Better idea, what if it was not actually Deku's x ray? What if it was a different quirkless kid like Aoyama's X-ray? After all, with the broken bones Deku had, he should have had numorous X rays on his foot, and another Doctor would have commented on it. Especially since he was at UA. Also, why has none noticed that Aoyama has 2 joints in the Pinky toe, and yet still has a quirk? When Aoyama got his quirk, did they take out a joint as well to keep the lie up?

Idea: AFO can only steal the power's of the quirks, not the roots of it (Say he steals a hardening quirk, he gains the ability, but the Dna allowing you to harden is still there) this would go well with the AFO stole Deku's quirk & it's decay, due to the fact that Shigaraki is immune to the effects of decay, meaning decay would also have no effect against Deku as his body would still have the Dna to be immune to it.
Theory makes 0 sense shigaraki developed his quirk and first used it way before deku was born or at best when deku was still a baby, so unless deku was quirk screened as a baby (we know he wasn’t because why would his mum bring him to get quirk screened afterwards) and somehow AFO managed to steal Deku’s quirk whilst in hiding and on life support without anyone noticing then ye the theory don’t make sense
You know deku's parents asking afo to take his quirk might be true because when the Dr tells deku and mom that he is quirkless and deku cries at home , his mother also cries saying that she's sorry instead of giving him some encouraging words.
Actually, if you think about Dekus father having fire and Mom having telekinesis. Fire is the result of the "decay" of fuels into energy, typically by breaking the molecular bonds with some force(energy). And telekinesis is applying force (energy), to something causing it to move. Decay could be a natural combo of both, combining dads ability to break bonds at a touch, and moms ability to apply force at a distance.
along this thread, imagine if intense focused heat has something to do with how molecules are broken down in decay and thats a key for fighting it, if thats possible

Very much the definition of reaching... something decaying, or being aged, relates to cellular decomposition. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, which applies to literally everything and in MHA every quirk pretty much.
@Durka Bomb no it doesn't? I.e. radioactive decay. A decaying orbit. A decaying signal. Chemical decay. But I'm talking Partical decay, which is literally the process of something converting to something else. The conservation of mass happens and nothing is loss by way of mass, but energy is often output, and in atomic chemistry you need to input energy to break those bonds. But again, I'm talking about a manga about people with super powers.
The theory that Decay was Deku's original quirk and that he accidentally killed his father with it is interesting, because we know the only way to steal One For All is to break the current user's will. And we know that All For One thinks pretty far ahead with several contingences for his plans to reach his desired outcome. So if Decay was originally Deku's then All For One could have groomed not only Shigaraki but also Deku, because I'm positive that All For One would anticipate that All Might would try to pass on One For All to a Quirkless individual. So setting up Shigaraki as the new villian and Deku as the new potential inheritor of One For All could be part of a long play to try and break Deku's will with the shock that he killed his own father and that his original quirk was used to make Shigaraki into the villian.
To be honest this theory falls apart as soon as you realize the age gap between Izuku and Shigaraki. As Izuku is currently 16 while Shigaraki is about 5 years older than him which puts him at 21. Meaning by the time Shigaraki awakened decay Izuku wasn’t even born yet/was just born which means theres no way that the quirk: Decay could have ever belonged to Izuku. On top of that we know when AFO takes someones quirk it leaves them in a temporary comatose like state which happened to rag doll in season 2-3 and katsuma’s father when Nine took his quirk. So how would Izuku’s mother not notice that her child is in a coma and when would AFO even have the chance to be near Izuku in such a public space? Plus most children usually discover their quirk before they go to the doctor based on what we’ve seen. On top of that Why would AFO need a fire quirk from Izuku when he has dabi (the strongest fire user) at the palm of his hand? Unless something else is stated this theory already falls apart as theres too many plot holes for it to work. Unless someone can give another point of view.

Since I doubt Inako would let any random person get near Izuku and if he was just born then he's under constant watch by his mom and doctors in a public hospital. The x-ray of the pinkie may not be of deku to begin with, the doctor pretty much had the run of the hospital he could be using the same x-ray for multiple children that he is stealing quirks from and unless the break their toe there is no reason to x-ray the foot again so it would just be part of the medical file. It would be interesting if he had a pyrokenisis ability ,one theory about deku that I ascribe to though is that he has both all for one and one for all since the original stockpiling quirk collects quirks that it has shared a body with it. Weird question do you think if suneater became a cannibal like moonfish that he could manifest the quirks of the people he eats almost like a pseudo afo?
There is no scientific basis for that in the first place. For example, the is a fire arm muscle that only 30% of people have. This sort of thing happens all the time. I should know, I've studied biology
@@childoflight9084 the toe thing is that there is an in universe correlation between lack of a second joint in the little toes and having a quirk. Who cares about real life science when stuff like stars and stripes exist, a correlation of certain physical traits means this behaviour or ability more often than not is everywhere in biology.
If All might and Deku are considered the perfect vessels for “one for all” because they were born quirkless. Deku being born with a quirk and having it taken away may mean he wasn’t a blank slate but actually have piece of him missing for “one for all” to fill. This would mean he’d be able to make it part of himself in a way all might never could, might be why he’s able to wield the powers of previous users. All for one, by taking Deku’s quirk may have made the most powerful version of “one for all” possible and therefor caused his own demise.
I mean it makes sense when you think about it because I still find it wierd that after the doctors appoitment Inko was apologizing to Deku about him being quirkless instead of reasuring him or something else like I know my mother would do. So, after everything that we learned and now seen it could be that shes apologizing about having his original quirk being taken away for his and everyones safety but also taking his dreams away from him seeing how excited he is to be a hero like All Might.
I feel like it would have been hinted towards that Deku's original quirk was decay, because if you remember what AFO said: "When he steals a quirk he also steals a piece of the original users soul" meaning that if he then transferred that quirk to Shigaraki then he would start having dreams of Deku fighting him to return to its original user i.e. Deku. but this could also be looked over due to the fact that Deku was just a baby, seeing as we don't know if the people living inside quirks age along with their physical bodies or not, so Shigaraki might have never known about Deku. although it would be pretty funny to find out that Shigaraki never gets sleep because he keeps having a dream of a crying baby.
The explanation afo gave was that it’s similar to organ transplants. People who have them might suddenly have different preferences or personality changes. The quirks will seemingly have part of their original owners consciousness imprinted on them, this probably happens over time as the person grows with the quirk in their possession. That explanation could be tweaked a bit since it’s a fictional manga and the concept itself is abstract, but in no way does he steal god damn souls

