The worst part about Fusionfall stopping updates when it did was that MAD also premiered at the same time as Regular Show. If they just added Alfred E. Neuman into the game they could legally add pretty much any franchise they wanted since it would be part of the MAD universe.

      What about Mixels?!?
If they were in the game they would be amazing characters.

As someone who'd been into this community for about a decade now, this is probably the best video I've seen retrospecting the game. Very well done.

This is why I'm so happy about retribution. A revival that came after someone ratted out fusionfall retro. They've added a lot of new stuff and better graphics, they even added Larry 3000 in goats junkyard!

I was one of the Beta testers for the original game before it opened up to the public, and still play FusionFall from time to time today. Even still stay in contact with friends I have made in the game after all these years. There's something special about FusionFall that is unlike any other game I have ever played before. Probably the fact that we FusionFaller's are like a family, and help each other out even if we don't know one another. Shoutout to all the FusionFaller's out there. Love ya all. ❤

Part of the beauty of the game is as simple as it is, it feels like you have your own story in the Cartoon Network universe! And while the characters don’t do much beyond giving you missions, What they do with you (or the lore around their shows) is incorporated fantastically. As you mentioned, some of the villians task you with sabotaging each other. They Ed’s have some hare-brained slightly stupid schemes seemingly every time.

Fusionfall was such a cool concept, amazing in every way in my opinion and it inspired me in so many ways that, looking back at it, shaped a big part of me. I was only 6 when it released but i swear watching the trailers changed my brain chemistry like i could NOT stop watching and waiting for it to finally come out. PPG, KND, Ben10, Dexters Lab, Fosters were all of my favorite shows at the time so actually seeing them altogether blew my tiny baby brain.
My parents were somewhat strict so they took the '10 and up' pretty seriously, but i was able to play when i turned 9. I never got far in the og game and to be honest didnt enjoy the academy too much but I had so much fun doing it that looking back I didnt even mind how much it crashed or lagged at times.
Im currently playing Openfusion now, I played retro when it came out and was devastated when it got taken down cuz i was so close to finally finishing. Its very eerie, seeing how empty the world of the game actually is without all the players but Im still so in love with the worldbuilding, the environments, the story, the creativity of the monster and character designs, the callbacks to all the shows with things as little as a hat for an accessory. Im actually shocked at how well it turned out as something that came out in 2009 and was FREE TO PLAY (later on) nonetheless. As somebody studying animation and very interested in visual development, it crushes me that something this big and so well thought out was just thrown away by Cartoon Network.
This retrospective was amazing. It game me such a strong sense of nostalgia, especially seeing things as little as jumping to the top of the tree house. I also want a show so, SO bad. I appreciate what they did with the 3D but the 2D art was what drew me in in the first place- I'd LOVE to see it used in actual animation. (As someone studying animation Id love to work on something like this too!) Its such a shame that it came somewhat too early for its time (imo); as an adult I'd pay actual good money to see this project given the attention and nurture it deserves. But I still admire how a community persists even after all these years. And thats mostly in part to a lot of dedicated fans like you!
    Amazing work!

What a coincidence, I'm legit playing OpenFusion as we speak... I may have only first tried fusion fall back when the Fusion Fall Academy storyline was going on and was just confused and had absolutely no idea how to fight the fusions cause I don't even think they gave me a weapon to fight them yet but I still liked it.
10/10 it was an amazing game that really had a ton of potential but nowadays, I swear to Eden I think HBO had bought out Cartoon Network and are now using most of the morning to late afternoons during K-12 school hours for their baby programs named Cartoonito and most of the evening its just the shows on adult swim. I honestly feel like at this rate the remaining time that isn't running either Cartoonito or Adult swim is soon going to no longer exist, and it's not going to stop at the death of CN's adolescent programs and soon take over CN's old shows that air on Boomerang. Which is the channel my mom mainly watches because their is not many other good shows on to watch. So... it's sad to see that the channel I grew up on being slowly but surely put on even more & more life support than it already is and that CN corporate is readying to turn off CN's heart monitor and life support.

I've grown to love Fusionfall ever since their first announcements back in the day. I quickly fell in love with the worldbuilding, the connections between the shows of CN Universe and the character designs, especially the Powerpuff Girls, and I also love how they convey the Utoniums' longing for Buttercup's return in their missions.
I wish Studio Trigger would pick up Fusionfall and make a Fusionfall anime series since they have successfully revive franchises like Gridman and Cyberpunk and give them more hype than before.
And were it up to me, I'd have a Gridman X Fusionfall crossover project for that matter lol 😂

Incredible video. I remember seeing the ads for the game and thinking it was the most badass thing ever, but for some reason I never played it during its original run. I played openfusion for a bit in April, but the emptiness felt kind of eerie for some reason. Still, I know for sure I would've enjoyed it during its original run.

