    When you first pour beer, don't pour into glasses and throw away. Pour into a pitcher, cover the pitcher with tin foil tightly and refrigerate to keep clod until the head becomes beer, than you can drink that as well. The tin foil is to keep the co2 in the beer so it doessn't go flat.

    put some dry ice at the bottom of the tub and regular ice on top. Add about 1-2 liters of water. Great effect for a party.

    a hand pump will work, but only if the keg is being consumed in the next 24 hours. A few macro-brews also have a better resistance to oxidation, and can last quite a bit longer than that.....but the one day rule is a pretty good way to go about it.
    a c02 tank is a must if your going for a kegerator or for a keg that your hoping to last quite a long time (or is of a higher quality than the traditional macro-brews)

    • @ESSBrew
      @ESSBrew 7 років тому

      They might taste ok with oxidation, but they will be flat as hell, no way around that. Science and all.

  • @jwcolour321
    @jwcolour321 11 років тому +1

    Considering we'd go through multiple kegs during the course of a 3-5 Hr. party the air pressurized system doesn't really make a big difference. If you plan on keeping the keg around for a little while though I see your point.

    Use block ice, it doesn't melt as fast as cubes do. What kind of beer is in that keg? I see the barrel was once from Pete's brewing. Since they closed in 2011, I was just wondering whose beer is in the keg.

    @pirtea it does not cool in less time it just cools more. it raises the melting point of the ice so that it will stay as ice longer. so i guess it might cool faster but it will stay colder longer.

    have any UK guys tried one of these American kegs is it as good as draught beer, better than cans?

    • @Mindraker1
      @Mindraker1 8 років тому

      American beer is slightly alcoholic urine. It has sucked since the Prohibition era, when Americans couldn't have alcohol at all. We've only just been able to (legally) import certain European beers into some states (and still not into some other states) because of the "high alcohol content" in them.

    • @jjtotheb
      @jjtotheb 8 років тому

      +Mindraker1 we drink American beers here. bud is 5% would hardly call that weak. was wondering more about the quality of the beer from the keg vs beer from the tin/can