I like the idea that in grooming Shigaraki to be his successor, AFO inadvertently also groomed his downfall. The BBEG in all his endless planning accidentally made the hero to defeat him.
AFO already knew that a quirkless body would house him better, so he(and the Dr) was looking for quirk less candidates already when Deku was a child. I think Deku was always quirkless and that people are making something way more complicated than it is. Mind you it's totally founded considering AFO's crazy long term strategy, planning and contingencies.
I feel like since the Dr was tasked with helping afo with stealing the quirks from kids and finding suitable vessels for afo couldn't it be possible that with deku being quirkless afo was watching grooming deku from afar as a vessel, in the same twisted way shigaraki was traumatized by his upbringing which made him hate heros but fueled his desire to be a villain but for deku his deep desire to be a hero could have pushed him to a state of brokeness to the point where he would do anything to achieve his goal which would ultimately make him the perfect vessel for afo, it just so happened that ofa intervened before afo could let his plan take root.
I feel like him also being born with a quirk would have affected one for all, since all might was the only quirkless user he was able to use it right away but if deku had been born with a quirk his body would have had more trouble adjusting to it

It would make more sense for Deku's original quirk to be regeneration (thematically, it is the opposite of Shigaraki's Decay. Logically, it better fits Deku's relentless/self-destructive personality, and a character's personality tends to reflect their quirk - and a regenerator would have no natural sense of self-preservation).
It does make sense because through out the show we were shown that people with elementel quirk have a resistance to there quirk but Shigaraki doesn't have resistance to decay since he gets hurt every time he uses his quirk and it has side effects on his body that why his skin turned yellow 🤔

I don’t think decay is a single quirk. If Deku had a quirk, I think AFO took it from Deku and mixed it with another quirk. Decay doesn’t make sense as Deku’s quirk evolution of fire breath(father) and small object attraction(mother). It also doesn’t make sense, as we currently know, for Tomura to have been born with decay. The only quirk trait we know of from his family is Float, but we also don’t see any other family members use quirks. Which doesn’t mean much except for the fact that no one else showed any sign of having a destructive power like decay. It’s also important to note that there have been multiple instances where AFO liked to combine quirks to make new ones. I think Tomura and Deku had quirks, but AFO stole Deku’s and gave it to Tomura which combined into Decay. This would show a lot of symbolism between these 2 chapters and AFO and his brother.
The general idea here is Quirk Singularity, where a wild mutation happens and the child gets a Quirk nothing like their parents’… Eri was listed as an example.
@@Candoran true, but we don’t know how different her power is from her parents and we don’t really have other examples to demonstrate how much different a quirk mutation is from their parents. My thought is that Eri’s power is very different from her parents. It’s it like combining fire and ice to make explosions, which would be very different From parents having each of those. Or is it fire and ice to make gold?
There is one thing that doesn't make sense to me: If Deku did originally have a quirk, why would it be decay? I don't think Ujiko lied that children would inherit one of the parents quirks or a combined variation. That would mean that Deku would get fire breath, levitation, or some combined power, like pyrokinesis. Decay doesn't make sense, even if QS (quirk singularity) could apply in this situation. And if by some chance this is true, I don't think they would know. Most Quirks don't manifest like the shining child so early on. And i don't think deku's dad is dead since trauma of that magnitude would be very hard to hide forever, unless the traumatized goes through a mental breakdown and locks all memories of her husband away, but I don't think that is the case. Let me know what you think. I wrote this about halfway through the video so a lot of this is repeats, but I think it is neccessary.
Eri’s quirk is entirely different from either of her parents’ quirks… it’s the Quirk Singularity concept- a mutation sends the child’s Quirk off in a whole new direction and makes it more powerful.

There's a *very* small window, but it is technically possible, we just know Tomura was five when his quirk manifested, not how soon after he was five he manifested it. Could've been several months afterward, AFO steals Decay from Midoriya as a baby, then gives it to Tomura.
I love going down the rabbit hole of theories. I always imagined Deku's parents' quirks could form Decay just based off of the reaction fire and oxygen have. This may be a reach as far as head cannon goes but I think it's still a form of pyrokinesis. If you add the telekinetic aspect to fire as it responds to air the user's ability would ignite the oxygen in a person which would cause cell death on an atomic level. Essentially, they would rapidly decay.
I think I’d roll with this one if you mentioned how old deli actually was when his situation occurred, I believe you mentioned shigaraki being 5 so it’s hard to tell, but would probably give clarity.
What if Deku accidentally killed his dad by manifesting decay, his mom saw what happened and after AFO offered her help with removing his quirk she asked AFO to also remove Deku's memory of it ever happening. This would explain why after almost 400 chapters we haven't seen his father yet
It would work really well with giving call backs to Shoto’s and Deku’s coliseum fight, giving Shoto the chance to beat Deku in a way but also help Deku in the same way Deku helped him realize that no power is inherently evil
To everyone saying that the ages make it not possible, not quite Tomura was 20 when first introduced with a birthday of April 4th. Midoriya is 15 when he enters U.A. with a birthday of July 15th. They are roughly five years apart, not six (as some have claimed). We don't know how soon after Tomura's fifth birthday he develops Decay, so it could've been several months later. Also, I find it likely that even before a quirk manifests, the DNA and quirk are likely still there, just not activated. It would make little sense for a quirk to just pop into existence when a child is around four, so I find it much more likely a quirk already exists when a child is born (shown with the glowing baby, mutation-type quirks, and Present Mic who started screaming with his quirk after being born), just not yet activated. Using this logic, AFO could steal quirks either shortly after they appear, or even before they manifest entirely. It is entirely possible Midoriya was born and had to be checked up by doctors and nurses for whatever reason (say a complication with his birth) right after he was born. Dr. Garaki sees baby Midoriya possibly decay something and realizes this is a quirk that could be given to Tenko for the plan. Contacts AFO, sneaks him in with Kurogiri (Kurogiri should be around by now I believe), steals Decay, and leaves. AFO tracks down young Tenko when he's lost, hands over Decay after returning him home, and the rest is history.
If Deku's original quirk was decay then it is possible that decay might not work on him as his body will be immune of it like shigarki body is immune of it.