Fun Fact, with enough messing around ingame, you could find Tech Square from the Future's Tutorial under the Null Void, meaning they did not completely get rid of the future.

A lot of the academy stuff was more rushed due to the company developing it was being shut down, things like the generator Rex stuff from was reused from a different. Flapjack and Johnny bravo were basically the last things added before Cartoon Network had to pick up the load

I never actually stopped to think about why Jack gave us the final mission to defeat Fuse instead of, like, Dexter maybe cuz he was kinda the leader of everyone. I just thought that it was because he was the closest and didn’t require you to leave the Darklands.
What you said about the MC traveling to a future they need to prevent from happening mirroring Samurai Jack’s story is actually such a cool thing I never noticed. And now the final mission being given by Jack makes so much more narrative sense.
Also, I never realized that that down there in the Catacombs was Robot Randy!
Didn’t think there’d be anything else in FusionFall left for me to learn about, but you just proved me wrong twice over, lol.

    • @TadIGuess
      @TadIGuess  Рік тому +4

As I was replaying the Future for this I was rewatching Samurai Jack and had the biggest "HEY WAIT" moment. Such a cool way of handling that series in Fusionfall.
There's probably still a ton of references I haven't picked up on over a decade later, this game could be analyzed forever, there's just so many tiny details!

Im 24 now & I cant get over the fact that I never finished the main quest. I absolutely loved this game, the world & the friends I made on it. I don’t remember what level I was when I last played it but it was probably like lvl 18. I remember seeing like level 29s looking like Gods 😂. The atmosphere and aesthetic of the entire game was just the best.

Feel you pal, Idk why people think Fusionfall didn't make it outside of USA at all (I'm from Argentina and still played it.. I was even like 12 or 13 at the time, didn't learn English until 17 😂 so I guess it was released in spanish too?). Never really understood the reasons behind why this era ended in favor of a much worse one, yes Fusionfall maybe died due to just being way too expensive (it was mostly a kid MMO, unlike wow or Idk, Lineage or whatever), it was free and I think it didn't even feature p2w stuff? Being a MMO also means the game never finishes development, it's literally a life development, there will always be a team of coders and engineers working on it year after year, and this didn't even have a sub-based model..
Sad to see no one making something alike. I'm not talking about a MMO, but a single player experience (or coop, just not something as big as expensive.. multiplayer alone is already hard to implement). I want to try someday, there are more than enough capable artists and coders (thing is, it's illegal and I guess most of these people either don't have enough free time to do it or money..) Hope one day some people with enough funds (unrelated to the project) and free time will show up and make it possible, most of the prob comes from assets (look at the amounts of chars, all the design, models, animations, all the props, sounds, etc..), then you have the coding part (with money you can buy most of the mechanics, the only skill needed would be there in terms of design and composition: take the tools and pieces, now code to composite something together, and even force compatibility.. otherwise you would need to code most stuff yourself, which will be as hard as you want it to be depending on the game itself, a walking sim or a MMO lol).

Tbh I can't recall seeing CN around that time, altho if they aired some of it later on over here I may've and forgot, altho I think at the time I mostly watched other stuff
    "Big Shot" checkers lol
That seems cool how they managed to link characters and traits like that into a big world
Wow yeah that's a good symbolisation with the music to denote 1 missing
    Bedrock city moment
In terms of these early periods of shows it is weird yeah, because I remember some of the stuff I watched when I was 12-13 and apparently it became completely different after I stopped watching it around 2013/2014

    Great video tad
I remember fusionfall as cartoon network keeps marketing the hell put that mmo game
Actually cow and chicken could work into fusion fall I can easily see super cow trying to save civilians from the fusions
I too am a cartoon network child since that was a go to for animation history and alot of their creator driven cartoons (though not all of them) took a simple premise and made it work
Something that the nicktoons and fox kids cartoons pioneered and disney followed suit with one saturday morning and later disney channel

@fusionfallcentralofficial yeah I do kind of wished they would put more cn shows and try to make them work in the world of fusionfall
I can easily see officer buck tudrussel, Mao Mao, robot jones, Jake spidermonkey, adam lyon, ko, gumball, Steven universe, problem solverz, the disgustoids, uncle grandpa, Clarence, grizz, panda, ice bear, craig, apple and onion, elliot, Josh, Rodney and Andy, Victor and Valentino, coop, juniper Lee, the top cat crew from jellystone getting involved with the fusion invasion
