This is not unusual for young females to want to emulate a mother with a baby. The young female goes through hormone changes and it happens often enough. I think that's why the older mother is not jumping her to get Amber back so quick. In the troops I've seen this and some documentaries have said the real mother will let it go on so that the younger females 'learn' about babies.

Sochhun you did the right thing here by not getting involved. I dont understand why people are being so rude about this. When we see nature documentaries do we see those filmers get involved???? Um NO, because these are WILD animals! Things happen in nature whether humans are there or not, just as in the big nature documentaries on tv, they don't intervene when animals are hunting or fighting. Nature must run its course. Sochhun could have been seriously injured here in he stepped in. These monkeys live as a troupe, & they will defend & protect every member in their troupe especially the babies. Sochhun would have surely been attacked. Sometimes people tend to forget that when watching monkey videos/documentaries they are still very wild animals, & I think because monkey act so human-like at times & we sympathize much more & it so easy to forget this. Nature is nature, & thing like this unfortunately happen, & getting involved can pose more risks to the wild animal & person (s) as well. I also think the "kidnapper" is possibly an older sibling baby sitting, which monkey mothers leave their babies with their older off-spring quite frequently to go forrage, eat, & get a little break too. If anyone has ever seen a monkey video with an older sibling baby sitting, then they have seen the baby monkey very unhappy & trying to get away, & the older sibling is jut trying to watch the baby & hold on to the baby until mom gets back, & if the baby monkey can see its mother in sight it will struggle even harder to get away. Mother monkeys leave their baby's with older siblings to also help with gaining independence, & to teach them not to always solely rely on mom, & to learn socialization skills within the troupe & without mom around. Now, I will admit this could be a non-family related younger female that has snatched/kidnapped the baby because she wants to "play mom" for a while, & the mother could be waiting for the right advantage to get her baby back for a couple different reasons, One-mom doesnt want to cause the baby to get hurt if she catches everyone by suprise or cause a fight where baby would get injured, or Two- this younger female is higher-ranking then the mom & mom knows she cant just take her baby back. The grooming at the end where the mom finally has her baby back & the mom is grooming the supposed kidnapper does not give me sufficient reason to believe they are related or that the kidnapper is a older off-spring of this monkey mom, because monkeys dont just groom family. Monkeys groom for a few reasons, one is to please the higher ranking members in the troupe which get groomed the most, & they also groom to bond & socialize, & the very last reason..to stay clean & free of parasites on their fur. So, this mom could be grooming either because this is one of her older offspring & older sibling to the baby, or because this young female is higher ranking than her & she is trying to please this monkey so she doesn't take her baby again after she has just gotten her baby back. Either way this is nature, & its going to happen whether humans are around or not.

Thank you so much Megan Jones, I love to watching animals program, the first time I roll down my tear and angry photo shooter, why they not help.... For the monkey here I will not interfere with their life as nature but I will interfere with the people who kill the monkey here.

SP BBlover Your welcome Sochhun. You have such an big heart for these animals it hard not to feel that way. And yes I most definitely agree on stepping in if a person is trying to harm or kill a monkey or any animal for that matter. Mommy doesn't really care because baby is getting older and she is weaning this baby. The kidnapper is wanting to practice being mommy. But right now she is bully. Baby this size will finally be strong enough to get away when she see the right time. Its the newborns that get kidnapped that's really scary sometimes. Like poor little Billy.See how she acted when baby got away and went back to mommy. First thing she did is put her hand over chest to keep baby from suckling.

The comment that the mother wasnt too concerned because baby had already eaten.... that has to be right. did anyone else notice at the very end baby goes to mom and tries to nurse right away? The baby was shunned by mom and not permitted. Hmmm. The theory that mom is letting the juvenile learn sounds like its correct to me. Boy, was that one feisty, tough little monk though lol.