I have a theory that Deku has had a quirk all this time but just like the first user it was useless until combined with another. I believe Deku has the ability to speak with spirits but only when he is connected to them. The spirit world we see is the manifestation of this, as we see the room develop and his ability to interact with it increase that’s him getting more and more used to it. That’s why he was the best fit for the user because he can make the most of all the quirks. All Mights not in the room because he is still alive and his spirit is with him, but I think there would be a moment that Deku could communicate the room with him and he can talk to his master. Deku seems to be the only one aware of the spirit worlds, if my memory is correct All for One never refers to the battle they have, just that OfA rejected him. Shigaraki says the quirks were revolting against him but that could be a response to them not working. The bittersweet moment would be the realisation of this and Deku dying early and not beating the curse of the quirk.
Personal theory based off this and AFO possibly being Deku’s dad. If AFO is Deku’s father the toe joint thing might be legit given that AFO is from the first generation (before that evolutionary trait occurred). Given how AFO is becoming desperate to have his ambition of world domination live on through his quirk factor (and Tomura’s rebellion against the idea and just wanting world destruction), AFO will fail to transfer his quirk factor to Tomura, and try to transfer it to Deku. Since AFO is known for his mind games, he might reveal that he is Deku’s father to throw Deku off guard long enough to transfer his quirk factor. Thus gaining OFA not by force, but through trickery. Although we all know Deku’s heroic heart will overpower AFO’s ambitions, Deku may become a Quirk God that saves the world
Does the age between Deku and Shigaraki make sense for this Theory to hold weight? Shigaraki is 21 and Deku is 15 roughly 6 years. Shigaraki manifested Decay at 5 years old. There is a STRONG possibility that Deku wasn't even born yet
I've always believe Deku's real quirk would have been one to produce his own and control all sources of fire, a mix of his parents' quirks. Yet I am glad Deku such a top tier one and trained hard to master it, despite being years behind others
That would be interesting. The manga did mention somewhere, in the story, that quirks associated with fire are commonplace. As one of the few who dived into the thought of what Deku's original quirk could be, I believed Deku could absorb thermal energy through his hands and release said energy into a Kamehameha-style attack.
Honestly, the detail that seems the most compelling is the idea that Deku's parents might have begged All for One to remove Deku's quirk. Assuming the truth of the theory, this puts the story of Deku crying with the desire to be a hero into a very cruel new perspective to further parallel Shigaraki's: while Shigaraki's father reviled his dreams of being a hero and beat him senselessly for them, Deku's mother would have pleaded for a similar fate out of love and shouldered that secret while her son sunk into despair due to her decision.
This theory doesn't work very well. Midoria was 4 when he was told he was quirkless and Shigaraki manifested his quirk when he was 5. There is a ~5 year age gap between them. This means that Midoria's quirk would of had to of been stolen the day he was born and transfered to Shigiraki in less than a year. The theory is possible, but it it would require AfO to be watching either the Izuku family or monitoring the hospital for powerful quirks. Unless Midoria was born with his quirk manifested (which would most likely kill his mother and the doctors) I don't see this being the case. Would be cool if I'm wrong though.
It wouldn't surprise me if deku had a quirk originally and it was stolen, I have been saying that since season 1 (I have text message proof) but I would have guessed it was a healing quirk hence why deku always puts his body under so much stress (because his body somehow knows it originally had a healing quirk)
I actually like this idea, but someone else’s reasonings for why his quirk might have been decay also peaks my interest. Their theory is based off of his father possibly having a flame quirk.
Two notes. One, though less likely, that supports izuku’s quirk being stolen and the other that is how we’d probably find out. First in the first episode Izuku’s mom cries saying she’s sorry when he asks if he can still become a hero. I mean yes she could just feel bad but it’s possible she feels responsible even for asking AFO to take it. Second note actually comes from Toya Todoroki and Aoyama. They spent a lot of time saying their body wasn’t made to hold their quirks. One because of genetics, the other cause it wasn’t his quirk. They explain with Toya that even though his quirk doesn’t come with ice powers he’s resistant. Which gave me an idea. We see this again with Tenko he’s itchy and getting rashes which only started after his quirk manifested if I remember correctly. Perhaps like the others your body gaining full resilience doesn’t always come with the power like in Aiyana’s case. Putting these points together what if in the next chapter Shigaraki touches Deku and it doesn’t work. Because Deku’s body though no longer holding decay still has the resistance to his own quirk. Because it’s we’ll known most quirk users have resistance to their own power otherwise in Shigaraki’s case he’d decay as soon as his quirk activated that day. Because decay resistance would obviously come with decay. Just a thought.
However, All for One has the same power as Deku’s mom, which suggests that it’s Deku’s power. If All for One never took Deku’s power he wouldn’t have been a candidate for One for All because the power needs an empty vessel to reach its full potential. But if the reason Shigaraki has skin rashes is because he’s not fully resistant to decay that could be a sign that the quirk was given to him by someone else. If Deku ends up being resistant to decay then it was his.
Don't forget that AFO and Ujiko can also combine multiple quirks into one. To me, at least, a Fire Manipulation [think of Fire Bending on Natsu's Fire] quirk makes the most sense.
We still don’t know how they “duplicated” the All for One quirk (or any quirk), just that it is hard and takes a long time. I’m sticking to All For One is Deku’s dad, Deku was born with the copy of the All for One quirk that is currently being used by All for One himself
I don't like saying shiggy got dekus quirk, shiggy was quirkless and deku had his quirk stolen as separate thing works in my mind... But you have to think deku originally had mutated quirk (a quirk that is nothing like his parents) and he had it stolen and given to his eventual archenemy. Too much
Can’t wait to see when this is revealed and deku finds out he killed his dad with it and that’s why he’s not around. From there his mom frantically looks for a doctor to remove his quirk and finds all for one’s guy
Or maybe decay wasn't Deku's quirk but he had a quirk that was essential for AFO's plans to pass on his quick perfectly and that's why the AFO stole it, deku quirk might be something capable of influencing other quirks just like Eraser eye but some other way like enhancement effects on quirks or something and Deku being able to harness all dormant quirks is because his DNA still has information on it which slowly took effect as Deku better integrated one for all. If we are scrutinizing all coincidences then it might not a coincidence that Deku was a perfect vessel for one for all and somebody else even as the last user might not be able to wield one for all as well as him.
Do we get an explanation on what "Decay" actually does? Like how it works specifically. Because you could say that "pulling small objects toward you" could break molecular bonds by pulling atoms away and cause rapid decay. That sounds like a quirk singularity moment if the doctor saw that under a microscope. @animeuproar
There was also a Nomu in Hosu who absorbed a fired attack and was going to blast it back out it's mouth. Attracting the fire into itself to breath it back.... another possible quirk Izuku could have had.
I always liked the idea that dekus quirk was simply the ability to control (not create) fire. And that it was actually given to dabi. Or that it was really weak. Like the ability to control a lighter flame or something. But this was foreshadowed by the both the cavalry battle and actual battle with todoroki.
No sure if it ties in but rewatching the anime I remember the doctor telling All for One that he wished they had super regeneration sooner (may have mentioned 5 years) or at least that’s how long it’s been since he needed it after the first All Might fight. Maybe they got it from someone important too

