    For not being a mechanic I think you did a good job Richard. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your Family.

    Damned good job, it's starting now like when it first rolled off the production line, I've only just seen this second part and was going to sudgest the mystery wire was from the glow plug but realise you've sorted it. I would personally get the old starter reconditioned so you can keep it as a spare, I had one done recently for £60 so worth doing.

    Thanks for the video and good job. I watched it as a review, in that I haven't changed a started since about 2000 and that was on a MF 165. The one I'm doing today is a MF 265. Hope all is well for you and your family.

    Looks like you picked up on the one hint I was going to post to part 1: when the bolt is finger loose, but in a hard place to reach, set the ratchet head aside and use the extension and socket like a long nutdriver.

    Hi RichardThat black wire goes on to the flame heater, directly over the fuel lift pump.Its of no importance. Really enjoy your great channel

    Hi Rich you did just fine, from a mechanics point of view. You even got the reference to the ancient art of reproduction in a hot place for that 3rd bolt right in part 1 L.O.L. You'd be surprised at the amount of different 3 bolt starters I've changed over the years, where that back awkward bolts missing from a previous repair.
    I do some that need a short 3/8 drive socket, a universal joint adapter and 3 ft of extensions with the ratchet to get them out!.
    Thanks for all the great video's from the farm and home. I hope things go good at Christmas and into the new year to. Regards Robert

    always disconnect the earth cable first and reconnect last, if you touch a spanner between live and any metal work whilst the earth is still connected, it will heat the spanner up and blow the battery up!! maybe the wire is for the inlet manifold heater. best of luck you might need it in the coming months.

    Richard, check your fuel gauge as when you tried it the gauge didn't move, though you may be low on diesel !!

    Richard, By your own admission you may not be an expert but at least you are willing to get in there and have a go. As the old saying goes farmers are Jacks of all trades. We may not be masters of everything but we do get in there and have a go,
    Always enjoy your repair videos, Well Done. Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to you and your family.

    heater plug wire?

  • @navaraboy3000
    @navaraboy3000 7 років тому +1

    I think the spare wire is a earth that attaches to the fuel pump above the starter motor. In the first vid you can see it going upwards, it does go to the starter motor. I think yo pulled it out while pulling the other wires out the way.

    • @navaraboy3000
      @navaraboy3000 7 років тому +1

      It doesn't attach to the starter motor