Hi Sochun, Occasional Commenter here... I'm probably gonna get flamed for this - for which I WILL NOT RESPOND to such negativity, ignorance (notice I didn't say stupidity, there is a difference and I respect that none of your followers that I've seen are stupid - ignorant maybe, but aren't we all a little bit, since we aren't primatologists, but are all human?), or hatefulness, but I feel I have a right to post my public opinion here too...LOL. BTW, this is gonna be LONG. Take a seat, pour yourself a cup of tea and get ready... I got a LOT to say and I'm sorry to take up your page space to vent my frustrations about the human race.
So, in your defense, I commend you for NOT getting involved. Its a monkey matter, not a human - monkey matter - they are an entirely different species with their own set of rules, own hierarchical structure, and without a HUMAN LEVEL of morals, emotions or social guidelines. NOTICE I did NOT say that they didn't have morals, emotions or guidelines, because I do believe they have emotions and guidelines - morals, I'm not so sure about, but that's neither here nor there. They are only doing what comes naturally and is socially acceptable. We are NOT their tyrannical leaders, especially not you. We are merely their observers, especially you (since you're there, obviously). We are not supposed to step in, no matter how bad we feel for them; it could very well cause a "bad" situation to get worse. And, we must remember, what's bad to us, is not to them. I certainly hope you don't let others cause you to feel guilty or bad for not interfering... you did absolutely nothing wrong. Instead, you did everything right, no matter how difficult it was to watch for you. Also, Sochun, you shouldn't have to defend yourself against the people who claim to like you and your videos. You take time out of YOUR day to record, edit and post these videos for our enjoyment. If someone doesn't like the video, or doesn't agree with it or your opinion, then the "thumbs down/dislike" button is there for them. They don't have to watch or finish watching if they don't like it. And, yes, I know this is a public forum for any and all to voice their OPINIONS, but is it here to be hateful and/or mean, disrespectful, and/or shame someone(especially the channel owner)? Maybe that's how some view it, maybe some feel entitled to say and do as THEY please without any thought of the repercussions... if that's the case, then honestly, do you want to surround yourself with that type of person? I wouldn't, but I'm not you, nor am I a significant person in your life, thus I cannot begin to tell you what to do or how to do it. I just feel for you having to endure not only the trolls on YT, but to be insulted and disrespected by your loyal viewers, some of whom you've formed a liking for or "friendships" with, is just awful to me. Its pretty two-faced of some viewers to be upset about a video that shows [assumed] abuse between monkeys, yet don't give a second thought about abusing or shaming the owner of the video and channel. Hmmm....now there's some food for thought.
IMO, the older monkey that took Amber was only doing what her instincts "told" her to do. Was it stressful for Amber? Yes. But, only a little. Would she have preferred to be with mom or doing something else - FUN? Yes. Did it injure her? Was she in danger? Unlikely. Did she suffer? Only a little. No more than when she'll be weaned, really. No. Is she traumatized for life? No. Will this likely happen again? Probably? Will she be the one doing the kidnapping one day? Most likely? Why? Because this is how monkeys behave and thrive. You obviously know and understand this though. See, if Amber were truly being abused, starved and deprived of mother's nourishment, traumatized, and felt TRULY in fear of her life, then she would've been a LOT more vocal, struggled more and for a longer time, and wouldn't have been nibbling here and there. Besides, mom was there for reassurance the whole time. She wasn't being dismissive of the situation, instead she was being patient in order to protect her baby. Often times passiveness and patience gets you a lot further than aggressiveness and impatience. The juvenile that kidnapped her could barely hang on, contain and/or control her; she really wasn't that much bigger than Amber. She wasn't being mean or abusive, she was simply being a stubborn, intent, little bully. Essentially, she was trying to "play house" and "keep away" at the same time; Amber just wasn't cooperating. It was actually kind of comical to watch the juvenile struggle, get bit and scratched, and worn out all in the name of "mine, mine, mine"! Ha! Ha! I wonder if when it was all over, if she thought, "Wow, was that really worth it?" LOL! Had it been an older monkey, just maybe a year or so from being of "child bearing" age or a female that was pregnant, weaning their current baby, or one that had just "lost" a baby, then the situation would've been much more serious, but that was not the case here. Its commonplace for kidnapping to happen in many, many species of monkey, at various ages - kidnappers and babies. Often times, its innocent and doesn't last long. In your video, this particular kidnapping lasted, what, 10-15 minutes? And, aside from the kidnapper's pride, everybody was happy and fine at the end. Well, Amber wasn't happy when she went to nurse and mom brushed her off... I wonder how many noticed that? That proves that Amber wasn't suffering, because if she was, mom would've snuggled her up, held her tight, likely groomed the heck out of her and nursed her to their hearts' content, but that wasn't the case.
We as humans tend to have this incredibly disgusting, asinine tendency to feel we must stick our noses into everyone and everything's lives, using the lies we tell ourselves that we are doing good, we are improving their lives, we are helping them... well 9 times out of 10 we are causing more harm than good and we are too arrogant to look down our noses and admit it. Its a shame really, because if we would just take a look around us, we would quickly realize how much damage we've done in the name of "help", "improvement", "progress", and "good". How many species have gone extinct? How much "home range" have we taken from species, causing severe endangerment? - Palm oil plantations and Orangutans are a prime example of that. So, yes, IMO, had you interfered in either kidnapping, you could've inadvertently caused REAL harm to come to either/both babies. Its good that you 'stayed behind the camera', rather than 'in front of it'. The way we can help any and all animals, including our own kind, is to educate ourselves! That saying, "Knowledge is Power", is very true. See, what isn't being realized by those who are 'guilt-tripping' and berating you, is that THEY are now being the ones doing the hurting - hurting you! The very one that they've come to respect and care for! All over ONE video! Its shameful. It really shows how morally inferior and devolved the human race is and has become. If your followers, were truly "loyal" and respected you as much as is claimed, then you would've been given the benefit of the doubt and trusted that you knew what you were doing. I also feel, as I've done this myself, that if they questioned any of the monkeys' behavior to be wrong in any way, whether or not humans should intervene in situations such as this, and whether or not intervention would benefit the monkeys - any and all of them - they should've researched it first, THEN commented based on their findings rather than with raw emotion, bull-headedness, and flaming tempers. We must remember that we as humans ARE NOT ALWAYS RIGHT, just because we feel like we are.
Whew, that's my novel and I'm sticking to it. LOL! Again, Sochun, sorry to take up so much space, but I just had to get this out. I've seen so much of this negativity and ignorance on so many monkey/ape videos that I felt I must say something, I apologize to you or anyone who reads this and gets offended. It is not meant to be offensive, insulting, or berating in any way. Rather, it is intended to be a plea for humanity to "get a grip", step down from its high-horse, lose the ignorance (again, NOT stupidity, they are different and I don't feel that any of Sochun's followers, or him, are stupid) and gain an education. It only takes a few Google/Bing searches to educate yourself enough to understand what's going on in these "offensive", heart-wrenching monkey/ape videos. Once you understand them, you'll be able to enjoy the videos more and appreciate them for what they are - monkeys and apes, NOT humans. BTW, NO, I do not feel as if I'm smarted, better, or superior in any way to anyone else here or anywhere. I am actually quite humble, but do have strong moral fibers and I will stand up for what I believe in. I try to do so, however, without being a bitch or bully. Thanks for reading this Sochun and anyone else. I truly hope it helps someone, or at the very least doesn't offend anyone. I send out well wishes to all!