I've always thought that theroy was very valid and maybe that's why OFA manifested in Deku the way it did was because he had a "quirk body" with no quirk. All Might was completely quirkless that's why he only got the strength his body I wasn't made for a quirk.
That theory really doesn't make sense, because shigarki is 21 years old and deku is 17. In anime, when her mother and he go to check the quirk of deku, at that time, deku must be 3 or 4. Therefore, Afo takes quirk from 4 years old deku. But at that same time, shigaraki must be 8 years old. But as we see, when shigaraki showed decay for the first time, he was five years old. How is this possible?
Doesn't work as Izuku would have been an infant when Tenko's quirk awakened. Decay would also be a mutation quirk like Eri's Rewind as neither Inko's or Hisashi's quirks would have been a part of it. Also AFO woudln't have known what the quirk was until he took it from Izuku at his birth or shortly after as he only just acquired search from Ragdoll after the Wilderness Training Arc.
He ain’t getting it wouldn’t make sense since I’f she rewinded him he would be rewinded back till he was like 5 or younger and 5 year old deku gets slammed even then he’d die sooner

Another theory to complete all of this is that AFO is actually Deku's father. People are thinking that Deku's can handle OFA quirk because he's quirkless, but imagine that it's because he's AFO son.
What if deku's quirk might be something like a quirk that analyzed others or accelerated thinking since all the quirks in MHA often fits the characters personality in deku's case his personality is often about analysis or thinking
If Deku originally had a quirk that would mean he could only use OFA for a short time like the users before All Might. His body would've been made to suit the quirk he was born with, which means after the quirk is taken, his body is still the same- quirk or not. And since Deku seems like he's doing great with OFA just like All Might did who was born quirkless, that tells us Deku was originally quirkless as well. which essentially means this theory doesn't make any sense :P
I don't think him being born with a Quirk wold necessarily make him unable to use OFA. I've always thought about this, but it's possible that if a person lost their QUirk or had it taken before it manifests, they're body might not have the adaptations necessary for it. As we know, QUirks are genetic, they're derived from parts of a person's DNA, and AFO can absorb those specific parts of a person's DNA to steal their Quirks. We also know that people's bodies develop adaptations to be able to use their Quirks without suffering injury, but do they have these adaptations from the moment they're born, or do they come after they've manifested their Quirk? If it's the former, then yeah, OFA would likely still kill a person even if they had their Quirk taken, but if they only develop after Quirk manifestation, then it's possible that a person would never develop those natural adaptations to they're Quirk if it is stolen before it manifests. If that's the case, then impossible Deku could have been the original holder of Decay, and it was stolen by AFO. Highly unlikely chance, but it never hurts to theorize.
Cool theory, but sadly I don't see it happening since we're in the final run, and to reveal that Deku's quirk was originally decay wouldn't do much for the story since, again, we're nearing the end and I just don't see it doing much.
Decay wasn't the only quirk originaly, it had restorion with it too, it's was mentioned in the anime by AFO, he removed restoration when passing it to Tenko
When the story literally told us he didn't have a quirk but you don't believe it It's also literally stated that 1 for all can't be used by someone with their own quirk. The other powers wouldn't manifest plane in simple.
OFA can absolutely be used by someone with a Quirk, most of the OFA users had Quirks of their own, that’s how those Quirks got assimilated into OFA for Deku to use later. The reason Deku is the first to be able to access those other Quirks has nothing to do with him having or not having a Quirk, it’s just a matter of OFA getting more and more powerful over generations. Besides, the STORY didn’t tell us that Deku has no Quirk, FUJIKO told us that and we have no reason to believe a guy like him who likes to help AFO steal Quirks. And to be clear, Deku still had no Quirk when he was given OFA- doesn’t really matter how that happened, the point is that he doesn’t have one now so he can safely use OFA without shortening his life.

