Fun fact-The Young Ones had bands on it as a way of getting a bigger budget. They found out that ‘variety’ shows got a bigger budget than ‘comedy’ shows. So they said they were a ‘variety’ show with the only rule being that they had to have one additional act (which was usually a band although in one episode it was a lion tamer)
I just saw this and loved your review! I think this band and especially David Vanian are so underrated and that's a shame but we'll keep this treasure for people who understand what they are all about. ❤ I'm in Melbourne and cannot believe I'm going to see them in March!!!!😛 hope you're there and would love to say hello. This is my first time seeing them live and can't wait!!! 🤘🔝👏👏👏
Hey! Thanks heaps for watching! Yeah they are freakin’ awesome! I’ll definitely be at the Melbourne show too! It’s sure to be awesome. One of my all time favourite live bands. I can’t believe it’s supposed to be their last Australian tour. I guess they’re hanging it up soon or just tired of traveling all this way. Who knows but it’s going to be a sad day. Alas, cannot wait to see them walk out on that stage and smash it up!
The Damned are great and good fun to meet in real life, the Captain kindly posed for photos and shared his jelly babies with us at my friends wedding…………
I may have influenced this concert? About ten to fifteen years ago I suggested on their old message board doing a concert in an old theater performing songs with extra instrumentation accompanying them and a little more visual, theatrical flair and the guy running the message board said he would take that idea back to them. Could they have entirely forgotten about that and later on got the idea in a different way? Absolutely! Yes, great and unique setlist. Like that "Tightrope Walk" is on there. Deadbeat Dance and She Must Be A Witch would have been great additions.
I've seen the Damned uite a few times since the 1980s , l have most of their albums on vinyl . They're a fantastic live band. Me and my good Lady wife saw them this year in Birmingham in the UK when they plated tracks from there first 2 albums . Definitely worth seeing . Not heard about this a,bum yet so thanks for the update 👍
I would have loved to have seen those reunion shows of the original line-up. All reports I read said it was fantastic! It would be awesome if they could take that reunion to the world. I wonder if they filmed it professionally for a release? Hope so!!! Thanks heaps for watching… appreciate the comment. Have a great holiday season.
@@TheLongGoneLoserRockShow where are you going to see them? So far, they've only announced another UK tour. Hope they come to Oz. I don't know if the Captain's vaccination status will prevent him from entering. He couldn't play the US this year because of it.
I was at this gig and even managed to get on the DVD! There are quite a few songs that were played that Night that don’t appear on the release unfortunately (Nasty, Shadow of Love, Smash It Up, and New Rose if my memory serves me rightly) would love to see a full show release at somepoint cos Nasty was the Highlight for me
Of all the ‘ original ‘ British punk bands The Damned had the additional ingredients of Cool & Fun in equal amounts as opposed to The Stranglers whom had Cool with Menace . That’s my opinion anyway. Thanks for this from near Bournemouth 🏴❤️
Great album, IMO, great setlist as well. Interesting tidbit if you watch the behind the scenes documentary of the Young Ones, they mention that the Damned went out for curry after filming that episode, got into a food fight in the restaurant and subsequently broke up again afterwards, having only just gotten back together. I'll be seeing them in April for the 6th or 7th time. ETA, where the hell did you get that Sloppy Seconds shirt??? I'm seeing them next August, if I don't die and the world doesn't end.
Saw them at Punk Rock Bowling and they had about 5 different shirt designs so I grabbed two. This being one of them. I’m sure they’ll have it at the show you’re going to. They’re so freakin’ awesome!!! So much fun. You’re gonna have the best time ever.
but why didnt they include "Dead Beat Dance" from the Return of the Living Dead soundtrack? i needed to watch this video so I dont have to open my copy of this album. I also have the glow in the dark version.
I dunno why they didn't include it... You might have to ask them directly. I don't know them personally. You should tear that record open and crank it up! It's seriously bitchin!!!
Was lucky enough to see The Damned supported by The Ruts back in the day. What a show that was!
That would have been a great show!!!! Wow!!!

Yep! I do remember them saying that in the dvd extras. That’s so funny. Latest video is about the young ones too. Love that show.

The Blu-ray is amazing!
I did see the blu ray and what a great show! Can’t wait to see them here in Melbs soon!!! Hella excited for that show.
Ladies and gentlemen, how do? Opening line from a fantastic album. I fuckin LOVE the damned.
HEY MAN, WHAT’S HAPPENIN’?!?!
Alan Ford better know as brick top I believe but have also heard it’s Albert Tatlock from Corrie !!
I was yesterday years old when I found out that the Vanian part of his name was from "Transylvanian". The world makes a little bit more sense now.
Hahahahaha The Damned forever!!!
That’s pretty clever.

It’s great got the cd and all colours of the vinyl. New Rose 🌹 ❤️
Next level record collecting!!! 🤘🏻
It will only glow after it's been charged under light for at least 10-15 mins, longer than that would be even better.
💀Damned if you do, Damned if you don't💀
