Coming from a Dev background, with 2 years of experience. I’m still a junior dev at Government Insurance Company in my current city. While I’m new to industry, I’m very intrigued to learn more about Network and Infra. It’s interesting to see the downsides of networking. Thanks for the video!

25 years in the field and I can attest that I never expect to go out Friday nights. Expect some changes to last well past midnight. If you can, start your changes Saturday mornings. Do not do two changes at once or timed too closely to each other (also limit the # of changes for the weekend). Make sure your testers and/or other change implementers are lined up accordingly and have their cell# just in case. Expect to lead and own each and every project even if your part is inconsequential. If you don't have control, no one does. Try to move up the ladder to stop doing changes, but still expect some calls from Jr.'s on the weekends. I can go on, but I'm getting stressed just thinking about it. Save your money, invest wisely and retire early as you will hate this !Sht sooner or later.
25 year IT veteran. The biggest challenge becoming increasingly so over the past 10 years is the need to have experience with multiple vendors for each section of networking. CCIE? Great, but you will need experience with 2 FW, 2 LB, client/site/cloud VPN experience, and likely 2 SDWAN. It is likely that you will be pushed to automate solutions as well - so, one will need to decide if they are going to stand firm on engineering vs. ops - and in ops you'll likely get responsibility over the config mgmt and deployment pipeline, so automation.
Hi, I think cloud networking is a completely separate domain especially with so many cloud service providers and platforms. Also, with any new field there is always demand before it reaches a saturation point, I personally havent ventured in that direction but would be keen on exploring more

But as Network engineer working a configuration technician he has to keep doing certification from fresher till 20 years he is forced to do 5/10 certification and that too at low salary than core software networking developers.
Thanks for your comment mate but where I will disagree is that as network engineers you are also forced to climb the ladder and slowly but steadily transition into more senior and manager centric roles where the need for constant "technical" certifications may cease. low skill or jobs without any knowledge requirement will be paid very low and u need to be lucky to find any job opportunity.
with the fast and constant learning as network engineer u open ur own company and offer IT services on a low level to other small businesses or u can just search for relevant network engineering jobs vacancies and u will find plenty of them
Couldn't agree more! Thanks for your reply.
@@thesocialdork1133 i even start in this field without any knowledge - company is willing to teach me ina trainee program. in this time i learn all the network basics from a to z via cisco network academy.

Dealing with other people is the worst part in IT
Its one of the best part of IT. And its the worst part for the failed people. Who don't want to work. Who don't know how to handle pressure. Who don't know how to work with Toxic people. They don't know how to resolve conflict. They don't know how to solve problems and above all, they don't know how to control humans, maintain relationships and get best out of them.
Tell me, any place or organization in the world where you don't have to work with people?
Rather to blame IT, better to improve your leadership skills, that's what you are lacking?

AI will replace you all very soon 😂
I can tell you've never managed an enterprise network environment before 😂😂😂😂. I do hope AI does something about people who try and talk about a field they know absolutely nothing about though.