You know it makes sense if you think about it. Also i have another idea that is based on nothing but observation of the story and nothingelse. So Deku's dad is "missing"; his mom has a dark secret that might be finding the quirk stealing doctor; taking the decay quirk that killed Deku's dad to and finally making Deku forget this whole event took place. Heck his mom my honest guess knows what she allowed to happen to Deku.
We've never seen him give children a quirk and remember what all might gave deku his, it took a while and didn't manifest immediately until he tried it at the entrance and he had studied that very same power all his life, meanwhile an abused pushed down pent up tenko suddenly exploded, also the itching was a manifestation of it on his body which wouldn't happen if his body was supposed to have it

I thought the past users strongly said that only a quirkless can use the full potential of one for all so deku having a quirk even if it got stolen from early age doesn't change the fact he had a quirk. He shouldn't be able to be a perfect vessel for one for all and use the full potential of one for all but rather experience the side effects like rapid aging experience by the past users

Better idea, what if it was not actually Deku's x ray? What if it was a different quirkless kid like Aoyama's X-ray? After all, with the broken bones Deku had, he should have had numorous X rays on his foot, and another Doctor would have commented on it. Especially since he was at UA. Also, why has none noticed that Aoyama has 2 joints in the Pinky toe, and yet still has a quirk? When Aoyama got his quirk, did they take out a joint as well to keep the lie up?

If Decay belonged to Deku originally, it would be interesting if it turns out that Decay has no effect on him.
Idea: AFO can only steal the power's of the quirks, not the roots of it (Say he steals a hardening quirk, he gains the ability, but the Dna allowing you to harden is still there) this would go well with the AFO stole Deku's quirk & it's decay, due to the fact that Shigaraki is immune to the effects of decay, meaning decay would also have no effect against Deku as his body would still have the Dna to be immune to it.

Fire is the result of the "decay" of fuels into energy, typically by breaking the molecular bonds with some force(energy). And telekinesis is applying force (energy), to something causing it to move.
Decay could be a natural combo of both, combining dads ability to break bonds at a touch, and moms ability to apply force at a distance.

The theory that Decay was Deku's original quirk and that he accidentally killed his father with it is interesting, because we know the only way to steal One For All is to break the current user's will. And we know that All For One thinks pretty far ahead with several contingences for his plans to reach his desired outcome. So if Decay was originally Deku's then All For One could have groomed not only Shigaraki but also Deku, because I'm positive that All For One would anticipate that All Might would try to pass on One For All to a Quirkless individual. So setting up Shigaraki as the new villian and Deku as the new potential inheritor of One For All could be part of a long play to try and break Deku's will with the shock that he killed his own father and that his original quirk was used to make Shigaraki into the villian.

To be honest this theory falls apart as soon as you realize the age gap between Izuku and Shigaraki. As Izuku is currently 16 while Shigaraki is about 5 years older than him which puts him at 21. Meaning by the time Shigaraki awakened decay Izuku wasn’t even born yet/was just born which means theres no way that the quirk: Decay could have ever belonged to Izuku.
On top of that we know when AFO takes someones quirk it leaves them in a temporary comatose like state which happened to rag doll in season 2-3 and katsuma’s father when Nine took his quirk. So how would Izuku’s mother not notice that her child is in a coma and when would AFO even have the chance to be near Izuku in such a public space? Plus most children usually discover their quirk before they go to the doctor based on what we’ve seen. On top of that Why would AFO need a fire quirk from Izuku when he has dabi (the strongest fire user) at the palm of his hand?
Unless something else is stated this theory already falls apart as theres too many plot holes for it to work. Unless someone can give another point of view.

The x-ray of the pinkie may not be of deku to begin with, the doctor pretty much had the run of the hospital he could be using the same x-ray for multiple children that he is stealing quirks from and unless the break their toe there is no reason to x-ray the foot again so it would just be part of the medical file. It would be interesting if he had a pyrokenisis ability ,one theory about deku that I ascribe to though is that he has both all for one and one for all since the original stockpiling quirk collects quirks that it has shared a body with it. Who cares about real life science when stuff like stars and stripes exist, a correlation of certain physical traits means this behaviour or ability more often than not is everywhere in biology.
If All might and Deku are considered the perfect vessels for “one for all” because they were born quirkless. Deku being born with a quirk and having it taken away may mean he wasn’t a blank slate but actually have piece of him missing for “one for all” to fill. This would mean he’d be able to make it part of himself in a way all might never could, might be why he’s able to wield the powers of previous users. All for one, by taking Deku’s quirk may have made the most powerful version of “one for all” possible and therefor caused his own demise.
I mean it makes sense when you think about it because I still find it wierd that after the doctors appoitment Inko was apologizing to Deku about him being quirkless instead of reasuring him or something else like I know my mother would do. So, after everything that we learned and now seen it could be that shes apologizing about having his original quirk being taken away for his and everyones safety but also taking his dreams away from him seeing how excited he is to be a hero like All Might.

I feel like it would have been hinted towards that Deku's original quirk was decay, because if you remember what AFO said: "When he steals a quirk he also steals a piece of the original users soul" meaning that if he then transferred that quirk to Shigaraki then he would start having dreams of Deku fighting him to return to its original user i.e. Deku. but this could also be looked over due to the fact that Deku was just a baby, seeing as we don't know if the people living inside quirks age along with their physical bodies or not, so Shigaraki might have never known about Deku. although it would be pretty funny to find out that Shigaraki never gets sleep because he keeps having a dream of a crying baby.

The explanation afo gave was that it’s similar to organ transplants. People who have them might suddenly have different preferences or personality changes. The quirks will seemingly have part of their original owners consciousness imprinted on them, this probably happens over time as the person grows with the quirk in their possession. That explanation could be tweaked a bit since it’s a fictional manga and the concept itself is abstract, but in no way does he steal god damn souls

I like the idea that in grooming Shigaraki to be his successor, AFO inadvertently also groomed his downfall. The BBEG in all his endless planning accidentally made the hero to defeat him.
AFO already knew that a quirkless body would house him better, so he(and the Dr) was looking for quirk less candidates already when Deku was a child. I think Deku was always quirkless and that people are making something way more complicated than it is. Mind you it's totally founded considering AFO's crazy long term strategy, planning and contingencies.
I feel like since the Dr was tasked with helping afo with stealing the quirks from kids and finding suitable vessels for afo couldn't it be possible that with deku being quirkless afo was watching grooming deku from afar as a vessel, in the same twisted way shigaraki was traumatized by his upbringing which made him hate heros but fueled his desire to be a villain but for deku his deep desire to be a hero could have pushed him to a state of brokeness to the point where he would do anything to achieve his goal which would ultimately make him the perfect vessel for afo, it just so happened that ofa intervened before afo could let his plan take root.

