On November 16, 42 BC young Tiberius was born to Livia Drusilla and Tiberius Claudius Nero. The elder Tiberius was an ally to the deceased Julius Caesar and thus to Mark Antony in the civil wars after the dictator’s assassination. As a consequence of his parents’ loyalties, the first years of the infant Tiberius’s life were spent on the run. By the child’s fourth birthday, however, the family was able to return to Rome having been granted amnesty...

Tiberius was one of Ancient Rome's greatest generals, whose campaigns protected the northern frontier. He reigned for 22 years, and the first part of his imperial work was excellent. Later, he came to be remembered as a dark, reclusive, and somber ruler.
Tiberius, a popular victorious general, spent a period in exile before reacquiring power near the end of Emperor Augustus's reign. As Augustus's successor, Tiberius grew the imperial treasury, leaving 20 times the wealth he had inherited.

Everyone who takes interest in ancient roman history needs to remember the context of this period. The roman republic was still in everyone's memory, and the ancient historian who were documenting those periods were by no means neutral. They were from the upper class of roman society- the people who could write. They used to be the ruling class under the roman republic, and were in general defiant towards the empire. There is definitely a tendancy among ancient roman historian to paint every emperor as either a weak man or a tyranical maniac - only the very popular one were spared this treatment. Take every ancient source with a grain of salt

Augustus neither liked nor respected Tiberius indeed his final words in his will said. Though fate has cruelly taken my heirs I have been forced to go with Tiberius. Basically anyone in the family but Tiberius. Augustus was a practical man though he personally didnt want it nor Tiberis covet the throne. Circumstances forced them to accept that reality, all the other heirs were dead, if Tiberius had refused another ambitious man would have stepped into the vacum.

    For me Tiberius wasn't reluctant,
    >He probably just doesn't like how Augustus portrayed himself as god and have a cult following, most likely cause he knew the person closely and know his charector faults and other bad sides, that's why he refuses to take "godly" titles, cause "I am a human afterall".
    >He wants to senete to work and be powerful. Senet during reign of Augustus became a council rubbestamp yes men, either he doesn't want to take all load of running empire or doesn't want such great institution to get decayed, so he continues to entrust more and more duties to them.

This was one of the biggest issues with putting ares to the throne on the front lines where they can be killed. If they were kept off the front lines working where they were less likely to be killed, would have changed the line of succession while making sure the likely best aire to the “first citizen”.
The other issue is the senate did not have the power to help select the new emperor requiring a senate vote and having a more stable system to make sure a new emperor was chosen properly with out civil wars wud have helped to keep Rome stronger through out the centuries.

During ancient, early medieval, mid-medieval, late medieval, and even early modern times, the Romans, Greeks, Persians, Egyptians, Jews, Arabs, Assyrians, Aramaics, Arameans, Sumerians, and other Mediterranean peoples shared a certain camaraderie.
Despite occasional competitive displays, they seemed to harbor a mutual dislike for non-Mediterranean peoples, whether non-Med Europeans, non-Med Africans, non-Med Asians, or possibly, if aware of them, non-Med Oceanians.