+lou Curtis You're welcome! LOL! Although, I feel your reply is a bit sarcastic. To answer your question, not that you'll be able to verify it, but I did study human psychology in college, but majored in veterinary medicine. I've been around animals my whole life and worked with a variety of species from domestic pets, to farm animals, to exotics and some primates. When you spend nearly your whole life working with animals, and the people who care for them, you learn a lot. Also, my experience in the working world, outside of the animal kingdom provided a lot of insight into human behavior. Not to mention, if you just 'sit still and watch' the world go on around you - reading/watching the news, researching a plethora of topics - and just interacting with lots of different people. In short, lou Curtis, I spoke from my heart and mind. My comment wasn't intended to be insulting or berating, so I apologize if you took offense to it. Sometimes the truth hurts, no matter how good a person you are, or think you are; I know this first hand.l

Two kidnappings in one video ? Right ?
The beginning of this video I think this Mami is Dolly & baby Dee Dee & I suspect that the kidnapper is related to the alpha Amari & is Amari's daugher(?) And, because her Mom is the alpha, and is higher in the hierarchy of the troop, is why this young female (maybe Amari's daughter) can kidnap & get away with it & I think she was "practicing" to be a Mami & it is common for babies to be "kidnapped" & I believe it's "what they do" as part of their lives....At around 8:35 I think now Amber gets kidnapped & the female is also "practicing" to be a Mami...the kidnapper acts submissive to Jade & shows her teeth....I my humble opinion, you *absolutely* did the right thing by *not* intervening !! 💞Vivi💞

Hiya Amber, 1st, How's your Mom doing? 2nd...There are several new babies & a lot of "kidnappings" going on in Amari's group & in Jade/Amber's group. In my humble opinion because female offspring tend to stay in/near their maternal group, this could be why there are so many adolescent females doing all the kidnappings to "practice" & it's just what they do & is a "normal" thing that's part of their lives. I could be wrong & this is only my opinion.💞

Not saying to hurt the juvenile but just to startle it for a sec to turn around to look at you for stepping on the tip of its tail (on the fur not the tail tail) see what I mean? Crazy. I think it's awesome how patient the moms are. Almost like they know it's going to be okay, and if it's not, they'll make it okay. Especially in the second case. What in the world was that teenager trying to accomplish by holding her hostage? Anyone know? It's not big sister giving mom a rest in this case, right? I also thought it was interesting that the first mom groomed the prep after getting the baby back. You'd think it would be the other way around. But it was almost like the mom was like "rookie mistake, it's ok amateur-hour I forgive ya you big dummy" lol.