The 4th user still used OFA for 18 years before dying. That said, if Deku lost his quirk before inheriting OFA, it's like being quirkless anyway.

It would make more sense for Deku's original quirk to be regeneration (thematically, it is the opposite of Shigaraki's Decay. Logically, it better fits Deku's relentless/self-destructive personality, and a character's personality tends to reflect their quirk - and a regenerator would have no natural sense of self-preservation).

I don’t think decay is a single quirk. If Deku had a quirk, I think AFO took it from Deku and mixed it with another quirk. Decay doesn’t make sense as Deku’s quirk evolution of fire breath(father) and small object attraction(mother).
It also doesn’t make sense, as we currently know, for Tomura to have been born with decay. The only quirk trait we know of from his family is Float, but we also don’t see any other family members use quirks. Which doesn’t mean much except for the fact that no one else showed any sign of having a destructive power like decay.
It’s also important to note that there have been multiple instances where AFO liked to combine quirks to make new ones. I think Tomura and Deku had quirks, but AFO stole Deku’s and gave it to Tomura which combined into Decay. This would show a lot of symbolism between these 2 chapters and AFO and his brother.
The general idea here is Quirk Singularity, where a wild mutation happens and the child gets a Quirk nothing like their parents’… Eri was listed as an example.

There is one thing that doesn't make sense to me: If Deku did originally have a quirk, why would it be decay? I don't think Ujiko lied that children would inherit one of the parents quirks or a combined variation. That would mean that Deku would get fire breath, levitation, or some combined power, like pyrokinesis. Decay doesn't make sense, even if QS (quirk singularity) could apply in this situation. And if by some chance this is true, I don't think they would know. Most Quirks don't manifest like the shining child so early on. And i don't think deku's dad is dead since trauma of that magnitude would be very hard to hide forever, unless the traumatized goes through a mental breakdown and locks all memories of her husband away, but I don't think that is the case. Let me know what you think. I wrote this about halfway through the video so a lot of this is repeats, but I think it is neccessary.
Eri’s quirk is entirely different from either of her parents’ quirks… it’s the Quirk Singularity concept- a mutation sends the child’s Quirk off in a whole new direction and makes it more powerful.

There's a *very* small window, but it is technically possible, we just know Tomura was five when his quirk manifested, not how soon after he was five he manifested it. Could've been several months afterward, AFO steals Decay from Midoriya as a baby, then gives it to Tomura.
I love going down the rabbit hole of theories. I always imagined Deku's parents' quirks could form Decay just based off of the reaction fire and oxygen have. This may be a reach as far as head cannon goes but I think it's still a form of pyrokinesis. If you add the telekinetic aspect to fire as it responds to air the user's ability would ignite the oxygen in a person which would cause cell death on an atomic level. Essentially, they would rapidly decay.
I think I’d roll with this one if you mentioned how old deli actually was when his situation occurred, I believe you mentioned shigaraki being 5 so it’s hard to tell, but would probably give clarity.
What if Deku accidentally killed his dad by manifesting decay, his mom saw what happened and after AFO offered her help with removing his quirk she asked AFO to also remove Deku's memory of it ever happening. This would explain why after almost 400 chapters we haven't seen his father yet

They are roughly five years apart, not six (as some have claimed). We don't know how soon after Tomura's fifth birthday he develops Decay, so it could've been several months later. Also, I find it likely that even before a quirk manifests, the DNA and quirk are likely still there, just not activated. It would make little sense for a quirk to just pop into existence when a child is around four, so I find it much more likely a quirk already exists when a child is born (shown with the glowing baby, mutation-type quirks, and Present Mic who started screaming with his quirk after being born), just not yet activated. Using this logic, AFO could steal quirks either shortly after they appear, or even before they manifest entirely.
It is entirely possible Midoriya was born and had to be checked up by doctors and nurses for whatever reason (say a complication with his birth) right after he was born. Dr. Garaki sees baby Midoriya possibly decay something and realizes this is a quirk that could be given to Tenko for the plan. Contacts AFO, sneaks him in with Kurogiri (Kurogiri should be around by now I believe), steals Decay, and leaves.
AFO tracks down young Tenko when he's lost, hands over Decay after returning him home, and the rest is history.
If Deku's original quirk was decay then it is possible that decay might not work on him as his body will be immune of it like shigarki body is immune of it.

I have a theory that Deku has had a quirk all this time but just like the first user it was useless until combined with another. I believe Deku has the ability to speak with spirits but only when he is connected to them. The spirit world we see is the manifestation of this, as we see the room develop and his ability to interact with it increase that’s him getting more and more used to it. That’s why he was the best fit for the user because he can make the most of all the quirks. All Mights not in the room because he is still alive and his spirit is with him, but I think there would be a moment that Deku could communicate the room with him and he can talk to his master. Deku seems to be the only one aware of the spirit worlds, if my memory is correct All for One never refers to the battle they have, just that OfA rejected him. Shigaraki says the quirks were revolting against him but that could be a response to them not working.
The bittersweet moment would be the realisation of this and Deku dying early and not beating the curse of the quirk.

