This song could be about suicide. I think at the beginning of the song she refers to Peg Entwistle who jumped off the H on the Hollywood sign in 1932. So when they say "there's no need for us to hesitate", "let's take control", etc... it's like they are talking about committing suicide. And when they say "take off all of your clothes" it could mean "be who you really are", "don't pretend to be happy if you're not", then by saying "be the master of your own fate" they are saying "jump if that's what you really want". I don't think Abel is her dead boyfriend like some people think. For me he represents her darkness.... "there's nobody here, just us together" means she's alone, with her own dark side who "is keeping her hot like July forever" because she's burning inside (her own demons).
She pretends to be happy, wearing red and smiling all the time, but inside she dreams of "blue skies forever" because she's sad. Her dark side is leading her to death. At the end she said she wrote twice to her boyfriend "there's no stopping now" like if she left a suicide letter before jumping, so she won't change her mind. "Greens light forever" means she's finally free. The boat made of red ribbon could refer to a poem by Charles Brent entitled "what is dying"
