Its more than the funny moments, the 2 Grumpy Old Men movies have a certain charm to them. For example I love how the scenery of the state of Minnesota is practically a co-star. In Grumpy Old Men we get to see how nice it looks with all that snow and ice. And in Grumpier Old Men we get to see what it looks like underneath all that snow and ice. Just beautiful. The small hometown feel also adds to the charm. Makes one want to move there to live & hopefully have Max, John Pop, & Ariel as neighbors

Why is it, when a film is set in Minnesota, it's nearly always in winter? Summers there are nice, too. Best 2 months of the year. lol

For this movie I think it had to do with the ice fishing. Which is big there. Also very few places have true winters so even if the setting was supposed to be elsewhere it would probably be filmed in Minnesota still.

I watch the first movie and second movie with my dad. The first movie, Gustafson jr. is in the hospital on a breathing machine. The second movie Gustafson sr. passes away. I always compared my dad to the Gustafson's and myself to Max Goldman. My dad was admitted to the hospital in January and was immediately put on a breathing machine. Then in March, my dad passed away. These movies have such a sad meaning now. Little did we know that my dad's fate would be just like these movies:/

Jack Lemmon was one of the greatest actors ever however he could not keep a straight face when Matthau said his lines in this movie.
