You did a great job performing this song, so I thought you might like to know the story of the true songwriter who gets zero credit for writing this epic hit and one other song performed by The Hollies. My father, Ralph Colangione, was a 17-year-old U.S Marine waiting to ship out to Vietnam. His long-time girlfriend, Carrie Ann, broke up with him by letter. Ralph and his marine buddies had formed a band, so he wrote songs to help heal his broken heart. Ralph played these songs in a bar one night in Los Angeles, CA, unaware that Nancy Sinatra was in the bar. She loved his songs, so he coordinated a meeting with her record company, RCA. The RCA rep suggested Ralph sell all of his rights to the songs BLACK IS BLACK and CARRIE ANN, and instead receive a lump song for them, “because he didn’t know if he would come back from Vietnam.” My father was the oldest of 8 children, so he decided to take the cash to send to his mother. Ralph Colangione survived the war, but he lost the battle with RCA who had assigned 6 songwriters who get the credit for his two songs. He struggled throughout the years supporting his five children, while others got the royalties to his hit songs. I am an award-winning singer/songwriter who went to Berklee College of Music. I have written over 300 songs, but none of them will ever be as popular as the songs of my unsung hero, my father, Ralph Colangione. God Bless!

"Los Bravos" was a Spanish Beat Group which was formed in 1965. They were based in Madrid Spain. "Black is Black" reached no.2 on the English Charts in 1966. It reached No 4 in the States. Lead singer Mike Kogel was from Germany. I am certain Mike would enjoy your wonderful cover of this great song.
Incidentally, i was a junior in High School in 66 playing guitar in a trio which included my brother and a friend. Black is Black was one of the most requested songs which we performed.

Thank you for this version oddly it always reminds of a lovely black Labrador dog I had at the time she was a rescued stray and this song always reminds me of the great memories I had of her in the 1960's.