Personal theory based off this and AFO possibly being Deku’s dad. If AFO is Deku’s father the toe joint thing might be legit given that AFO is from the first generation (before that evolutionary trait occurred). Given how AFO is becoming desperate to have his ambition of world domination live on through his quirk factor (and Tomura’s rebellion against the idea and just wanting world destruction), AFO will fail to transfer his quirk factor to Tomura, and try to transfer it to Deku. Since AFO is known for his mind games, he might reveal that he is Deku’s father to throw Deku off guard long enough to transfer his quirk factor. Thus gaining OFA not by force, but through trickery. Does the age between Deku and Shigaraki make sense for this Theory to hold weight? Shigaraki is 21 and Deku is 15 roughly 6 years. Shigaraki manifested Decay at 5 years old. There is a STRONG possibility that Deku wasn't even born yet
I've always believe Deku's real quirk would have been one to produce his own and control all sources of fire, a mix of his parents' quirks.
Yet I am glad Deku such a top tier one and trained hard to master it, despite being years behind others
That would be interesting. The manga did mention somewhere, in the story, that quirks associated with fire are commonplace. As one of the few who dived into the thought of what Deku's original quirk could be, I believed Deku could absorb thermal energy through his hands and release said energy into a Kamehameha-style attack.
So, Deku's the Benimaru Shinmon of MHA then?
Honestly, the detail that seems the most compelling is the idea that Deku's parents might have begged All for One to remove Deku's quirk. Assuming the truth of the theory, this puts the story of Deku crying with the desire to be a hero into a very cruel new perspective to further parallel Shigaraki's: while Shigaraki's father reviled his dreams of being a hero and beat him senselessly for them, Deku's mother would have pleaded for a similar fate out of love and shouldered that secret while her son sunk into despair due to her decision.

This theory doesn't work very well. Midoria was 4 when he was told he was quirkless and Shigaraki manifested his quirk when he was 5. There is a ~5 year age gap between them. This means that Midoria's quirk would of had to of been stolen the day he was born and transfered to Shigiraki in less than a year. The theory is possible, but it it would require AfO to be watching either the Izuku family or monitoring the hospital for powerful quirks. Unless Midoria was born with his quirk manifested (which would most likely kill his mother and the doctors) I don't see this being the case.
Would be cool if I'm wrong though.
It wouldn't surprise me if deku had a quirk originally and it was stolen, I have been saying that since season 1 (I have text message proof) but I would have guessed it was a healing quirk hence why deku always puts his body under so much stress (because his body somehow knows it originally had a healing quirk)

I actually like this idea, but someone else’s reasonings for why his quirk might have been decay also peaks my interest. Their theory is based off of his father possibly having a flame quirk.
Two notes. One, though less likely, that supports izuku’s quirk being stolen and the other that is how we’d probably find out. First in the first episode Izuku’s mom cries saying she’s sorry when he asks if he can still become a hero. I mean yes she could just feel bad but it’s possible she feels responsible even for asking AFO to take it.
Second note actually comes from Toya Todoroki and Aoyama. They spent a lot of time saying their body wasn’t made to hold their quirks. One because of genetics, the other cause it wasn’t his quirk. They explain with Toya that even though his quirk doesn’t come with ice powers he’s resistant. Which gave me an idea.
We see this again with Tenko he’s itchy and getting rashes which only started after his quirk manifested if I remember correctly. Perhaps like the others your body gaining full resilience doesn’t always come with the power like in Aiyana’s case.
Putting these points together what if in the next chapter Shigaraki touches Deku and it doesn’t work. Because Deku’s body though no longer holding decay still has the resistance to his own quirk. Because it’s we’ll known most quirk users have resistance to their own power otherwise in Shigaraki’s case he’d decay as soon as his quirk activated that day. Because decay resistance would obviously come with decay.
Just a thought.
However, All for One has the same power as Deku’s mom, which suggests that it’s Deku’s power. If All for One never took Deku’s power he wouldn’t have been a candidate for One for All because the power needs an empty vessel to reach its full potential. But if the reason Shigaraki has skin rashes is because he’s not fully resistant to decay that could be a sign that the quirk was given to him by someone else. If Deku ends up being resistant to decay then it was his.
This would be funny considering Shiggy is the grandson of the 7th but he would have Deku's quirk, and Deku has the 7th's quirk.
Don't forget that AFO and Ujiko can also combine multiple quirks into one. To me, at least, a Fire Manipulation [think of Fire Bending on Natsu's Fire] quirk makes the most sense.
We still don’t know how they “duplicated” the All for One quirk (or any quirk), just that it is hard and takes a long time. I’m sticking to All For One is Deku’s dad, Deku was born with the copy of the All for One quirk that is currently being used by All for One himself

I don't like saying shiggy got dekus quirk, shiggy was quirkless and deku had his quirk stolen as separate thing works in my mind... But you have to think deku originally had mutated quirk (a quirk that is nothing like his parents) and he had it stolen and given to his eventual archenemy. Too much
Can’t wait to see when this is revealed and deku finds out he killed his dad with it and that’s why he’s not around. From there his mom frantically looks for a doctor to remove his quirk and finds all for one’s guy
It won’t, Shigaraki is six years older than Midoriya, and he developed Decay a full year before Midoriya was even born.

Or maybe decay wasn't Deku's quirk but he had a quirk that was essential for AFO's plans to pass on his quick perfectly and that's why the AFO stole it, deku quirk might be something capable of influencing other quirks just like Eraser eye but some other way like enhancement effects on quirks or something and Deku being able to harness all dormant quirks is because his DNA still has information on it which slowly took effect as Deku better integrated one for all. If we are scrutinizing all coincidences then it might not a coincidence that Deku was a perfect vessel for one for all and somebody else even as the last user might not be able to wield one for all as well as him.
The issue with this is that when Tenko was five Deku was either just born or due in a couple of months
Do we get an explanation on what "Decay" actually does? Like how it works specifically. Because you could say that "pulling small objects toward you" could break molecular bonds by pulling atoms away and cause rapid decay. That sounds like a quirk singularity moment if the doctor saw that under a microscope. @animeuproar
There was also a Nomu in Hosu who absorbed a fired attack and was going to blast it back out it's mouth. Attracting the fire into itself to breath it back.... another possible quirk Izuku could have had.
True. Decay is the most popular theory for his real quirk, but it doesn't have to be decay. It could be something like that.
I always liked the idea that dekus quirk was simply the ability to control (not create) fire. And that it was actually given to dabi. Or that it was really weak. Like the ability to control a lighter flame or something. But this was foreshadowed by the both the cavalry battle and actual battle with todoroki.
No sure if it ties in but rewatching the anime I remember the doctor telling All for One that he wished they had super regeneration sooner (may have mentioned 5 years) or at least that’s how long it’s been since he needed it after the first All Might fight. Maybe they got it from someone important too