The kidnapper is higher rank. She is bowing down to the higher rank. A lot of kidnappers kill their captives, this one wasn't abused so mom is saying thank you.

The young monkey is related to the mother monkey. This is normal behavior if the young is the mom's child or even her sister. That's how they learn. And that's why mom monkey is grooming the young monkey.

This is normal behavior_I don't think the snatcher and this baby are siblings because mom would have beat her ass.I can be objective because I do not "know" these babies like I do Arroz's baby. The snatcher and the baby could be double cousins and the baby is on the weaker side of the family. This is why baby mama doesn't do much because the snatchers stronger mom will beat her ass and/or shun her. This is how they police themselves weed out weaker/inbred blood.the sacrifice of one to strengthen the other. Either way The knapper will end up being a better mom for this behavior maybe learning what not to do?

Hi Sochhun. Sure, go ahead and step in the next time something like this happens again. Then, if you do end up getting bit and infected with rabies or even worse, who do you think is going to have to foot the bill? You, since it's certainly not going to be any of the viewers that have no problem telling you what a bad person you are for not doing anything. I have no idea how you're able to ignore all of the comments you receive from people that call you a bad person and other names. You are awesome handling it the way you do, because I'd tell them off and block them from my channel. Maybe if you do involve yourself by breaking up fights, kidnappings, stealing dying babies, etc, you'll have to start taking donations again just so you can use it towards all of the vet bills that start piling up. Take care and keep on doing what you feel is in your best interest! 😉

+Amber Imray Thanks Amber for stepping up and saying something, very good advice.
Some people's expectations of Sochhun are beyond the limits. Hypothetically, if he had stepped in and got hurt, then people would say; "He should have known better, what was he thinking........... etc. People are to quick to judge!

Exactly he is on their turf in the middle of them, if he shows any aggression he will pay now or later. Even the mother of the infant would see him as a threat. I bet 2 hours After this film mother was grooming napper. They police themselves with their hiarchy. If they ALL see him assert authority he would not be able to ANY them. I would have been tempted to boot the bitch though.lol

+Amber Imray Although we've chatted on my thread, I felt it only appropriate and courteous to comment on yours. Well said! I 100% agree and kudos for standing up for Sochun! He deserves all the praise he can get! This is his channel and he's worked so hard on it. He does not deserve such negativity and condemnation. Not only does he enjoy interacting and filming these fascinating creatures, but he does his best to take in consideration his followers' comments, suggestions, advise and requests. He does so well in keeping a good balance. Most importantly he's respectful of these monkeys' lives and lets their stories play out as nature would have it.

what's wrong with amber's mom???? for crying out loud, poor baby is putting up a fight to no avail...gash that juvenile is aweful. amber is calling for mom but she's too busy stuffing her face. can't stand to watch this...he's going to hurt her, every time he hops from one rock to the other amber's bottom part of her lil body hits her stomach with edge of it. amber should bite the crap out of his hands. it's heart breaking to watch...

  • @ripsofia8155
    @ripsofia8155 7 років тому

it's one thing to watch a napper take a baby and hang with it, play with them and teach em a few tricks of the trade, but to watch em mishandle and pull them by the tail with no mercy, hit their lil bodies against these rocks, sit on them etc is indeed hard to watch. makes me wana wish the worse on these fuckers...it's even harder to see the mom be so close and not do anything to help her baby. can't stand to it, and them. this napper is so abusive...

Sochhun, your page is much better than the other pages covering Anghor Wat & Tom. They don't tell stories. They don't follow through on each monkey and associated babies and children, etc. it's just like random filming but your page is based on telling monkey family stories so we can follow what's really going on and get a better understanding of the dynamics at hand. BIG DIFFERENCES! I always refer my friends to your page. Keep up what you do! It's unique in a cluster of copy cats. ;-). Take care! Carmen from San Francisco. 🐵
