Maiden water flight of the Mako! Awesome Maiden!!

This is the water maiden of my scratch built Mako Sea Plane. What a great maiden flight... couldn't have gone better.

I have built quite a few water planes, sea planes, and hydro planes, whatever you want to call them (all from scratch). They all had significant drawbacks. I tried the Polaris... flew great, rough landing and I dug the prop into my control rods... So, I tried the FT Sea Duck... flies great but requires a large space, and not a great barnstormer (it hangs in my garage)... I tried the Gamera.. I used the FT A pack and even with that small a power pack it still torque rolled and was difficult to fly. I tried the polaris again (different scale) but had the same issue.. rough landing busted prop and push rods... I tried the Drongo, it's kinda in-between the Polaris and the Gamera so I had had high hopes. Cool plane, but no rudder control on water... next... the Polaris again... same issue... along came the Mako, and all is well on the waterfront. Solid plane on land, water, and grass. A great setup for a camera mount... on my next one I will extend the nose to get a full unobstructed view. Great start!