I've always thought that theroy was very valid and maybe that's why OFA manifested in Deku the way it did was because he had a "quirk body" with no quirk. All Might was completely quirkless that's why he only got the strength his body I wasn't made for a quirk.
That theory really doesn't make sense, because shigarki is 21 years old and deku is 17. In anime, when her mother and he go to check the quirk of deku, at that time, deku must be 3 or 4. Therefore, Afo takes quirk from 4 years old deku. But at that same time, shigaraki must be 8 years old. But as we see, when shigaraki showed decay for the first time, he was five years old. How is this possible?
Doesn't work as Izuku would have been an infant when Tenko's quirk awakened. Decay would also be a mutation quirk like Eri's Rewind as neither Inko's or Hisashi's quirks would have been a part of it. Also AFO woudln't have known what the quirk was until he took it from Izuku at his birth or shortly after as he only just acquired search from Ragdoll after the Wilderness Training Arc.

Another theory to complete all of this is that AFO is actually Deku's father.
People are thinking that Deku's can handle OFA quirk because he's quirkless, but imagine that it's because he's AFO son.
What if deku's quirk might be something like a quirk that analyzed others or accelerated thinking since all the quirks in MHA often fits the characters personality in deku's case his personality is often about analysis or thinking
If Deku originally had a quirk that would mean he could only use OFA for a short time like the users before All Might. His body would've been made to suit the quirk he was born with, which means after the quirk is taken, his body is still the same- quirk or not. And since Deku seems like he's doing great with OFA just like All Might did who was born quirkless, that tells us Deku was originally quirkless as well. which essentially means this theory doesn't make any sense :P
I don't think him being born with a Quirk wold necessarily make him unable to use OFA. I've always thought about this, but it's possible that if a person lost their QUirk or had it taken before it manifests, they're body might not have the adaptations necessary for it. As we know, QUirks are genetic, they're derived from parts of a person's DNA, and AFO can absorb those specific parts of a person's DNA to steal their Quirks. We also know that people's bodies develop adaptations to be able to use their Quirks without suffering injury, but do they have these adaptations from the moment they're born, or do they come after they've manifested their Quirk? If it's the former, then yeah, OFA would likely still kill a person even if they had their Quirk taken, but if they only develop after Quirk manifestation, then it's possible that a person would never develop those natural adaptations to they're Quirk if it is stolen before it manifests.
If that's the case, then impossible Deku could have been the original holder of Decay, and it was stolen by AFO. Highly unlikely chance, but it never hurts to theorize.
Cool theory, but sadly I don't see it happening since we're in the final run, and to reveal that Deku's quirk was originally decay wouldn't do much for the story since, again, we're nearing the end and I just don't see it doing much.
I still think that deku's quirkless, and decay is someone else's power.
Given that the Mangaka is an avid Star Wars fan, I’ve been theorizing for a while that it’s going to be revealed that One For All is his dad.
Decay wasn't the only quirk originaly, it had restorion with it too, it's was mentioned in the anime by AFO, he removed restoration when passing it to Tenko

When the story literally told us he didn't have a quirk but you don't believe it It's also literally stated that 1 for all can't be used by someone with their own quirk. The other powers wouldn't manifest plane in simple.
OFA can absolutely be used by someone with a Quirk, most of the OFA users had Quirks of their own, that’s how those Quirks got assimilated into OFA for Deku to use later. The reason Deku is the first to be able to access those other Quirks has nothing to do with him having or not having a Quirk, it’s just a matter of OFA getting more and more powerful over generations. Besides, the STORY didn’t tell us that Deku has no Quirk, FUJIKO told us that and we have no reason to believe a guy like him who likes to help AFO steal Quirks.
And to be clear, Deku still had no Quirk when he was given OFA- doesn’t really matter how that happened, the point is that he doesn’t have one now so he can safely use OFA without shortening his life.

I've been saying this for years. The timelines are too perfect. Deku HAD a quirk, an extremely strong one too, until AFO stole it

You know it makes sense if you think about it. Also i have another idea that is based on nothing but observation of the story and nothingelse. So Deku's dad is "missing"; his mom has a dark secret that might be finding the quirk stealing doctor; taking the decay quirk that killed Deku's dad to and finally making Deku forget this whole event took place. Heck his mom my honest guess knows what she allowed to happen to Deku.

We've never seen him give children a quirk and remember what all might gave deku his, it took a while and didn't manifest immediately until he tried it at the entrance and he had studied that very same power all his life, meanwhile an abused pushed down pent up tenko suddenly exploded, also the itching was a manifestation of it on his body which wouldn't happen if his body was supposed to have it

I thought the past users strongly said that only a quirkless can use the full potential of one for all so deku having a quirk even if it got stolen from early age doesn't change the fact he had a quirk. He shouldn't be able to be a perfect vessel for one for all and use the full potential of one for all but rather experience the side effects like rapid aging experience by the past users
It does change the fact. If his quirk was stolen, he was still quirkless when he inherited OFA.
@@AnimeUproar that depends on the context of what really is quirkless, if quirkless by birth or quirkless due to circumstances. We can make mirio as reference, he was able to get his quirk back thanks to Eri, since his genetical build still possible remains of his previous quirk which might allowed Eri to trace back his previous self.

I always thought if he had a quirk it'd be something I like to call "heatwave", which is the ability to create a cuncusive blast of heat or fire from his body, or something similar.
It's probably a stupid thought but it's what I like to believe.

i think i have a theory I think that AFO might have a quirk just like night eye which is less refined and all... All though more he might have do multiple calculations just like Lucius and have to go with the best possible outcome
