@mercian7 aw true we have being to Scottish national history museum and noticed that they were everywhere where the war involved. Brave and beside that it is really a noce country and people are there friendly at least where i have being :)
@@jsemplefelton5348 Aye, I get your point. Flower of Scotland is a bit dour, as a tune, but the words are very rousing.... However, the idea of Scotland the Brave as a national anthem reminds me of the Big Yin joke about how slow God Save the Queen was compared to other national anthems ("We are from ...... and we don't give a f*ck!") BTW: Flower of Scotland got 41% of the votes (v 29% for Scotland the Brave) in a 2006 SNO poll.
I was advised against joining the Queens own Highlanders by the recruiting officer because my brother was the depot sergeant at the time. I didn’t want to join any other regiment as all the men in my family had served in both world wars and in peacetime in either the Camerons or Seaforths - and both when they amalgamated in 1961 to form the Queens Own - so I never got to serve.
That has to be one of the poorest reasons for not joining up I've seen flogged off, your story makes no sense at all. It was and is, extremely common for brothers, even dads and sons to serve in the same regiment concurrently even with one holding higher rank or position. In the QOHIGHRS there were loads of family serving together, even now in the Highlanders it is a regular thing, the PM and DM are even brothers.
Bad luck mine were all Seaforth Highlanders but a Gordon for me a Gordon for me if yer nae a Gordon yer nae use tae me, the Black Watch are braw the Seaforths and aw but the Bonnie Wee Gordon’s the pride o them aw. Bydand.

I’ve always thought that the pipes and the drums should be mixed better…from the front the drums are very weak and from the rear all you can hear is the drums. Why has nobody thought of this before?
@asac....black bear is a traditional pipe tune for the scots soldiers marching back to the barracks at the end of their day. this is what they are doing here.
So what was the lucky incident? I remember standing across that road for hours and hours packed like sardines in the freezing cold waiting to get into the tattoo, I also remember the SS guards in high viz jackets bullying everyone
This is brilliant but I really really wish the police or security would stop wearing the ludicrous luminous high viz jackets - it's a cheep look and does not exude authority.
Yep. Have to agree with that. Cheap looking regulation yellow tat. Irish cops also got new canary topped uniform. Police authority has been plummeting for a while though. Infiltrated by ethnic groups wearing bees nest hats and dirty beards for show of diversity
Hmm, wonder how much radio you listen to with all the songs on high rotation? Do you not also have a favourite song you've listened to many times over the years? You clicked on the video and listened to it. Why, if you heard it a 'thousand' times?
@@voxac30withstrat no i don’t listen to the same music over & over again. Nor do I have a favorite song that I listen to over & over again. I clicked on this and once I saw what it in tailed I paused it and made my comment. How does marching down the streets of Scotland or anywhere else for that matter over & over again especially at night prove. There’s more important things to be getting on with in life, instead of watching the same spectacle so many times. Plus in what way is it benefiting you. Scottish people must live really boring lives when it takes pipe bands to march up & down the streets to raise your awareness of who you are.
Happy bunny aren’t you , didn’t it occur to you that many watching it live probably visitors who haven’t seen it before , regardless what people enjoy is up to them .

It’s a shit hole and blame the SNP
Aye they couldn't even vote for themselves in 2014, voted to be ruled by London, England.
@@joninslo5759pretty sure Scotland exists , now if you were thinking of mordor or narnia then I could see your point
I met my wife for the first time in that pub, the Ensign Ewart, 52 years ago. She’s been gone 6years now. Never forget that first meeting
It's so small in there that you can't help getting close to the other customers. I love it.
I'm sorry for your loss.
That's a hell of a long time to be in a pub!

Love love the bagpipes. Ex neighbour's here in NZ used to play them
As a Scottish woman I love the bagpipes 🏴
Best part about being a piper is the free drinks at the pub stops, of which there are many, many.
I bet it is :)

As do I, an inspiring sight. But scary fighting Men as history tells.

The "Black Bear" - I love the Cheer given in that march.

The pipe bands always make me cry. I'm SO proud to be Scottish. ❤❤
My Scottish ancestors would wholeheartedly agree.. 👍
