add my thanks to those who supported Sergei when he leapt off the "precipice." There were those who thought he'd plummet into oblivion. But he soared... and the gifts to the world were glorious and many, as so artfully cataloged in your video. Thanks also to those who still support him, through thick and thin. Like you.

@@IndiaInk It was an honor and a privilege. I found Sergei via TMTC and from there I delved into his story. I was transfixed by all he'd been through and ACCOMPLISHED at such a young age. The "momma" instinct in me kicked in. He was still on a bit of a slippery slope at that time and all I could think of was I wanted to help. But how could I help? At all??!! Then, it came to me... if I could just crack the door open a smidge, Sergei could take it from there, like he had with me. TMTC had tapped me on the shoulder and then sent me headlong into Sergeiland. If I could get people to SEE him, just one time, they'd be hooked! Not just the people who were lucky enough to see him in person, and who already loved and supported him, but MORE people, people all over the world. The world needed to know about him, and after seeing how David LaChapelle's masterpiece went viral, I knew videos were going to be the method of my madness lol. So, long story short (too late Pamela) and nearly 300 videos later, I don't know how influential my plan was, but I'm sure having fun along the way! Big hugs from Texas to you and everyone else I've come to know through Sergei. He's made the world a much smaller place, and that's a good thing.

    • @IndiaInk
      @IndiaInk  Рік тому +6

Even if only a fraction of your 300 videos have had the Million view reach (a MILLION! views 👏❤️👏) your accumulated efforts I’m sure have had a broad impact on letting people get that first look that brings them into “Sergeiland”.
And yes, there are many of us who, once we love him, will do anything we can to guard and support him. I’m grateful to have videos as a way I can use to support him and join you in showing as many people as possible who he is - as a dancer and as a person. ✨

To my knowledge, none of Sergei’s Russian performances seen here in this montage are available as professional recordings available for purchase. However, you can see parts of, and even a few of his full, ballet performances with him recorded by audience members at the page linked below (including performances from his Royal Ballet years, some of which are available on DVD/ Bluray)
      LOOKING FOR POLUNIN BALLET PERFORMANCES?
You're invited to visit this page on my channel where I have been working on organizing all the quality recordings of Sergei Polunin's performances I've found on UA-cam.
      ua-cam.com/users/IndiaInkplaylists?view=50&sort=dd&shelf_id=2
Most of these playlists (over 30 so far!) compile near-complete or even full performances of ballets including Giselle performances with seven different ballerinas, Swan Lake with three different ballerinas, the Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, Spartacus, Mayerling, LaBayadere, Coppelia, and many more!
You can also find his “Bolshoi ballet” performances (the competition he was on that is in the opening of the video) on the playlist on my homepage. If you have trouble finding it, let me know and I’ll add the link here in a reply.
